Random thoughts by Jackjb1964Handey...I think we're on the same page here. What governments is everyone in? I forgot.
I'm just recalling that Council announced going medieval on turn 97 and here we are now just past turn 115.

Council, being Korean, is Scientific & Commercial. So, did they switch to Feud on 97 or just announced getting in the MI? Anyway, I'm not positive they switched to Feud but they did mention that worker loads had doubled so I'm assuming they did.

Team Free is Sumerian and therefore, Scientific & Agricultural. Hmmm, first time I realized that two scientifics are teamed up.

Anyway, if Council was up and running w/ Feud on 97 then they and Free have had 17 turns in the Middle ages with one or two free techs. Let's assume 2 freebies (both getting Feud or Eng is only a 22% chance) and we know that one wasn't Mono but that Council now has had it for at least 4 turns.

Therefore, starting on Eng & Feud there's 5 techs to MilTrad (inclusive). And since it's linear, at a minimum of 4 turns a pop, they're at most through Metal. If they're at a 5 turn clip then they're just past Chem. Hand-waiving analysis around here is that they're not past Chem.

Well, we think our play is to sit on our butts and let the FC axis come to us either by suicide galley or after they're on Astro or if the situation demands.

ok, hell ya, I agree, let's screw those guys...let's attack one of them. Backstab Council would be fine with me as it is surely within the possibilities of the game. Or was backstabbing banned? I don't think so.

But, what about WW if we go into an AW sort of mode? Republic ain't that hot for AW. Communism a bit far off to the future.
 
Backstabbing is not against the rules. It comes down to whether we'd abide by our agreements. I've always felt one should honor their agreements and I've never broken one. I'm torn on that so someone could try to convince me since I'm more of a SG guy than a HOF or GOTM guy.

On WW who said we have to declare? My theory is let them try to boot us while we build a stack on one of their lands. Regarding the other teams it would simply be sinking their boats or blocking them in deep waters. I'm not sure that would entail a lot of WW.
 
No WW whatsoever when we force block, little WW over time if we lose battles IIRC - either way non-invasive plans aren't WW intensive.
 
I didn't know you were suggesting a passive setup..of course WW won't be a problem.

I actually would like us to drop off the stack of MW etc and then attack them and take/raze their towns as soon as we can. Let them feel the pain and sink their SS dreams

Unless there is a significant difference between single- and multi-player, war happiness should work in republic. I think it's monarchy, which has no war weariness either, that has no war happiness effect. I most often use republic in my solo games, and the happiness effect certainly works then.
 
WH is the effect of a negative WW value. No WW governments only cancel the effects of positive WW. All governments have some scaling of the amount of happy/unhappy depending on your amount of WW points, from a lot to none, but none is only for positive. They all give you WH so long as you maintain negative WW.
 
To add to theory of a landing we could land units on Council since we have peace till turn 129. We aren't breaking any agreements by doing this.
 
I think I would rather keep within the "normal" interpretation of a peacetreaty and landing while it is in effect is at least in my view a breach of it. We have been called some ugly things and not too many of them have been mature in their critique but i do think we can keep our heads high if we continue to play "almost" fairly. There are only 10 turns left on the treaty, next turn we play is 119, I sent Ships towards Go'Go's last turn and we could see how the community react when we get a couple of tiles on their mainland, demand they remove them and then... Should we be extra lucky with culture, SABER is lower in overall culture too, then we can play it out as originally planned. It is a question of waiting just until we are allowed by the current treaty. We continue building at home and send a stack of ships (next stack) on FREE.
 
Culture wars at Go Go is expensive, inefficient and unreliable imho. While the peace treaty is still in action, it did not include passage considerations - which it should have if they wanted their homeland to be exclusive. I'm quite for the Council landing plan.
 
One reason we may want to do this is to set precedent. If this becomes public and everyone's against us it means when our cultural expands onto Saber then they'd be doing the same as us and they should be removed from our lands.
 
He was also wondering what our galley was doing in their territory. I think we agreed to talk when we go into each other's territories so I don't think they see it as a big deal.
 
I think Killercane wants to send boats to Free so Council and Free might be forced to share lower half techs. Maybe we should lead them with our galley there.
 
Should we go via the resource island north of GONG? I sure hope they have found it BTW. I'll move the Galley towards it.
