German SG II: The Second Reich!

OK, donsig is up for real this time.

Ohwell asked to be skipped via a post in the Chinese thread, thats why things got confusing here. Then he went ahead anyway.

No biggie, we've always been flexible about turns.

So after donsig, its KD or Palehorse76.

I strongly urge we take back Elipi for the luxuries when this Right of Passage crap is over.

The time is drawing near for a panzer blitz. :D

1720: The German Parliament calls for more spending on research and developement.

1725: Traded gems, coal and steel to India for ivory and 25 gold/turn. Traded furs, wines and steel to Japan for incense.

1735: Hoover dam complete.

1740: German scientists perfect refining. We have oil. We have ANARCHY.

1741-1752: ANARCHY.

1754: Democracy sweeps over Germany and New Germania.

1758: Cancelled RoP w/India.

1760: Russia and Japan make peace.

1762: Germans use that refined oil to make internal combustion engines.

1764: Time to renew peace treaty with Russia. Catherine will not teach German scientists the secrets of communism. Germany must have communism!!! War is declared on Russia!!! Cavalry army formed. Moscow captured with the loss of but one cavalry division.

1766: Russia fights back by forming a trade embargo with Rome against Germany. Oh, Catherine also sent out a division of knights to drive our forces away. It didn't work. The resistance in Moscow ends and Smolensk is razed.

I got tired of building army stuff and concentrated on cathedrals and coliseums. Let's see how war works in democracy!

There are only 4 Russian cities left near us. (The rest are on an island?) We can take them before war weariness gets to us! We have a pretty big army...

Have fun whoever is next.

The time is drawing near for a panzer blitz.

At this point I think we can roll far with just cavalry!

Oh, BTW: on my last turn I used that j command to move things around and ended up seperating our cavalry from our army. I'm not even sure exactly where the army's cavalry went. Sorry about that!

AND there are about 4 or 5 turns left in the RoP with Rome - unless their embargo cancelled it already.

There's something wrong with the Army unit in Moscow. Note that although the active unit is the Army but the graphic representation is of a cavalry unit.

I left it in Moscow for the next person to figure it out. Also note that the game keeps keeping me out, so it may be unstable. SAVE constantly. ;)

A few suggestions regarding our Conquest in New Germania : -

- Don't develop the cities there (tile development is OK though). These are those useless one trade type cities. At most build temples and walls.

- Build mkts instead of cathedrals (cos we got all the luxuries). More cost-effective.

- Never build aqueducts. We don't need oversized useless cities there.

Anyway, highlights (only played 4 turns) : -

1766 - Rushed temple in Ashur. Drop science to 40% (same no of turns to tech). Put back cities into producing war material. :D

1770 - Japanese insulting us.... War is imminent... once we disposed of the Russians....

Its that bug with the new patch. You cannot move armies with the "j" hot key or problems result like the one we are now having.

Palehorse76 is up next. I hope the bug hasnt made the game unplayable.

The war continues....

1772 - Motorized transportation in 4 turns. :D I smell Panzer fumes (our std motto by now). :D Upped science to 60%. Also just realized we don't need the 20% lux at all, so drew it down to zero. :o Bombardment softened up the inf in Odessa and our cavalry then took the city easily.

1774 - Battleships being built. Massed troops outside Minsk.

Note - Lagash is ungarrisoned. And remember to use artillery & ships to bombard and soften def before attking using cavalry. Russian infantry are tough.

So, you don't like my style? :p TOO BAD. This is a Succesion Game  .We didn't need the luxuries. I made a cease fire with Russia because I HAD to, now because I don't like war. Our Tranport fleet had no escorts, and were being killed every turn. I needed time to build ironclads and more Galleons, and ship a large army to Russia. It isn't my fault that every single one of my cavalry died attacking Moscow! And the Army!

DON'T call my actions crap. I'd rather not let 4 galleons be sunk and have cossacks capturing New Germany. Whenever I do something I think would help us, you all let it slide away. You don't know how it would have been if I stayed at war. Noone seems happy for the 16-unit reinforcement I sent, which included an unloaded army. I built temples and libraries to help cutlure in New Germany. I upgrtaded to infantry in some New German lands. What I didn't do was send the remainder of my existing cavalry in New Germany to attack Moscow. Moscow destroyed 6 cavalry, and an army of three. That isn't my fault.

Can any of you play when not at war?

Ellippi is now Japanese. We can't touch it till we go to war with Japan. Soon though. :cooool: The RoP shld be ending soon....

Yes, that happened during my turn, because I got Japan to attack Russia AND Rome, another one of my accomplishments.

These are all small details really. The game's won. :D Just a matter of time.

Right now, I am more worried that the game file may be unstable cos of that strange Phantom Army. Kicked me out a few times.

Oh and Ohwell, I have put in orders for a couple of battleships for you. ;) :D

Ohwell, you take offense at something one person posts and you are goingto insult the rest of us? Back down and cool off. He didn't say that making the Right of Passage deal was crap, he was just making a statement about how he felt then about the ROP. The ROP just frustrated him b/c he couldn't take back our city. To illustrate that I am not a warmonger I have won by culture in a SP game before. :p

Like Knight-Dragon said, this game is won. That's why I switched to democracy then attacked Russia. It doesn't matter, we have arrived.

You did fine Ohwell. I did what you said and you had me set up good. I sent over all the reinforcements you made (plus the few I made). Waited for the RoP to end then opened up on Catherine and her knights. The artillery and ironclad bombardment helped pave the way for our cavalry.

Now I did screw up with that j key. I went to move some extra cavalry and forgot that command will move even units inside armies. That army should have 3 cavalry in it. Perhaps if we can get the cavalry and the army back on the same tile the game will restabalize.

I had the same theory as you donsig, about re-marrying the lost army. I am curious to see if that will fix the bug, but I doubt it. Firaxis needs to look at that.

To Ohwell - We are having a misunderstanding.

I didnt say anything directed at your "style of play" or strategy. If I didnt like it, why have I asked you to play in this SG, or all the others I started, to begin with?

I said: Lets attack them when the RoP crap is over.

Meaning: We have every intention of annihilating them, thus its just a formality to wait until the 20 turns is up. In other words, crap. ;)

I also was unaware that Japan now owns the town in question. So its a moot point anyway.

I am sorry if you felt it was a critisism, because it wasnt. Maybe I was not being clear.

However, I dont see the need to cut down everyone else, especialy when they have offered alot to our games.

Lets all shake hands now, and get over it.

Great, I'm up. DLing it and will play tonight in about 4 or so hours...but if the next person wants to take my turn, then I will take their turn after they finish mine...if you can do it within 4 hours, I am agreeable to that. :) 4 hours from the time this was posted.
