German SG II: The Second Reich!

My fellow Chancellors and Warlords, it would appear Hippo's file is unzippable on my machine. Can someone else pls give it a try?

The zip is bad.
I get an error opening it also.

Could Cunobelin of Zip-po please fix this situation, please???

EDIT: Nevermind. In the future, someone will have to transfer the Mac-zip to Win-zip. No biggie.

Yup, I believe its how StuffIt zip the file. I can't open it with Winzip but I can open it with StuffIt expander!!

So I have unzip it and rezip with Winzip for you guys. ;)

And here it is for whoever is up next. :D

Big THANK YOU to Dark Sheer!

As a small token of our appreciation, we'll name a battleship after you.;)
The Admiral Sheer!

OK, Knight-Dragon is up, or Palehorse76 can go next, since KD plays earlier than most of us. Whoever posts first. :D

Goals:
Get ready to take out London!
Build a city or colony to get the fur linked up.

Thanks again, DarkSheer!

I love to see this game continue as well. ;)

By the way, to avoid future problem, you guys can download a free copy of StuffIt expander from http://www.stuffit.com

It has both Mac and Win version. In fact, I think it also has Linux version for download. :cooool:

I can only play in another 9 hours. :( If Palehorse wants to play first, pls inform us here and go ahead by all means. This SG is quite dragged out already.

And thanks, Dark Sheer, for sorting out our technical problems for us! :goodjob:

The game file will only grow bigger with each new round. It'll be a whole lot easier if you'll just use the same zipper as all the rest of us folks. ;) :p

I will take the run since Knight-Dragon insists on taking forever! ;) j/k
Civ3 reinstalled and repatched and ready to go.
I also installed StuffIt extracter just incase there isn't a Mac Zipper besides it.

I will be looking at the situation for at least 30 minutes trying to grasp what everyone has done and what the best course for the mighty Germany Empire will be.

BC 1125 Looking over the situation and think. Took screen shot. Still thinking. I am demobilizing the armies and turning us peaceful and going for sciences. I don't like wars unless I am going to win completely, so until we get iron only defense will be made. Changed from Temple to Wall in Hamburg as I can build wall then rush temple later in less time then building other way around. Moving 2nd Spearman from Bristol to Berlin to handle the dissedents that will pop up when I increase population.

To Cunobelin Of Hippo: If at all possible I would post Jpegs as they are smaller and come out looking better than Gifs (Look at mine versus yours 40K versus 80K). Just a suggestion. :)

Hint - Improve tiles by Berlin, speed up the Pyramids

That is what I was planning. Mines and roads plus use the trees that might be there now (got distracted by CornMaster and BotF). Also thinking of boosting the pop from another city to Berlin.

Rethought the strategy:
I have a lot of notes but not enough time to post them. I will get to it in the morning (oh god, it is 0340East Coast US....I will probably post them around 0800).
Basically I stopped the pyramids as we don't need massive amounts of cities. I build a Granary instead in Berlin.
Here is game file and picture

and the game:

We now have 2 or 3 Swordsmen and more on the way. I suggest building cities close to (like how close Frankfurt is) Berlin on the east and north west under Konigsburg and keep Berlin down to a pop of 6 for now (I think it can grow to 8 without uprisings and with a temple but it is turning out Swordsmen fast right now, nothing to stop us from taking continent but distance).

ARGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This could very well create a monster civ somewhere else.

Guys, drop me out of this one. My philosphy disagrees to much with PaleHorse76. To me Wonder building is a key portion of the game, and I don't want to have to worry about another cancel wondered.

Sorry, but this game isn't going to fun if I have to worry that any wonder I build will be cancelled

Damn, sorry you feel that way lkendter. I thought since this was a mixing of ideas that changing in mid stride was allowed. I felt that it was more of a benefit to have Berlin pumping out troops, Swordsmen at that, and take our continent. IMHO the Pyramids aren't as valueable as let's say TGL (which we could build 3 turns from now). Also with strong military action now we have a better chance of GL early to rush more Great Wonders. If I was wrong in canceling the Pyramids I am sorry. Give the game another chance, just think of it as more of a challenge now or look at it as an opportunity to learn a new strategy first hand (whether the strat works remains to be seen, neh?)

I'd hate to see a fellow PA resident leave now! :D
Here are drining directions to my house incase you are really mad ;) Yahoo! Maps I live about 1 hour away. ;)

1 Swordsman station to guard our iron. England worried about invasion plans leaked thru rouge newspaper. Lord PaleHorse puts a few news services to fire (newspapers without printing presses invented yet? ;)). We sent embassador to Elizabeth to calm her fears. The story we give is to "defend" our supply of Iron. Embassador reports Elizabeth's jealously over Iron Working scientific advance and the English Army sleeps fitfully with our troops stationed on the border to London. Another Berlin Swordsman on route to Iron "defense".
Empire Summary:
247 Gold, +0GT, Literature 3T
Army: 8 Spearmen, 2 Swordsmen, 1 Chariot, 1 Archer (Scout)
Workers: 3 Native, 2 English
Local Resources: (1)Horse, (1)Iron, (2)Wines, (1)Fur

I suggest that we build 2 more cities near Berlin and take advantage of the lack of corruption being so close to the capital. I have attached a picture with those suggest building locations. None of the cities are within Berlin's city radius and when we are ready to build Berlin past size 6 or so then we can stopped these cities from using Berlin's resource squares. If we don't build cities here I feel that the tiles will be wasted. My 2 cents.
