GR15 - AWE on Ultra Huge Map

That makes sense, as I have found it is very strenous to play AW on your own on maps over std size. Mainky as you have so many things to do and little respite.

Greebley I forgot to ask you in the knight army, did you expect it was a likely winner? I was wonder as you menioned it was at full health. I am not sure of the odds, but I would not be shocked to have the army go down.

I frequently see cavs die attacking 1 hp infantry.

We lost 2 full health Knight armies and 1 full health cavalry army against the infantry. I was not really suprised and if the number of armies had been short, I wouldn't have done it. Given that those armies were mostly obsolete and that we didn't need armies for defense (having the Mech Inf) it didn't matter that we had a few losses IMO.

I didn't mind the culture [Edit: win] but it would have been better to realize it would happen before killing off the Iroquois. I knew the culture was a risk from checkig before hand when I first starte to play. If we had been playing for conquest, I am hoping I would have been more careful about it and kept the Iroquois alive. Glad we didn't have to though because size 20+ cities have a tendency to flip and you have to go back retake them several times (until I rushed enough settlers to replace them - I did have a few already over on that continent in case I needed to get closer to a city.

I've been lurking since you started this. You guys play an exciting game that's loads of fun to watch. Congratulations!!! :goodjob:

No it did not matter, I was only unclear if you did it just to see if you could get lucky or if you had expect it was near lock. All units were expendable at that stage.

I am only speaking for myself, but I thought this was an easier win than the previous one. We actually had some turns were we were in danger of taking serious losses in that one.

Here we were never in any real danger, only some hard turns. We had a few turns were the Ai could have sweept in and grab a bunch of open towns near the core, in that game.

Here they were only putting pressure on borders. They were really inept on defense in the other contient. They also used frigates to more effect in the other game.

Hitting the city limit and not letting them get any more towns, just broke the game. If the limit for such a map was 1024, it would have been much harder.

We also got a break that no civ took over and got very large off the others. Even at the end, I think the biggest had about 21 or so towns.

Agreed. We were able to build science cities while the AI had to work with what cities it had through 9/10 of the game

Nice game. :goodjob:

I have to admit in between I was a little bored because of the huge distances getting units to the battlefields. Still it was an entertaining game of course. ;)

I think we would have had a much harder time if we would have been placed in a starting location in the middle of the map. Our S and SE was AI-free, so this made it much easier.

Well, gentlemen, I said I'd be really impressed if you could finish this one off before I could play another round, and I am. A superb effort. :hatsoff:

I'm back, and I'd be glad to start the next one any time.
