Goz-2 The unbelievable dream.

Alternative to a floating defence force could be that we just build defensive buildings in coastal cities. We can always buy some if war is looking likely. I might make a couple of boats anway.

I certainly wasn't trying to sound critical. I just was listing some thoughts for the next set: increase production; Hydro Plant in Edinburgh first; sign a RA with Cathy; a little thinking out loud about aluminum (space ship parts cost aluminum and Rocket Artillery is pretty awesome if you have to fight a late era war... but again, we're probably fine and I think I said as much); protect coastal cities. Just thoughts - no criticism. Take it for what it's worth.

Those Galleasses only take a few turns each to make, but we can certainly put it off. I wouldn't be surprised if Liz never declared (although we may want to at some point). It's probably better to build the cheaper unit and upgrade than to have to rush buy Frigates. But, again, just a thought... Thanks for reminding me to calm down too Goz. I almost hyperventilated.:goodjob:

Ok so report is coming, I need to reformat and add pics tomorow, so only read if you are desperate. Something cropped up.

Turn 190 1300 AD
I put the Edinburgh on th trading post jungle. I also changed to Factory in Dublin. Not quite enough river tiles yet and that was a placeholder.

Quebec is 60/60 so I give them 500 gold. I will keep running all those scientists in our cities. It may pay off later. We have souped up gardens as well now I remember. So I think it can give us som e extra GS, 1 at least before the end may come from a satellite city.

Turn 191
Ottomans stole astronomy. I don’t care.
Our Knight clears the camp on the island and gives a worker back to Ragusa. Ragusa and Colombo are now both our allies. Maritime and mercantile. A nice boost.
Edinburgh Ceilidh Hall > factory

Oh no Englands GP sneaked through the lake now hes next to Nantes. I missed that. But I think we have a lot of pressure so the city will flip back soon.
I buy a tile in Nana because we need Jungle TPs there.

Turn192
Whoa we got dyes from Ragusa so now we have may WLTKDs.
Rifling is in so now we go Steam Power. Beelining to Plastics. Life in plastic is fantastic.
Douglas Monument > Granary because it has wheat

Englands GP does nothing. I guess its confused.
I upgrade a couple of muskets to rifles just to boost our army rep.

Furs to Attila for 240 is renewed

Turn 193

Oh no this happens. It may be a problem but then again it may just happen that she attacks us anyway. I tell her to leave them alone. That CS is in a good location for us and we are about to road to them.

Catherine is plotting against Hiawatha though, FFion tells us.

We also steal

Grand river Aqueduct > Public School

I upgrade 2 CBs to gatling guns. Should help keep Cathy away.

Turn 194
Cathy knows we stole from her.

Quick look at Moscow before I move out

Spoiler :

I move our spy to Genoa so we get a solid base there. They will act as a buffer.

Cardiff Public School > Rifleman I think we need more units. We can go factory after.

Turn 195
Catherine wants open borders renewed. I do it just to keep peace. I think it doesn’t make a difference if she wants to attack we will see.
We road to Genoa which makes them allies. We also get incense. More WLTKDs.
Steam Power > Replaceable Parts

Turn 196
Nantes Library > University

I converted Attilas Court with the last 2 GP uses, I’m not sure if this will last or not but we can see. Maybe that’s a bad move.

Turn 197

Russia is sending a settler down our way. I think its better for us not to get a new city. Then we can finish rationalism before the win. So I didn’t try to setlle here. We already have enough cities I think.

Turn 198
Quebec has a mission to protect so I do. We are already allies but now we have them in the bag. Attila has a large force there but I think hes going to attack Liz. We kill a Russian spy.

Russia now has rifles and gatlings and looks like they will bully Genoa again. Or they are coming for us.

Truro Public School > Garden and now a science specialist rather than engineer.

Turn 199
Replaceable parts in. Radio next.

We get a new spy so I move him to Sydney because they are maritime and that’s good for us. We have aqueducts and excess happy.

I upgrade a couple of rifles to GW inf. I feel a bit safer now. We are a tech above.

As a side note, the bananas are paying off in Truro. That city will make good science. It’s 16 pop now. I bought the aluminium in nananantes. I’ve generally bought a few tiles when the workers have nothing else to do.

Turn 200
Attila declares on England. They are a bit primitive compared to the big 2.

