I have a fiance (spelling?). I don't rely on logic, I just rely on what feels right and relevant to me.

Well blast, my degree is going nowhere.

If it's a philosophy degree it's going straight with an arrow, if psychology then same as, otherwise I can't see where it will be going as most of the others deal in absolutes. Only the other two are arts more than sciences.

When I wade through all the mathematics and finally start to learn my degree assuming I can, I'll finally understand this certainty that exists in the field, that absolutely without physucal evidence you are right. Shame I can't take the subject further, because it seems when you do you start saying things like probably and maybe. It's good to have doubts, makes us human and scientific at the same time.

He's right though I live in a maximum security prison, I have gotten some interest from the cell 4 over on the righ beneath the leaky pipe, drives me nuts that thing. I'm never getting out as well so, most likely I will never taste the sweet flesh, feel the blood pumping in my veins and the rage building in my fibres, the lust, the unquenchable primal atavism that floods my mind and rends my soul. Still never mind, it's fair really considering what I done.

BAH! too late now, maybe if you'd of said that three years ago those women may still have been dead but I could of used the force to convince the jury, instead of that self loathing piece of real estate that stitched me up.

This can be true for both sides of a disagreement.

You fail to see that this is just a belief. The fact that Southerners are better is based on hard evidence, namely that we are cooler.

Someone ressurect the old thread, I enjoyed the banter, even though it was patently obvious we won in the end. Of course we are cooler, we can afford to buy shades as we're not all unemployed like the Northerners

I can think of a few posters (Eran, VRWC come to mind) whose positions I generally disagree with, yet for whom I have more respect than a number of posters with whom I agree (and of course, the vast majority of posters I disagree with).

This is in no small part due to their ability to realize when a statement they made cannot hold, and their willingness to consider they may not always be right and know everything. They do not "give up" in debates in my mind, but we could all learn a thing or two from them on that front (present company included).
