GFC2 - Japan, Warlord, Full.

If ripley hasn't posted a file by Feb 05, 12:07 PM GMT then whoever's next can play. Hopefully, he's already downloaded though.

I should finish in about 6 to 7 hours. Sorry Ripley:(

I hope you can continue with us this game.

Sorry, I got distracted.

370BC - Started Ironworking.

350BC - Switched Tokyo to GL. Three galleys being built. The french are sailing past.

330BC - 270BC Worker movements.

250BC - Two galleys sail out. One toward the french and one to the west.

210BC - Iron working finished. Mathematics started. We need aquaducts.

190BC - We have two iron sources. One will be connected.

170BC - Iron source connected. Three cities making galleys will switch to swordmen.

130BC - Cleo requests we leave her waters and builds an embassy in our capital. Their capital is right near our island. I think we should take it. I have not seen an egyptian swordman so I thinkl we should move soon. We can exploit the egyptians techs out of them then, and get some more land. We meet the Iroquois and trade territory maps.

110BC - We have found horses. We might be wise to take a settler there. No horses exist on our current island.

90BC - Met the Babs and traded territory maps. Met the indians and traded nothing. Everyone has heaps more tech than us.

50BC - 40 turns for construction. Changed to Lit in case someone finishes the GL. England has the Pyramids.

10BC - We have met the russians. Nothing traded. Once again, everybody has more tech than us. I had to drop our rate a touch.

My direction in playing was towards thumping the french, once I had seen where they are, to increase our city and tech count.

I just finished and wrote the summary OOOHH
I will post it anyway... feel free to continue with whichever save you want. I dont mind really but i cant play again now.
I wish I had seen ripleys post earlier.I should have connected beforewriting the summary. AHHH

Here is the summary I wrote on a word file:cry:
Situation at 390 BC :
the Japanese are a technologically backward people. Egypt has about 8 techs more than us
they don’t know much about the world. Egypt knows almost everybody and we...
others have swords while Japan doesn’t even know about archers.
We are a prehistoric nation!!!
Rule of King Ouzzosama the King who enlightened Japan
As soon as the King Ouzzosama took rule he decided to build the colossus it wont take much

370 BC A Japanese pioneer discovered how to use ships after seeing them with the Egyptians
In celebration the King decided to build a great lighthouse instead of his forbidden palace.
In plan to enlighten Japan the king decided that we must not reinvent the wheel but we shall
buy the knowledge gained by others as cheap as we can get it from them

350 BC Building 4 Galleys in order to explore the world that Egypt knows and we don’t

330 BC we give Egypt 77 Gold for Mysticism --> we must save money

270 BC we are building a harbor in Osaka in case we may trade luxury with Egypt

210 BC our inferior scientists discover Warrior code huh

190 BC Egypt is heard to be building the Great Library

170 BC we discover the Iroquois ppl and we buy from them Horseback riding for 30gold + territory map.
WE are surprised to hear that some strange ppl we haven’t met ( the English ) built a pyramid
The Iroquois built the great library. that explains why they were in a good mood and sold us cheaply.

90 BC we find the Russians and the King negotiated buying Mathematics for 35 gold + World Map

50 BC we discover Iron Working and WE HAVE 2 IRON hah we can now think of WAR and not be crushed
Egypt does not have swordsmen but I don’t think that will last

30 AD we buy Philosophy for 20 gold + World Map from Iroquois

50 AD we meet Babylon and buy polytheism from them for 4 gold + 1 gold/turn + world Map
We also meet the Indians and buy Literature for world map + 1 gold per turn
I guessed that 40 gold over 20 turns are not a very high cost.

King Ouzzosama Dies

Situation in 50 AD.
Japan has contact with Egypt - Iroquois - Russia - Babylon - India
all these civs have the advantage of knowing the English
All these civs know code of laws tech and we will discover it in 9 turns.
We are broke.
We have constructed many archer units and are now constructing swordsmen in preparation of attacking Egypt. My advice is save money and get others to war on our side.
there is land to our left that has one Egyptian city and we can settle there.
one of our priorities is to get horses.

I think we might complete the lighthouse. but if the next king decides to change it to hanging gardens for example please do.
SORRY we are researching Monarchy now I thought we could get code of laws cheap.
and negotiate for buying techs when ur treasury is low.

GOOD LUCK

I guess ripley and I were on the same route but I just played a few more turns.
Again feel free to continue with whatever save you want. I have no hard feelings about this. I just needed to post the summary that took so long to write.:goodjob: :king:

I guess it's my turn, but I don't know which one to use? Don't make me the one to decide...

If I were you I'd choose Ripley's because he posted his first. But you have the final say...or maybe Gonzo.