Not much else really. I might have left something. Just had to have an emergency mid set skype drinking session with my (kind of ) girlfriend who had been stood up by her (hopefully platonic) friends. Such is life. Skype drinking sessions are cool though, Goz we should have one during the ashes, thats if you've become civilised during your time down under, if not we can have a beer over a Kubb game :).

We finish 2 factories in our main cities next turn then we can make a couple more units there I think. I was holding off as long as possible and going science infrastructure. We are OK I think. I probably missed some obvious things. Mostly I was building in this set.

Demo

OK so Russia is leaping ahead. I sensed this but we should still be OK. We do need to focus on military a bit the next set though I think.

Empire

Spoiler :

We have so many farms and so many workers. I was tempted to start trading posting over some of them. Then again. We can always run loads of specialists a bit later.

I managed to add a decent amount of science without doeing anything so with plastics and the new public schools we will be flying I think.

[desperate] Stuck at home with a bad throat :yuck:, sick and sore so I read  [/desperate]

I agree with using gold on troops, food on specialists and production on infrastructure. Have we settled our last city yet though? And has our culture bumped up from 36? Imo those are the 2 pressing matters we need to adress before thinking about more military production. The rest seems to remain in good balance.

Re: Naval fleet; Imo the south canal is not much of a threat with regards to our future plans with Liz. Imo, when crossbows become obsolete, we can send 1-2 of the open terrain ones south and have them remain crossbows (for range) in city garrisons. Or just 1-2 cannons/arti. It's not like we have units to protect and whatnot.

(As for the criticism: I have found it completely constructive. I thoroughly enjoy and welcome it. You guys made me realize in 1 emperor game more things than I have in a while of playing Civ5 by ear. I'm now attempting Deity and so far, I don't get crushed. So thanks, and don't you go hyperventilating on my account  )

Sounds like we're making good progress. Will open save tonight. Then comment. Can play tomorrow evening.

Opend the save. Looking good basically. Saw some mm stuff I'll adress. We do need some more culture to finish Rationalism in time. Lot's of GS'sa comming up. Not in my turnset though. We'll need to save them.
Plastics in soon. Edinburgh should get Hydroplant next. Then start Eifeltower. Can also use Statue of Liberty. And more culture. Probably some cheap culture first.
Russia's military is 50% larger, so will need to adress that as wel. Will play defensive though. This are 1st in tech.
Shall I try to make more friends for RA's?

I had a quick look at the friend situation and only thought Attila could bb useful and he wouldn't be friends. You could try the others also. Pangea is a bit tricky for friends.

We're looking stronger after each turnset, except that we're losing in military and our culture is really bad. If we can fix that in the next turnset or two, I'm happy.

Cathy plotting against blablabla means absolutely nothing, it's just a gimmick to get a friend by gossiping, and that doesn't even work most of the time. If Cathy is plotting against anyone, it would be us and she has put the afterburners on her military-production. Looks like she built at least 4-5 more units than us, even if we upgraded some of ours, so be careful. Half of the units we have near Nantes should probably have better effect up in Brantford, especially as England is fighting the huns now.

We'll get another GS soon, did I see a city where it was only 7 turns? I'm sure I did as the Cap was 11 turns and if that's true, we'll get at least 2 GS's from natural growth and then we might get one from faith too later. 4 GS's to blow techs on in the later game would be awesome! :)

We'll get more then 2 GS's naturally.

You bet how much on that?

I think we'll get one in 7 turns, if I'm wrong then I'm wrong.
But if I'm right, the next GS will lose 100 turns or something and will be available next, in around 15-20 turns after the first one.

I don't have the save open and I'm slightly drunk, as it should be in +37 Celsius. We had a spell of 8 days in a row, with over 30 degrees. It's a record in itself, last time recorded was 1864 or something.

We will get 2 SG's naturally, everyone we get will take longer to get another one.

But I like your optimistic side! :)

What is 37 degrees Celsius in American Fahrenheit?

around 90 F?

Why can't we all have the same table to play on? Inches here and there down under and frigging Fahrenheit and .

A meter or centimeter makes more sense than any inches, a centigrade makes more sense of anything!!!

Silly world.

98.6F. About 70F more then over here. Which is to cold, and I don't even have beer :(
Next GS will cost 100 points more the next another 100. Not sure where we're at but I'd expect at least 3. We'll see.

