Presidents of Confederacy, Latin American nations, announce phase two of Bolivar plan!
Top Military Leaders of South America Saluting President Goldwater for his effots
President Goldwater finished his meeting with the heads of all CAN Latin American states earlier today to discuss the future of the newly reformed and growing democracies. What he has deemed as "Phase 2" of the Bolivar Plan, President Goldwater laid out an extensive and ambitious plan for further South American reform.
"The first phase of the plan was a roaring success," Announced the President, "And we must aim high for phase 2 and expect similar results."
The plan outlines, among other things, freedom of the press and civil service reform combined with government accountability to reduce corruption that is already on the downturn throughout South America.
The Primary aspect of the plan is the implementation of a new currency as soon as the nations reach an acceptable level of stability (7 or higher). This new currency will be unique to each country, and attempt to deal with the super-inflation which had plagued the nations for so long in the past, restoring confidence and allowing a new start for the countries seeking relief from unstable economic futures. Many Latin American states still tie their currency to that of the CSA Dollar.
Overall economic liberalization, with the eventual goal of total government non-intervention, is the goal of this new phase. Though political and social reforms, especially regarding corruption and freedom of the press, are involved, they are being superceded for now to the recovery of the fragile South American economies.
President Goldwater also announced his hopes for, perhaps in the distant future, common currencies among South American nations, like that envisioned by many in the European Union. This would only come, however, once South America's future is totally secure and stable, but would create an environment where all members are motivated to ensure freedom and stability for all.