Play 6-of-octobers game. He played a few more turns, and technically Ripley was skipped.

To Ripley: try to be a little quicker next time, we aren't mad at all but we would like to keep up the pace so if you are going to take some extra time just post an let us know.

lets get moving :D

Hi everyone - Well It certainly was a momentous reign for me this time! We have left our home island and made war against the Egyptians, and made several gains, but at the cost of many brave Japanese warrior souls. We also completed 2 wonders! Read on!

50 AD - Pre Turn: Well this is certainly an interesting predicament! Only one thing I see that I can change immediately - Since our cities are at their max size due to lack of rivers, I rearrange the city workers to maximize production instead of gathering wasted food. This shaves 2 turns of the Colossus, 2 off the lighthouse, and 2 off of a swordsman! Three cheers for micromanagement! [party]

70 AD - A Galley produced in Satsuma, another started. Ahoy Mates!

90 AD - Osaka produces a swordsman... :ninja:

110 AD - Some Babylonian warriors put on a show for a passing galley by killing some barbarians. How nice of them!

130 AD - Osaka's cultural influence expands. I decide to whip granaries that were previously started in tundra cities to get started on the war effort.

150 AD - Kyoto completes the Colossus!!! [dance] Switching to swordsman. Oops! Some of our swordsman cities don't have barracks! I remedy the situation... It's nice being militaristic!

170 AD - The Russians establish an embassy with us! We also stumble across an Egyptian city way off in the middle of nowhere.

190 AD - England contacts us! (Someone must have sold them communications). They offer to trade us territory maps straight up - and we accept! They are HUGE! I whip out a galley in Kagoshima - Invasion pending!

210 AD - Kyoto starts on the Great Library. (They just produced another swordsman). Another swordsman produced in Eto - all moving to the staging point in Kagoshima. A key road for troop movements is completed. Our people expand my palace! How nice!

230 AD - It's coming!!!! The boats are loaded... Invasion next turn!!

250 AD - 6 swordsman land right next to Pi-Ramesses! :die!:

260 AD - Amazingly enough, Cleo asks us what the heck we are doing with 6 swordsman next to her city, and we respond by declaring war! How's that for an explanation! :mwaha: An Egyptian galley appears out of nowhere near Kyoto! I hope there’s no units on it... We switch to a swordsman there just in case. We capture Pi-Ramesses at the loss of 1 swordsman.

270 AD - An archer appears and kills a veteran swordsman! Our archer returns the favor. We are two turns from building lighthouse.

280 AD - Assault on Alexandria - No losses!!!! We move inland and what appears but the Egyptian Capitol! In DISORDER!

290 AD- WE HAVE TAKEN THE EGYPTIAN CAPITOL! Lose 2 swordsmen. Our archer kills another archer caught outside the walls. No promotions??? I thought we were militaristic??? We also complete the great lighthouse in Tokyo! Wow, what a year 290 AD turned out to be!!! :cooool:

300 AD - We are informed that the Iroquois and Russia have formed military alliance against India! At least we aren't the only ones at war! I start the Oracle in Kyoto for no particular reason other than that I've been liberally applying the whip... The next ruler should change it to something better. The Egyptians are building the great library??? Shouldn't the be building spearmen? :D

310 AD - Resistance in Thebes ended - moving on the new capitol of Heliopoils.

320 AD - I whip a barracks in Thebes to kill off some of those Egyptian population - I suggest we continue that. We sink that blasted Egyptian galley previously mentioned. We will attack both Heliopolis and Memphis next turn. :rocket2:

330 AD - Thebes rioting... Oops. The attacks are starting to falter. We lose 3 swordsman in the attack on Memphis, and don't take it! We do however take the new Egyptian capitol at Heliopolis :goodjob: We also lose 3 swordsman there however! Due to the heavy losses, I contact the Egyptians and sue for peace. They accept, and give us Construction, Code of Laws, a worker, their World Map (!), and 19 gold. They won't offer any gold per turn, which means they are already running negative.

I have decided to stop here, at the conclusion of the first great war of Japanese history. As soon as reinforcements arrive at the front, I suggest re-opening hostilities. The world map they gave us was great - everything on our side of the world is visible. I suggest we also use the lighthouse to find the other continents and sell communications back to our world.

Good Luck!

Our new lands!

hey charliehoke, what graphics mod are you using??

Sorry. I had finished the game within the 48 hours but couldn't post thanks to me having lent my dial-up connection to my parents.

My University offer finally came through so I've also been celebrating. [dance]

I've downloaded it, hopefully will post when I get home today, I only have a few minutes now.

