Give me 18, but not on Earth - new PBEM

@Nighthawk419

In regards to email addresses
Some addresses are obvious but some have no way of knowing which player/username they are attached

Depending on which operating system you are using search for the (file association) dialog box, find the extension click on it and browse threw your folders and click the main BTS application and hit apply (I think there would be a box to check to do this everytime)

If you need more details just tell me which windows you are using else mac I'd be know help

Hi,

Unfortunately thats not enough in steam. It can open the game up but it doesnt automaticly load the save as it does with the dvd version.

See more here:

I have tried some of the things in that thread with no luck. I have added fsxload to the registry and I tried making a shortcut to the bts. exe file where I added fxsload. None of that worked.

:yeah: in the slot

It really shouldn't matter how or from where the game was installed, it is at this point locally installed.

In windows you can right click on a sav file and mouse over the "open with" in the dialog box. There should be a "choose default program" option, from there dig for the .exe and check the box to "Always use this selected program to open this kind of file".

After this you simply double click the sav attachment in your email and the game launches that sav

Sorry but no.. Its not just that :) See the thread I have linked to if you dont believe me :)

Associating the file type with bts. will just open the game, and not load the savegame. And this is a specific steam problem. It works fine with the cd installation. And im going to install that soon instead, because this is a drag when playing more than one pbem :)

Ahh that suck! I am so glad after the cd install the disks can be put away, a safeguard to my beloved Hehe.

at least now 18+ people know of this issue and can pass it on, unfortunately I see a trend with this type of game purchasing.

Yeah.. I only purchased it on steam because I thought it would be easier, and I had to reinstall anyway because of a new motherboard.

FYI: when you re-upload a turn to the tracker it will overwrite the old one. So if you upload a foobed turn, you can fix it and re-upload before the next guy grabs it, and all is well... it'll also send another email (and text if a mobile email is specified) so as long as the next guy uses the latest email things should keep rolling.

So we are around to rd13 again. I'm waiting to hear if it works for him yet, otherwise I will do his turn and with his permission find a replacement. It looks like "day 1" and "day 2" rotations are running smoothly, but "day 3" michkov's slot is "a little early" and of course we have the rd13 issues and potential replacement. If we get to needing a potential replacement I'm going to use turn timing as my #1 criteria, hopefully someone who can go a bit later in the day for michkovs benefit while still meeting the next persons timing. Thanks to everyone for hitting your timing right on otherwise!

PS - steam sucks all around. Digital download from amazon works just fine! :)

Just to give everyone an update, rd13 has decided to drop since he can't fix his problem. I just sent out some PM's to the replacement list to bring in a replacement. My first criteria is finding someone to fit in the GMT 1500-1900 slot. This timing is pushed back in the day a bit in order to take some pressure off Michkov who goes before him. I also contacted the creator of PBEMtracker, and he can easily swap in the new player into our game behind the scenes without having to re-invite everyone. I am going to take rd13's turn over lunch today and keep the game moving - hopefully by the time the next round comes the replacement player will be in and ready to go.

Otherwise it appears everyone is hitting their time slot and staying on schedule, so this is great, thanks everyone. Hopefully I can meet some of you in-game one of these days!

Oh now that´s just bad timing, I won´t be able to play for this whole weekend due to being abroad and I think you will have found a replacement by Monday. Unless none of the other replacement players jump in until then, I guess you can count me out for now.

Cheers.

re the PM ...
One player seems to have trouble loading his turns onto his machine, he is running with a MAC and there is some sort of compatability issue with someone else who has a mod loaded.
It isn't a mod. If someone was playing with a mod, then that person couldn't load the pbem game. If the game started with a mod, everyone has to use that mod.

The issue with the mac could be related to a game admin password. Apparently, MACs cannot open pbem games that have such a password.

NB: I am not available as a sub.
