Gator01 - Team B - 100K

Despite the powerful cultural position we have now, we obviously aren't going to hit 100K before the Japanese reach 50K. It's hard to know, since this is PtW and I'm not using any utility relevant to the question, but it looks as though if we leave the Japanese unmolested we may have to reach at least 110K to win, costing us 7-10 turns. So it becomes a question of how hard we want to work to shave a few turns off our finish date. If anyone would like to conduct an offensive against the Japanese (and so probably against the English on the way), speak up; but if no such paladin appears ;), and we just spend the remaining turns improving our economy and rushing cultural buildings, I won't object.

A compromise might be just to take Sapporo and the island off our own coast (with two cities) from the Japanese, which would hurt them a bit culturally without costing us much trouble.

With an eye to a possible Japanese campaign, we're building galleons in the German ports near the northern Japanese island, and we've got three ships in Ravenna, with two more moving in that direction.

We should certainly go into despotism once more to pop-rush cultural structures.

The armies (including an empty one), the settlers, and the artillery units are in or around Berlin. The cavalry are in or around Forbidden Legend.

Sevastopol and Ganogeh are just peeling workers off because their food boxes are full--don't let them continue with workers.

Salzburg is so unhappy (we whipped a university there :satan: ) that it's going to starve down to size one, with nothing to be done about it. The same is true of New Gewauga.

Okay, so I was too lazy to do much about the whole Japan thing. I did rush quite a bit more culture. We were at 1665cpt at the end. Unfortunately, this wasn't enough to speed up the finish at all, and despite CivAssist's prediction of a 1720 AD win date we finished in 1730 AD. Oh well. We needed somewhere around 111800 culture for the win. Actually, I am really disappointed that all my time had no effect on the win date, but I had no interest in RoP raping Japan or anything else to that effect.

Anyway, it's over!

Thanks for wrapping this one up. I'm glad you kept rushing to the end, whether it influenced our finish date or not; anything else would have been negligent.

Ninety-seven people submitted finishes for this game when it was GOTM7, and only one, Sparrowhawk, claimed the 100K victory, in 1860 AD. So we surpassed that standard easily enough, though of course GOTM7 was vanilla, and deity was a daunting challenge back then, as witnessed by the high number of losses submitted. In any case, well done to all.

It looks like we may be the only team to finish. I never would have guessed that between the three teams, that one would be us. It also looks like we are well ahead of the other teams' paces.

There was a team C that got off to a slower start, and they just sort of stopped playing months ago.

Delicately put!

It's odd to look at Team A's position, which is visually similar to ours, only with 1/3 of our culture. They seem to have ICS-ed their cores and their corrupt lands indiscriminately.
