This is my first GOTM and I'm not too good. It probably stems from being a Quake player, I have no concerntration

Anyway, I've gotten addicted to civ4 recently and instead of playing the same type of game over and over I thought I would broaden my horizons.
In the pre-game thread I saw Erkon's plan about stealing workers with warriors, so with no other plans I downloaded and started the game. I think for someone who isn't that good my starts are ok, but I still don't fully get all your fancy lingo.
I went warrior warrior worker (well I was going to steal workers

never tried that before) Of course I see this is a mistake now and I should have gone worker warrior warrior doing the same thing I did. I researched BW/wheel/animal husbandry (I suppose I should have switched the last too) and sent off the two warriors.
I waited at both the border of mao and julius and was getting quite frustrated doing nothing waiting for a worker. julius was actually pretty easy and I walked away with a worker pretty fast, mao took ages to get to the cows but I eventually got a worker from him too.
I must say that in the early game this detrimented them pretty bad.. too bad I didn't make use of that
I founded my second city by the marble/gold/fish, I wanted to get my third to mao's island, but he got a settler where I wanted to go first, so I went for the clams and wheat on the bride. I then got my 4th at the other side towards julius and trying to pump out solders, unfortunately the best thing I could make was archers

Before that I got stone henge, pyramids, pathanon and then started to lapse into my bad ways, which means generally doing a little of everything and following no strategy. (I had no idea how I wanted to win... um I still don't.)
I build another city on julius's isle and got construction and started pumping out cats and phats, unfortunately I put all of my phants on maos end and cats on julius's end. (not paying attention, I thought I was distributing them evenly).
This only became a problem when I got divine right and switched to islam... way to piss off my main friend louis. I think he insited julius to attack me and he followed soon. horse archers dammit. I lost a stack of cats, the latest city and barely kept them out of my island. I thought I was safe on that end so I attacked mao, got one city and then noticed I just didn't have enough to pull through and obliterate mao so I was a bit stuck. I also noticed my cities were not happy at all being at war with so many guys, so I started declaring peace.
I suppose that's what I get for not going for war from the get go. Now I pointlessly stuck, still the points leader, but I don't know what to do, I think it's too late for conquest because I will probably only get stronger units than the rest too late, I should have been going for culture from the start too so it's too late for that. My research is pretty good so I'm thinking of space race. I am going to load it up now and see
Oh I play pretty fast which is also my problem, I probably did all that in about 3 hours. No attention span
