Give me 18, but not on Earth - new PBEM

So i did some testing and tried to load the first turn savegames from PBEMTRACKER. The first save that gave me the error was:
Give_me_18,_but_not_on_Earth_BC-4000_to_Tudaio.CivBeyondSwordSave

I would guess that the error has something to do with the previous player, who recorded this save - thats Maijc.

I think this suggests that the error is not from the comma thing, and the error has nothing to do with first or second turns. The error is not from name changes, pbemtracker, or from my own settings, i guess, as i could load every other save until almost to the end of the player list.

Possible solution would be, if Maijc commented on his Civ 4 setup (system, hardware, mods, settings, anything out of the ordinary) and for the next round tried to change it to as standard as possible. And then maybe it will load on my end..

This still does not explain why i couldnt load the "fred" save, maybe its a whole other problem or maybe on that game there is someone who also runs something that does not make my system happy.

edit: i just realised that i have played with Maijc before in a PBEM game and everything worked fine there, the last Maijc save I loaded there was from 22. december 2011 (he was just before me in the turn order). So unless he has changed anything since then..

I somewhat doubt this, I think your system is borked somehow.....

The reply from Aspyr, the company that ports Civ4 to Mac:

"Yes, you might be getting that error message as the content from Mac to PC might be a little bit different. If even just one other PC player has any kind of other extra added content or mods and the others don't they will still be able to play, unfortunately whatever the content is, it won't be recognized by Mac and would have multiple errors when trying to play the game.

PBEM tracker sent me a message saying it was my turn, but I already played it (3920BC) and sent it on a few days ago...

EDIT: I mean 3960BC, not 3920BC - that's the turn I am waiting for...

3920 is on the tracker and up to you... thats the year we are all on right now. Just check the uploads on the tracker, its definitely there I just checked.

There is indeed an entry in view turns for PS in the 3920 slot.
BUT.
When you go to download it the actual filename is still 3960....

not sure if the wrong file was uploaded or its a tracker problem.

Has anyone pinged bjarkekr for a check and resend ?

I create a folder I name "Sent" withing pbem/18 player game folder, after sending or uploading I then place that current just uploaded in the sent folder (later I delete the old files)

The only negative is that there wouldn't be an overwrite warning if I've played the same turn twice but i almost always know because of where things are, other than that I take extensive notes to remember my goals and movement locations.

This morning Chi has been sent on from bjarkekr to PS via pbemtracker.

The entry in 18 appears unchanged.
I assume bjarkekr has PS's email address from Chi, so he may have sent it by email instead.

Did we ever have an email list of everyone's email addresses for 18 ?
Might help at times like this.



I also have a history folder under each game, where all playd and sent is shoved.
However, I also generally use Ruff Hi's emailer, which automatically picks up the last file created (or modified, not sure which)

I just bought the steam version of civ complete, because I had to reinstall my computer last weekend and it was easier to install than finding cd's and updating

Does anyone know how to make the steam version open savegames automaticly? Right now I have to load it via the ingame menu.

I have gotten most emails. I will send out some PMs to collect the few I am missing and then sent out a mass email with everyone's emails for everyone's records so people can follow up on little errors like that last one.

Depending on which operating system you are using search for the (file association) dialog box, find the extension click on it and browse threw your folders and click the main BTS application and hit apply (I think there would be a box to check to do this everytime)

If you need more details just tell me which windows you are using else mac I'd be know help
