Good lord! "COMPLETE" civ is out and NO FINAL PATCH?

As I said in my previous post, I'll be one of the first to buy Civ4 as soon as it is released, no matter how buggy it might be (and I have a strong feeling that it will be very buggy). I think that the industry is counting with people like me in order to keep releasing buggy games.

Regardless of the bugs, I still feel in debt to Firaxis, if I just count the dollars per hour of play ratio for Civ3 its pretty damn good value. I just finished one game of civ that took 30 hours, whereas I've bought other games, for $40 and played them for less than 10 hours before never using them again.

I hate the fact that they don't fix these things, but its still the best game there is.

I (and I think WS will agree with me here) have no problems with someone saying "I was unimpressed with the way Civ 3 turned out, I will wait to buy Civ 4 until later." That is actually a great viewpoint to hold and it's very productive as well, because if enough people take it to heart then that might change the game industry as a whole and allow for better quality products to get to the market.

I respect people who will stick to their principles like this. I know that I won't. I fully expect that I'll pre-order Civ4 to make sure I have it the first possible day.

If more people did then the publishers might take notice and change things. They might start to value quality over getting a title out the door so that it is on the shelves Thanksgiving weekend (the biggest shopping time in the USA).

Well, as I said, I tend to wait for any game. because I'm a cheapskate, although I did buy Civ 2 as soon as it was released :) . People should not assume, though that not buying Civ 4 will result in a less buggy Civ 5, it's just as likely to result in Infogrammes deciding that there is no demand for turn based strategy games any more and dropping the genre. I don't have a lot of faith in corporate intelligence.