330 AD(Pre-turn): Lots of trading.

Iriquois:
Gave - World Map, 23 Gold
Got - Contact w/Persians

Persia:
Gave - World Map, Contact w/Egyptians
Got - World Map, 180 Gold

England:
Gave - World Map, Contact w/Persians
Got - World Map, 32 Gold, 3 gold/turn

Russia:
Gave - World Map
Got - World Map, 50 Gold

Babylon:
Gave - World Map
Got - World Map, 30 Gold

India:
Gave - World Map, Contact w/Persians
Got - World Map, 12 Gold, 3 gold/turn

Net Gains: -23 + 180 + 32 + 50 + 30 + 12 + 3/turn(60) + 3/turn(60) = 401 Gold, without giving up any tech.
All in all some pretty nice trading! Gotta love the Great Lighthouse. It definately earns the name 'Great'. Didn't try and get Republic from anyone because I figured we can beat it out of the Egyptians for no cost after the next war(in the peace treaty signing)

340: Optimized production in Kyoto a little, to get the Oracle a little faster. Iriquois build Great Library, so everybody else switches to Oracle.

350: Babylon builds Oracle, so I switch to Great Wall in Kyoto.

360: Egypt moves archer into our territory. They say they'll move it, but we'll see....

370 - Moscow produces Great Wall, so Kyoto is switched to Aqueduct. Even with the stored up shields it will still take 3 more turns.

380 - Pre-invasion troop movement is finishing up. Outside Memphis is 5 veteran Swordsmen, Outside Giza(new capital) is 3 veteran Swordsmen, an elite Swordsman, and a veteran Archer.

390 - Everyone moved into place, so I advance into Egypt and after the turn they declare war.

400 - Captured Memphis at the cost of two Swordsmen, Giza takes two turns to get to so I couldn't attack it this turn.

410 - Captured Giza, no units lost, although three of them are down to 1 HP :)

420 - Troop movement to front lines.

430 - More troop movement

440 - More troop movement Bangalore is captured by Babylonians(didn't know they were fighting with the Indians, I only knew about the Iriquois and Russians). If the Indians start getting really beat up on I think I'll try and get a slice of the pie, with minimal work and risk they'll probably give up a lot for peace.

450 - Troop movement. The last two Egyptian cities that aren't in the middle of nowhere are now right next to the Swordsmen attack groups. Just wait till next turn.....

460 - El Amarna razed, since it was a size 1 city and you can't capture those. No units lost. Elephantine captured, no units lost. Monarchy discovered, switch into Anarchy to go into Monarchy. Start researching Currency.

470 - Tried to make peace(all of the cities that the current attack force can reach are gone), but Egypt refuses to accept our envoy. Since we have a lot of money(500-something), I established embassies in all the 5 civs we don't have them with yet. Babylon is producing the Hanging Gardens(just started) and will complete it in 30 turns. Kyoto can get it in 21 turns so I switch to it.

480 - Egypt still won't talk. I trade our World Map around for a total of about 50 Gold, apparently it's not so hot anymore :)

490 - I'm not sure when, but Bangalore has since been recaptured by the Indians. I see that the penninsula just to the west of us, is being heavily settled by the Egyptians(3 cities plus probably more on the way), so because it has horses and is also a fertile land(mostly grasslands, a little plains and forest, with two fishes, a whale, a cattle, the aforementioned horses, a bunch of shield tiles, and furs) and is close to the capital, it seems we should kick the Egyptians out from there and claim it for ourselves. Should be easy, with their strength.

500 - Start moving swordsmen(lots of them elite now :p) to the area around Kyoto in preparation for the next invasion of Egypt.

510 - Egypt moves two archers right next to Elephantine, I only have one veteran swordsman there. I attack one, as a 3 vs 1 then a 2 vs 2 is better than two 2 vs 2 matches. Sadly he now only has two hp left. next turn will see if it must be recaptured....

520 - Elephantine swordsman wins the battle, saving the day and becoming an elite in the process! That battle was important and hard enough to produce a great leader, but whatever :) It will produce Spearman in 4 turns so that scare shouldn't happen again.

530 - Nothing but troop movement.

540 - Landed a meager invasion force right next to one of Egypt's cities on the new fruited plains I talked about in 490 AD, all the elite and most of the vet swordsmen are still either on the main continent or the old Egyptian continent. With a galley, found a two-square island of Tundra really close to the Indians that while isn't a very good city spot, has whales and could have oil later in the game. It might be worth it.

I think that might have been 21 turns, 330 AD seemed to just be the end of the previous turn. If it was in fact 21 though, sorry.

We should invade Egypt's new continent, since it has horses, they can build their unique unit(it's 3/1/2 i think) once they connect the horses there online, and it will be MUCH harder once they do that. I don't think they can produce many of them in their current state but I wouldn't get too comfortable. Plus I don't think we'll ever make peace with them unless we take a couple more cities.
