Gnb3 Pbem!!!

Oh and Voltar since you asked me, however indirectly, how i make the maps i will tell you.

It is a manual process and yes it takes me absolutely ages. I used to do maps to order for each PBEM but i decided that was a huge wastes of time lol. So what i did is made a map of europe with all the countries of the modern world on it so now i have a template which i can, well quite frankly, colour in. Im posting the white version of the europe map. This took me about 3 days to complete, totally manual work, i must be mad :D

Oh yes sorry for threadjacking for the moment but hey Voltar wanted to know. :D

This is my world map, which by the way was infinately harder than my europe one. But i suppose you guessed that. ;) Anyway europe was simple, it was just a sized down version of the map i just posted, and the main part of north america was easy because theres only about 2 countries on it :D Also south america was relitavely easy because of the large countries. In fact the only one i had a real problem with was Africa, i mean look at it!!! This was all manual work and well i hope you find some use for it sometime in the future, i wont tell you the amount of time it took, try guessing :king:

Austria strongly suggests a cease-fire in Spain- France has taken the Spanish capital, and the important Mediterranean cities, while Britain has so far observed the neutral status of Spain.

France I willing to agree to a cease-fire in Spain after Cordoba is captured next month.

As to Britain has so far observed the neutral status of Spain, I think is because Britain doesn’t have the military strength to capture any former Spanish cities. It's hardly any more noble reason than that.

France doesn’t want war with its neighbours in the east. France cannot sit and wait for a British attack. PM Pitt is rumoured to have said that the only reason that French is having the "upper hand" is because we took the initiative. And he is probably right. France will keep the initiative on our side until peace with Britain is settled, not a moment before. We will not sit idle and wait for British attacks. The French people deserve that the leader of this country does it's best to secure the well being of its people.

-Napoleon-

We could have captured Spanish cities if we wanted to. We chose instead to respect Spanish soveringty and to continue the fight against French expansionism!

"The French appear worried about the prospect of British invasion, and Prussia recognises the legitimacy of the threat to one of the great peoples of Europe. We also recognise the need for the survival of an independent Spanish people. Therefore, we applaud the French calls for a cease fire in Europe and encourage the British to support them in order to end the threat they pose to the nation of France."
- Friedrich Wilhelm

If a peace is to be established the French must withdraw from Spain. If the French are allowed to control so much territory their power will grow rapidly, and then who will be next? After Spain it will be us, but then? Prussia? Austria?

Pitt

Dear Primer Minister Pitt,

I believe that you should take into account the important efforts that Friederich Wilhem have been doing to restore peace in our continent. If you don´t know, you are actually losing the war against France. Make up your mind dear friend and take a final decision.

Document 1799/08/R

* Mosul captured
* Turkish Empire practically destroyed

The ministers and experts of the university of Vienna have developed the following medium term proposal for the mapping of the Iberian Peninsula:

Terms suggested:

* A formal cease fire should preceed the settlement as the present cease of hostility seems volatile.

* France to retain control over the conquered territories in the centre and South-Eastern parts of Spain (including the Catalan principality)

* Since France has conquered the bigger cities on the peninsula, French presence is sufficiently guaranteed and no further conquest is essential for ensuring French rule over Madrid (etc)

* The 'Rump' (aka the cities of La Coruna, Granada, Cadiz) should be put under British authority, since the remaining cities without Madrid and/or Cordoba have no real chance for self defense on their own, while further French involvement would be highly precarious

* While both sides have voiced their claim for Cordoba the city should remain under Neutral rule until a settlement can be reached- as an alternative a certain time could be set until the city's Neutrality status can be abolished, and Cordoba be incorporated into any of the great powers' domains...

Napoleon welcomes the Austrian mediation attempt, but France does not agree to all points in the proposal.

* The 'Rump' (aka the cities of La Coruna, Granada, Cadiz) should be put under British authority, since the remaining cities without Madrid and/or Cordoba have no real chance for self defense on their own, while further French involvement would be highly precarious

Napoleon allmost fell off his chair reading that proposal. France will not accept any British expansion in Spian. Any attempt to increase the British "powerbase" in Spain is out of the question.

