German SG II: The Second Reich!

The attack continues, hammerblows are rained upon France and they give way.

However, at the gates of their capitol, we run into a foe we cannot beat.

Logistics.

Our new units cannot get to the front quickly enough, and we are being whittled down by counter-attacks. The situation is dire!

Our brave swordsmen on the southern island boarded a galley and launched a surprise attack that cut off Joan's iron supply, but unless we take London and relieve them, it may become a suicide mission.

This war has entered a final phase:

End with victory, or stalemate.

And stalemate is defeat in the long run.

The current situation:

Sorry, my Dear Joan, we need a treaty to build more swordsmen.

German armies consolidate at Cherbourg, reinforcements are coming.

The Indians sold Monarchy and Map to us for 50 gold and Map.

The despotism was overthrown, 3 more turns of anarchy.

Sun Tzus is over 50% done in Schleswig, and Japan just started theirs. We should get it, and our golden age.

And none too soon, as we are beginning to stagnate.

I rush built ALOT of culture improvements. My only good news to report.

Aside from that, it was not one of my best turns. By far.
Better luck to LKendter, at the very least, I set you up good.

*Hint* Joan linked up her other iron source and is building swordsmen again in large numbers. If you attack, watch your flanks.

London? When did France get London?

Or do you mean Paris?

Pre-turn -
We are in Anarchy, not much to do.

We are #6 in the most Advanced nations list :(

760 AD - DEMAND joan leave our territory, and she does. I love it, Joan with us $30 for world map.
780 AD - Berlin begins Hanging Gardens - This is a place holder for the Chappel.
790 AD - Rome completes the Great Lighthouse. Gack - cascades to Chappel.
820 AD - Our leader arrive at Munich, as rushes the forbidden palace. Our economy desperately needs a boast.
830 AD - The FP comes on line, and we go from +13 to +42 gold. We can up science 10% to a total of 30%. Not my standard, but I go for Chivalry next.
850 AD - Interesting, I can trade with Rome. Dyes for 6gpt. Science upped to 40%
890 AD - India completes the Hanging Gardens, cascade to Sun Tzu / Sistine Chappel.
910 AD - Path of least resitance, Engineering in 4 turns. Oh well, time for the hammer to hit. War with France. Grab multiple workers, marching on cities, kill several French units at no cost.
920 AD - The first French counter attack results in more dead French units, then ours. WTH? Berlin already rioting about the war. War weariness hits ALL of our city the fastest I have ever seen it. Dijon is captured. Once French cities is ours. The French defense is really thin - Grenoble is ours, it was defend by just 1 spearman. Joanie won't talk yet, so we will take more our your cities.
930 AD - How many units are in Chartes? I kill more, but it still has defenders. Kill several defenders in Marseillies. French have a good counterattack, and kill 3 units by Chartes.
940 AD - Statemated turn.
950 AD - The French drop a city is OUR ice area????????

Summary - Well, that did not go as well as I hoped it would. The horses are in Munich to upgrade to knights. Good luck, this war effort turning into a loser. :(

Well donsig, its your turn to try and make something happen.

I wish there was some advice I could offer, but I dont know what to do. I thought I would wipe 'em out during my turn, like old times, but this whole game has been just plain weird from the get-go.

I was tempted to retire the whole damn thing during my turn.

And yes, I meant Paris. I caught the same thing you have. English-itis.

I will almost definitely be able to play by next rotation, so, I can help crush France into oblivion! I am sure they don't have Longbowmen yet, so I am in luck! I would'nt end the war, because of my alllmost annoying perseverence, but if I were one of you I would try to get some infrastructure in and get those scientists testing! I am near shell-shock still from the German and Roman Games, and just reading this one makes me shudder!

;) Good Job Chancellors if the German Republic! I can't WAIT for the naval battles to come...

You know, I really hope there is India in this game, because they are formidable naval opponents in the game... A challenge I see!

The game must go on! But it's midnight and I'm just now leaving work so I may not play till in the morning!;)

960 AD: Marseilles captured.

970: French units retreating on all fronts.

