GOP filibusters the Democrats giving them what they requested

Yeah, for someone who's only a Republican precisely because he's a warmongerer, I'd expect that:rolleyes:

Boy's gotta mouth like a cannon, always shootin it off.

I don't also reserve the right to recant things I believed when I was significantly younger and less informed? I'm glad you can separate this debate from needlessly-personal namecalling.

If we were debating, I'd give you that.

Instead, you are simply using one-liners to discredit the truth. I responded in kind, except that what I said was true.

Truth is facts. The greater part of anything anyone has posted in this thread is an opinion, not a fact. Opinions can be based on facts, but they are not facts in of themselves, and therefore you don't get any credit for somehow banishing the evil demon of social democracy with the Sword of Anarcho-Capitalist Truth.

Also, exchanging opinions is what we call debating.

I'm not an ancap...

It is indeed a fact that America simply cannot meet its fiscal obligations right now. It can either start cutting those obligations, raise taxes (Which would most likely not raise much more revenue) or collapse.

High taxes: the real cause of the deficit.

You are right that I shouldn't have called out a name before a post was made, even if it is fairly easy to predict. I'll edit that part of my post out.

The rest of it deserves to be said. America needs to wake up.

The rest of it was just as bad as the name calling.

Do you think the Hitler-Lincolns at the TSA will mind too much if I ask them to wear a condom while they are raping me?

Prosperity or abject failure are not the only two states in which an economy can exist.

Is everyone in America asleep? They're just all going to wake up "Ah man, I think I accidentally voted for something other than a libertarian nightmare while I was sleep walking these past few decades."

You need to wake up. I say this because everybody that does not agree with me is still deep in REM Sleep and needs to wake up or they will sleep past a final or job interview or something.

At least you didn't say America is full of sheeple I guess.

EDIT: You are killing me Jolly xD

I didn't realize the GOP was so addicted to the filibuster that they are filibustering their own calls for a vote. They really need to break this addiction - if they end up in the majority, it won't be a healthy addiction.

The point was, what is the point of having the vote if it is just going to get filibustered? It seems dumb, kind of, but in the end it saves time... and we know how busy congress is taking away our rights... don't want to impede that process.

...what? The filibuster occurs before a bill is put up for a vote, not afterwards.

The point being, it wouldn't get past the filibuster to begin with, so why talk about having a vote?

McConnell was dumb for suggesting the vote to begin with, because he knew he'd just filibuster it.

I didn't realize until recently they don't have to actually talk to filibuster anymore... they just pre-vote, if you will...
