GEM 1.049 + CivUP 31 is always resulting in a crash to desktop for me. When I just use CivUP31 it works just fine. I tried different leaders, DX9 and DX11, clearing MUD and cache folders, etc. Nothing changed the crash.
Ever since Thal released the GEM Beta 1.04 the game always crashes on my machine very quickly right after game setup and start game button pressed and before game starts.
Attached lua log from CivUPv31 and Beta 9 (v1). G&K version 1.0.1.705.
All starts preceded by deleting cache, mods, moduserdata folders and letting G&K recreate them. Only CivUP & Beta in mods folder - no other mods. Always use Continents Plus, small map, and all other values G&K defaults.
No crashes with CivUP only. No crashes with CivUP and any combination of many other mods. Seems to be only Beta causing the problem.
I seem to be having the same problem. I can load a game with both active some of the time, but mostly it never even gets to the opening civ description screen. With the GEM beta active it will never load with any other MOD active. Sorry don't have lua file can't get that far to get one.
I wanted to bring to light these issues cause a number of friends whom love this mod along with myself are all experiencing this. No errors in our lua to report.
No other mods, caches cleared, etc. Earlier version worked fine. Once you click play from set up, game crashes. Never enters the actual starting screen where you would see the portrait of your civ leader. Disabling GEM and only using the Unofficial Patch will work fine.
Same thing here, using 1,049, deleted cashe & moduserdata.
I can load and play already created games fine.
But as soon as I generate a new game, insta crash
Same for me. Last things in logs:
xml-perf.log: [737.993] , SetGlobalActionInfo, 0.000122
stopwatch.log: [741.925] , LoadUnitLibraries via Database, 4.269681
other logs look clean
Putting an underscore in front of the AI folder in GEM seems to fix it for me. Its the only folder I have underscored currently.
Edit: Nevermind, game loads, but is unplayable. Might be something bugged in that folder though.
Edit2: Success. Through process of elimination, I got the game running (only tested 4 turns) by deleting:
<Civup>
<Row Type="AI_PURCHASE_BUDGET_MULTIPLIER">
<Value>1.5</Value>
</Row>
<Row Type="AI_PURCHASE_BUDGET_MINIMUM">
<Value>200</Value>
</Row>
<Row Type="AI_PURCHASE_FLAVOR_MAX_ATTEMPTS">
<Value>5</Value>
</Row>
</Civup>
From the GEAI_General.xml. Don't know if there are any other problems yet.
Edit3: As another update: Policy trees are bugged in my game. While age requirements seem to work, I can pick any policy in the tree that I wish without needing the requirements.
I think I figured out the cause of some recent crashes. I narrowed it down to this file:
\GEM\AI\GEAI_LeaderFlavors.xml
You should be able to avoid the crashes by placing an _ underscore in front of the file name. The reason for the problem is I cleared out the leader flavor table, so the new G&K leaders have no flavors, which obviously would be an issue. I'm working on solving this now.
It did not happen in my initial tests because it bugs out only when G&K-specific AI leaders exist on the map. I must have randomly got vanilla-only leaders in my first game.