Forgot to sell citris last turn as 2 deals expired. Won't sell in turnover, so next player decide.

Got some more culture. Can adopt one now as well. Probably won't get enough to finish Rationalism though. Partly my mistake. Think we should focus on military now, as I was only able te keep us 50K point behind Russia.

The Prophet

Roster
Gozpel - Up
Grandad - On Deck

The force of Micro-managing is fortunately with you!

But I can't until Friday my time, life is just happening.

If anyone wants to take the save before me, be welcome to do so.

The save, we're safe and get next thingie in Rationalism, build up culture and military.

I'm soo drunk, but I'm right.

Looks good. Do we have an "absolutely no reload" rule or is that generally the rule with SG games? I've never done it, but I ask because if I accidentally annexed a city (I've done it before in my own games btw) I would reload. I haven't seen the save and I'm sure it didn't harm our game at all. I was just curious about the etiquette with reloads, so I don't accidentally violate it someday.

Anyway, I'll be busy myself on the weekend so drink up Goz... and play whenever you get the time.

If I autosaved every turn I would not feel bad about reloading that, but we can use Brantford anyway. It has some jungles we could work and the AI would take forever to get a Uni there. We may buy one I suggest.

I don't have much time to give input and I decided on a whim to go to Oslo this weekend because it was cheap on Ryanair. Now the new ice age began so it will be fun. I bet you miss those winters Goz.

I don't miss any winters at all! :)

No reloads, crap happens and we play on and deal with it and I think we can cover the happiness anyways. Now I'm glad we didn't found any more cities.

So I drink up again and hopefully play my turns tomorrow.

I also never reload. Mistakes happen, and are part of the game. Also I sometimes do stuoid thing like leaving a unit out in the open or a ship finishes near a city. Goodby unit. Í just don't understand how people can think ships are overpowerd.

Preturn: Change a few citizens around to continue growth, we' need some happy-buildings soon.

Pick a policy ->

I could've picked Humanism or even Order, but our only RA is maturing soon, so why not.

Sell citrus to Attila and Egypt get the same deal.

Turn 1: Cathy decided to bully Genoa again, I clicked the nice response and we lost them as allies. But IT the elections where rigged and we are allies again. Didn't mean that and would've bought them back, just a little bit lucky there.

Dynamite is researched, Flight next in 3 turns.

Cities are producing stuff quickly and I won't bother reporting every building.

Renewed marble to Lizzy for 190g.

Turn 2: Give 500g to Colombo or we lose them as friends next turn.

Turn 3: Nothing.

Turn 4: Cathy buys our silver again for 240g.

We learn Flight:

Make a beeline towards Rocketry, 5 techs to reach that.

Edinburgh completes a research lab and I start Taj Mahal just for fun, it IS a happy-building after all.

Turn 5: Hiawatha completes the Sistine Chapel.

Turn 6: The RA matures and we learn

and

We kill an Ottoman spy.
All our cities demands copper, none is for sale.
Sell gold to Lizzy for 190g.

Turn 7: Russia wants another RA, if we pay them 100g extra, I say no.

We forgive Sully for his spy.

Turn 8: Attila wants us to declare war on Suleiman, no thanks.
Ramesses says Cathy is plotting against us.
Someone stole Electronics.

Another scientist is born.

Turn 9: Egypt completes Angkor Wat.

Vatican City is in awe with us, we won the faith-race.

We learn:

Brussels got the quest to give them money, so I give a 1000g and our cpt jumps from 64 to 90.

Turn 10: Cathy denounces us.

Taj Mahal

Next policy is now in 11 turns, can we fill Rationalism? I think we need the 2 other culture CS if we're going for that.

We can faithbuy a scientist in 2 turns, but I think we should wait for the one in Truro which is due in 11 turns.

Hiawatha's annoying prophet is still trying to get to Edinburgh, I had to block him all the time.

There is still lots of work to do, we need to start railing and we're still short of workers.

Wow, can't believe we got the Taj Mahal. Had thought about it in my set, but thought we wouldn't get it. Odd how sometimes wonders go extremely late.
Do faith bought GS's also increase the cost of natural GS's?

We're still close to Russia in military. So no problems there. Should keep monitoring it, just to make sure. Otherwise just cruise to victory.

Just 1 point, I would have given Russia 100 gold extra for the RA. I would have paid a lot more. We'll get 100% extra science form those (wonder+policy).