We will however consider a cease fire without taking Cordoba. The remaining cities would then remain Neutral.

* Since France has conquered the bigger cities on the peninsula, French presence is sufficiently guaranteed and no further conquest is essential for ensuring French rule over Madrid (etc)

This is only true if Britian does not get any further cities.

-Napoleon-

*Austrian industrialisation feared to be slowed by lack of funds !

*While the first trade routes are to be established next month, Austria's Economic advisors are concerned that the military build up of past days has considerably slowed future infrastructural modernisation...

---

*In other news, Austria is reported to successfully being on target in its naval operations with two new frigates delivered recently, a third one expected for next month

---

Austrian and Prussian Diplomats greeted having generated common ground with France in the Franco-British crises over the future of Spain. Austria aims at creating agreeable terms for both sides and cheered French offers to stop their advance in exchange for a status quo on the peninsula- British answers are still pending, with room for bartering (perhaps for the North-West of Spain) remaining.

England invaded!!

Today we saw the first phase of "Operation Force".

French forces landed today on the south coast of Britain, and immediately destroyed the forces defending Plymouth. It is believed that Plymouth was the HQ controlling the British War effort against France.

A second army landed south of London in preparation for a possible attack on London itself. Surprisingly, no shots where fired from the French forces.

--------------------

This letter is sent to all the leaders of Europe including the British:

T o the leaders of Europe!

The French people are tired of the so-called diplomatic efforts by the British Empire. Austrians attempt at mediation was ignored by Britain. France has continuously attempted to make peace with Britain. We did forward some demands as compensation for French losses, and the British response was rude and totally unrealistic.

To make one thing clear. France does not wish to occupy Britain, but we demand to be taken seriously by the leaders of Britain. The invasion of England is a last attempt to force the British leaders into facing the facts. France can and will take London and the rest of Britain if our demands are not met. This is Britain’s last chance at saving its country from destruction.

-----------

These are the French demands. If the British meet them, France will pull back from England:

*France demands Lisbon and 200 in cash as compensation for the French losses caused by British troops and naval vessels.
Britain can spread the payment over 10 months (20 pr month) if needed.

*The remainder Spanish cities, including Cordoba will remain Neutral.

*Gibraltar will remain under British control, but the fort defending Gibraltar coast will have to be demilitarised.

-------------

Napoleon also invites every leader to a summit in Paris January 1800, to discuss the shaping of the European continent. This will hopefully become an annual meeting.

-Napoleon-

After this invasion of Britain, we will sign NO treaty with the French. We were more then willing to sign a peace treaty, we did not want any further control on the Iberian Peninsula. All we requested is that France return the Spanish cities to their rightful owner!

* The French terms for a cease fire seem contradictory: They talk of status quo in Spain, yet renew their claim on Lisbon, certainly after having taken this city without effort Spain could at any given time be overrun by French troops...

* According to espionage reports the French have a sizeable Army on Spanish ground, whereas the British war effort has so far merely been a naval venture! French landings on British soil are unacceptable and serve the mere purpose of cutting supplies for the garrison in Spain!

* Austria is still allied with Britain and in turn calls upon her allies Russia and Prussia to come to terms and face the threat of the French "power-poker" over Spain.

France is open to suggestions conserning British compensation. But anything less than what is allready suggested is unacceptable.

Also, i think the Austian espionage reports are sadly lacking. You obviously need more agents ;)

"Prussia must object in the strongest possible terms to the French invasion of British territory under the pretence of a cease fire.

Although we recognise the French desire to negotiate from a position of strength their aggressive stance in Spain was enough to demonstrate this.

Britain appeared willing to negotiate over the status of Spain, although the words of its diplomats were at times ill chosen.
This invasion makes a nonsense of French claims of fear about
just such a British attempt.

Over the Iberian issue, Prussia is willing for the status of Lisbon to be negotiated. We propose that in exchange for the French abandonment of the less strategically important cities of Madrid and Cartagena, Britain allows the Spanish to claim Portugal.

The Chancellor of Prussia, James Affe, is to be despatched to Vienna for face to face talks with our ally the Kaiser. Let us not allow the heat of summer go to our heads, gentleman. The fate of Europe is in our hands."
-Friedrich Wilhelm
