GK2- The Training Day Experiment

That would be great Tron.

Ok, I guess I got it. I'll look at the save and come up with a plan and then play.

Thank you gents. It's a a real pleasure hangin' in this 'hood.

Happy Birthday, Bede!

The turns are going slow, sorry. I thought it might be tough getting them done. I don't work tomorrow, so I can play later tonight than normal. I'll have it posted soon.

This is my first succession game, and it's a lot harder than it looks. It takes a lot more time, and I seem to be putting a lot more thought into it.

Taking your time and playing smartly is one of the best lessons you can learn. It helps you to stay focused on the short and long term goals.

My turns are finally done. I'll have a turn log, pics and the save posted tonight.

Preflight Check

F1 - Check cities.
MM Tblisi add second tax man, still in resistance.
MM Novgorod change clown to tax and add tax, still in resistance.
MM Grand River, change clown to tax.

Science at 50/0, Corporation in 4, will probably go for Sanitation next.

Fance, 7 Gold, Polite
Germany 141 Gold, Polite
England, 4 Gold, Annoyed

War Plans: I need to be prepared for a little more resistance than in the early turns of the war. I expect Russia will be rushing and drafting Riffles. I could expect to see to or three in cities now. I may have to plan for a break of 1 to 3 turns for reinforcements.

Also, I need some Settlers to fill in the border gaps in our new Russian territory.

We have an opportunity to trade luxuries with France and Germany. France will give all gold and 28 gpt for 4 luxuries and Germany will give all gold and 4 gpt for 2 luxuries. Rushed Temple in Vladivostok
Rushed Temple in Tblisi

Built Neodakheat in our new Russian lands
Built Oiogouen in our new Russian lands

Pass off report. I think we're in a great position now to build up our production centers.

I've started a lot of factories and other infrastructure builds. I think we should build a few more settlers to fill in the remaining gaps. Also, I was thinking we should irrigate over some of the mines in the old Zulu and Japanese lands, especially around the cities that are plagued by corruption. We still have a lot of cash, it might be a good time to rush some more infrastructure. We are also light on defensive units and have a lot of undefended cities. I don't think we are at risk of a major military attack, but it is a risk.

To summarize I think we should proceed like this:
1. Switch to Democracy
2. Focus on Factories and production in our core.
3. Focus on irrigation and growth everywhere else.
4. Build more cities, to fill gaps and take advantage of land.
5. Build more defensive units for protection.

Our lands in Mother Russia.

I'll have time for a quick look over tonight while waiting for Bugsy to file his daily dispatch in Mag7+1.

umm... I'd just like to point out this is a space race game, but yet everyone's stragety seems geared more towards war then peace. Shouldn't we be working more on trading instead of warfare? Is easy to bonk heads, but the real fun in the game is bring the other guy to your point, then using him to move ehead still. And while we do that, we can build a massive army in case one of the other powers gets out of hand.

Alright, weds is my last day of school until like april 3rd, and I want to get a round or two in.;) So, I think we should make peace and gift as much as we can to the other guys until everyone is at the same level. Is easier to trade that way. And come on, everyone here nows how to fight a bloody war.:p

Edit: And we don't want to build to many cities... may get to close to domination limit. All we need is about 10 cities in the core which are productive... rest of the cities can whip out units.

Yeah I think this is or should be the last war. In my turns we got Hoovers, I did a lot of improving in our core and I started a lot of factories. Our neighbors don't seem to have the greatest economies. I'm a little surprised the England doesn't have a better economy. I traded some luxeries, to increase gpt and maybe help their economies a little.

When do we start trading techs? Should we trade one now to capture their remaining gold, or wait until we have one or two more?

That was a marathon.

You should be careful about pushed the domination limit if we're going to go for space. Edit - oops, I guess Alerum already said that.

You have a flip risk in some of the those Russian cities. You may not want to sign a treaty until the new cities are under control. That way in case they flip back to Cathy, you can recapture them.

Are we still trying to experience every government type in this game? If so we should probably switch to COMM on our way to DEM and do some economic comparisons of the different governments, before making the hard tech push for space.

That is a very good idea Gator. How about the next player take a few snapshots of F1 and maybe our capitol and a far away corrupt city screen in Republic and Commie. Then we'll look at the various governments.

I was concerned about the domination limit, so I was paying careful attention to it each turn. We should be okay filling in the gaps in our territory, but I wouldn't push it any more than that.

I'm more concerned about flipping cities than the dom limit. Those cities with a common Russian border will need more culture. I debated remaining at war, but ultimately decided that it was time for peace. I think if we build one of our own cities Northwest of St. Petersburg, that should help. I have two settlers over there right now.

I like the idea of playing in comm for a while. I haven't played vanilla in a long time, so it would make a great comparison to how commie works in conquests.

Good turns tron! I'm on the road right now so I can't look at the save but it looks like you mopped 'em up but good :D One question to the team. What are your thoughts about sanitation? I never take the side road to get that one if I'm planning on space or UN win. Do you waste the 4 turns? Do you think it will help in the end?