980: Palace expanded.:)

990: Resistance in Marseilles ends as French units advance on the city.

1000: German scientists make great breakthroughs in engineering.

1010: French forces advance on all fronts. Japanese building Leonardo's workshop.

1020: RIOTING! Palace expanded.:crazyeyes Research halted!

1030: Ameins destroyed in the north, lost a knight. Indians building Leo's place.

1040: Battle outside Rouen as German forces reach the outskirts of the city.

1050: Rouen razed. Romans building Leo.

1060: We trade furs and chivalry to Ceasar for invention. Romans building Sistine Chapel.

1070: Research (barely) re-established.

1080: Toulouse razed - no French iron left?

1090: German forces advance on Tours and Paris.

1100: Palace expanded.:) Tours razed, lost a knight and swordsman. PARIS RAZED!:) :)

Here is what is left of France.

Our economy and research rates are very bad. We must finish off France, colonize the areas we raze and get back on track!

Leo is set to build next turn - unless the next player wants a different wonder. There's Sun Tsu, Sistine Chapel and maybe another available to us. Whoever's up next: if you don't want Leo yet you'll have to switch production before you end the current turn! Good luck!

Im on it!

France is a goner, and I will make science the #1 priority.

Good work you two. Things look alot better than they did.

Unlike the first German SG, its seems in this one I got to do some "setting up" for others. Apparently their is some justice in this world.:D

Add me back on please! :D I am finally better after 7 days!

Oh, and have you guys seen the improvements in 1.17f? OMG! I am almost in heaven with these changes. Once again I feel better towards Firaxis. Sorry to get so far off topic, but I said this all for a reason: If we apply Patch 1.17f to our copy of Civ3 will it mess up the SG? So far I only see the readme for 1.17b so I guess the patch isn't out quite yet.

Germany conquers France!

The new German Chancellor, Joeseph IV, has brought peace to the land from sea to sea.
France is no more, Long Live Germany!

Our attack was swift and crushing, and produced a Great Leader, who returned to Munich to inspire the populace to build a great cathedral for a composer named Johann Sabastian Bach!

The Art of War was completed in Schleswig, but no Golden Age materialized.
(???)

Our learned collegues developed a means to navigate by the stars, Astronomy! A massive device to study the Heavens is now underway in Berlin, an Observatory dreamt up by a man named Copernicus.

Japan and India both imitate us, but our lead is certain. We will finish ours first! Damn the Japanese, who finished the Sistine Chapel just ONE year ahead of us. Russia also beat us to Leonardo's workshop.

Now its Germany's turn! WE will build Great Wonders ahead of the rest! :hammer:

We look into a new financial concept called Banking now, which will lead us to a new era of wealth in ECONOMICS!!!
A man named Adam Smith has some GOOD IDEAS...
*BIG HINT*

Germany's future looks bright!

Good job Joe!

LKendter is up next!

And I am proud to report that we are in FINE shape! :D

You can raise the science rate to 60% and still make $$$ each turn. I STRONGLY urge we go for Adam Smiths next, thus researching Economics after banking.

If we build that, we are the Kings of the World! No one will catch up to us!
:mwaha:

I built ALOT of aquaducts and markets, but we need more. Especialy markets, then banks for Wall Street.

We will beat them all to Copernicus, I started 4 turns ahead of Japan and maximized the production of Berlin by taking tiles away from Rostock.

Have a blast, its all downhill now.

I smell Panzer fumes...

;) I smell some already. I also smell some newly made destroyers... Wish I could play :( I doubt I can play here because I have to go for a few weeks to see family, but I will stay connected once my Laptop comes in.

Well all I can say is, good luck. And may much crepes, sashimi, curry, and vodka be with you!

Notice to all players:

I will be installing the new v1.17 patch as of Friday, and I assume everyone else will be too.

If there are any problems concerning this, please let me know.

Its LKendters turn, build Adam Smith's for me! $$$ :D
