Gen. Rommel's Mighty Unit Emporium - A Unit Preview Thread

PM me your e-mail. BTW it is an obj.

 These units are so beautiful

But they have a big flaw... Why do they need to be so small?

It's really a pitty that they can't be a bit bigger, so we could see more details. Look at your paratrooper : what a shame he can't be rendered at a scale where we can see the camo and everything clearly!

But wait... What if someone was working (ok, ok, not working so fast and so much than he should) on a game where the tiles are 256x128, and where the units could be bigger?

That would be cool!

Exactly what I need!!!! The PM has been sent and thanks! :goodjob:

It poses no problem that it's an .obj file. None at all. As long as the files are importable into Poser, I am fine with whatever can be sent.

EDIT: Stupid lag made me double-post!!!
On its merry way obj is a poser file format.

I've just seen this thread. It's about time you've taken the step into unit maker rather than requester.

PM me with a list of weapons or 'soldiers' you'd like and an email I can send them to. It is far more likely that I have the guns rather than the men you need. I have lots.

At least someone dares to make Hitler.. do you give him pistol too, so he can execute his assasins (you know, it really bothers how original king units didn't have attack animation and when they were attacked they didn't show up)
Also, then we need Stalin too.. i even use Stalin LH for russians in my games.
And if you have room for another leader, then perhaps you think about making Napoleon, cuz now we have also great Napoleon LH ;)

Sorry, not much I can do there hehe. However, I am very interested to see how your new bigger sized version maps look.

Indeed, unit-making is much funner than unit-requesting. For one, anything you can conjure up is possible, whereas the requester is limited to the skill of the request up-taker. Furthermore, you simply get more done! :crazyeye:

As I saw that you posted in my props request thread (and I was greatly surprised that someone honestly had some of the models I requested, so that makes me VERY happy indeed), I have sent you the according PM with my email. Thanks for anything you can send me, it will help me a lot!

I am definitely thinking about making an attack animation (which I think will look even better for Rommel than for Hitler, since Hitler wasn't actively on the front lines like Rommel was). And about the other two great leaders, simply wait and see. ;)

Hammer, Römmelchen... super Einheiten, Respekt! ;)
Du wohnst ja in der Nähe, mußt mal vorbeikommen und mir zeigen, wie das geht! *grins*

Awesome work!

Well, for the moment it doesn't look as I have redesign the tiling mechanism and I'm busy programming it.

I hope to have something to show by the end of april

Where in Germany are you from exactly? I believe I remember reading somewhere that you are going to the University of Essen, correct? I take it you meant that sarcastically though, in any case. :D

That Fallschirmjäger is astounding! Accurate down to the special helmet, the camo pattern & the jumpsuit thingamabob. I suppose to make him super-unique, you could give him a FG42, but where would a guy find a model of that? ;)

True, the addition of a Fallschirmjägergewehr 42 in place of the MP40 would be an excellent one, but as you said, one would have to have that prop first. For the time being, I guess I'll have to live with the new MP40 model Wyrm sent me (it luckily doesn't have the stock on the back which was getting in the way of the actual Fallschirmjäger's arm; thanks again to him for that).

If it helps, the FG42 wasn't built in such abundance anyways and only a few thousand were actually produced. Besides, the FG42 was first used in 1943 (though it would be no problem to change the year of the paratrooper if the model were to find its way to me ;)).

I had an FG-42 somewhere but I can't find it anymore.. It was a low quality model anyway, it relied on its textures for detail. Acutally the MP-40 I gave you does have a stock, its just folded forward. Check your email for a new batch.

Wow...just...WOW!!! I am absolutely in heaven with all these models now! I just don't know what I'd do without you Wyrm. If I can ever make it up in some way, just tell me and I will gladly help (though anything I could help you with, you could probably do better yourself ten-fold).

If you can animate my new Turtledove soldiers.........
