Going Viking 2

Yes I like sequels (mainly to tidy up first releases) LOL.

Argh, I did not think many people would remember that Arthurian scenario. It wasn't very good but I blame the editor ;) Anyway I don't think I will remake that one- Check out the Camelot scenario by Azmorg if you like that sort of thing.
 
I have checked out the Camelot! scenario. It is very good.

Well, I really liked the Arthurian scenario, but the PTW editor was really screwy and would allow other factions to build units they weren't supposed to build! [pissed] Oh well. Anyway, good job.
 
I opened this up in the editor tonight for the first time in months and while I was there I made a few changes (15 mins spent total :))

Made Marsh impassable and then placed some blocking terrain to prevent
overland Norse Raiders menacing Lund.

Enabled Clear Forest Worker Ability.

Removed Join City from spearmen.

That's about all but I'm sure at least the first fix will make the game more enjoyable.

@TopGun69 - I hear you, Scenario creation does feel like real work and sometimes you need a diversion. What are you working on?

KingArthur you got Thors Hammer prebuild in Magdeburg now, is this intended?
I doubt it to be honest ;)

Edit: LoL, I have just checked the BIQ, you got Thors Hammer prebuild in about 40% of all cities! (I've removed them, if you want an amended BIQ). Was this some kind of intended random pre-build wonder, or did it use to be a different building, that should have been in the towns?

Whats about your future plans with an extended map etc. any news on that?
 
It shouldn't be prebuilt at all - seems something went screwy in my biq since I did not place them there. Please post the amended biq here and I'll link to it from the first post.

OK, here it comes. (The download for the final Dominion BIQ for KingArthurs Viking2 is at the end of this post).

First of all, what about the following map, for an enhanced Viking scenario? Its just croped out of an existing WWII Map (credits won't be forgotten), and needs some rework to fit for the Viking age. It also includes a small part of america, to make the "Vinland" voyage and colonies available. There could be resource for a Wonder or Spaceshipvictory in Vinland. Greenland has to be changed to make it colonizable, ... a lot to do, but its a good basis. IIRC its roughly 240x150. With this map, the Viking scenario could also concentrate on Éastern Europe (Baltic, Finland, Parts of Russia, Poland, Lithuania, etc.)

Interesting. I'd personally like to see a whole bunch of VP locals in New Foundland, a few in Greenland, and a couple in Iceland. This would encourage the player to settle there. However, I don't know what kind of effect this would have on the AI.
 
Ok first post is updated.

It's a nice map Mentat with bags of potential. I am retiring (or at least taking a very long break) from mod making after I complete EFZI2 so I can't commit to that project. You obviously have some mod making talent yourself so perhaps you should take it on.

Wine... duh! ;) Even though there never was any grape in Newfoundland (=Vinland = Wine land). :confused: Some historians are speaking about other types of berries but who cares..

These are great ideas Mentat. Although Vinland ans Markland should be full of these Skrælings (Beotuks and Montagnais maybe...)!!! It has to be hard to keep an efficient colony there!!

Nice of you to say so LM. The zombie scenario is taking up most of my time at the moment and is really draining. When I finish I plan to take a break of some months and ease back into scenario making if the scene is still alive. I've got many more unfinished ones: Steampunk, Apocalypse New York, Scottish War of Independence to name a few that I will probably continue to work on quietly but that's about it.

[KingArthur] I'd echo Lord Malbeth - you've made some great stuff, always imaginative and filled with original ideas. I do hope you finish the Steampunk mod one day, as I really love that sort of thing.
 
strange thing: my (Danish) Viking Riders cannot attack cities in a peace time. Norse Viking Riders can attack my cities and even can capture them during peace time.
 
Yes that is just the way Hidden Nationality works I'm afraid.

Still I think the AI having this advantage is a good thing because it makes them more of a threat and a challenge.

I knew that HN cannot attack cities in a peace time, but do you mean AI can do it just because it's AI, no other reason? :/

Yes it is a threat and a challenge, thats why "destroying Norse completely" was my top priority. I almost finished scenario, it's like about 5000 pts left. Really good job, probably the most interesting one I've ever played. Besides, are non-viking nations playable by human, can they stand a chance against vikings? I think I will try it :)

And two small bugs: WON_SPLASH_BLDG_Wall_Street - missing # symbol at the beginning, game crashes. And Leif Ericson Voyage splash pcx is RGB color, not indexed, so game crashes.

Edit: I'm sorry I was too lazy to read 4 pages before. Now I see this was already discussed :D

Perhaps supplying some data one what the map should be like in certain areas and suggestions to do so would help? It intrigues me so..
