clear 12 units from our frontlines. lose a cav versus a redlined rifle

defeat 4 infantry and capture Avignon for 11 gold
this gives access the Cherburg, which is razed for 7 gold
found History Never Repeats, found Aukland without actually abandoning Avignon (that's that extra city vmxa talked about)

decide to attack Toulouse with 4 armies and take it
abandon Avignon, found Wellington
abandon Toulouse and found Napier

IT maybe the AI is overwhelmed by the size of the map...their units run around our frontlines
one cav actually attacks Napier but retreats

beat 2 inf and 1 cav and raze Hareid for 1001g, that's really lucrative business
attack Fustat and defeat 2 rifles for now
found Brisbane to be able to get into French territory
enables us to take Marseilles killing 3 infantry, do the same with Amiens
from there we can bomb New Paris, redline 4 infantry and raze city

South of this part we can spot Romans borders, but I prefer to take out France and Sun Tzu first
take out 4 units and raze Chartres, France has now 10 cities left

defeat 2 rifles and take Muscat, march on to Baghdad

found Sydney and Adelaide

defeat 12 units at our front and finally get a MGL

decide to attack Ravenna, after 3 musket, town falls

IT this time we get a lot of landings
French have some big stacks of infantry nearing our borders
2 Viking cavs attack and retreat against infantry

clear all landings
defeat 3 inf and take Lyons
defeat 6 infantry and Paris is ours, this drops our expenditure by 43gpt :)

abandon Lyons and replace with a combat settler
enables us to bombard Bordeaux, take out 4 inf and take city

then lose an entirely healthy army at Tours, avenge that by taking the city
manage to raze Brest as well after 3 infantry are killed
France is down to 5 cities

2 rifles slain and Fustat razed, found Death to France
Baghdad follows with 3 rifles and 1 LB gone, abandon Muskat as well
found 3 new cities

get Pretzel Logic back
take back New Tulum for 993 gold

abandon Bordeaux and found a combat town to get to Rouen, redline 3 inf and take city
repeat the same stunt a little to the east and capture Dijon
take out 3 inf in Besancon and France is down to 2 cities

raze Basra after taking out 1 unit at Poitiers so we can get closer to the next French city
found city and take Poitiers as well, attack last French city...

attack Jerusalem and almost lose a Cav army, Roman only have muskets, actually
capture Tromso for 1530gold, pillage the rubber source at Bodo and Vikings got no more of that
capture Neapolis and Antium
capture Farsund for 1550gold

while clearing landings and frontline units get another army, to be filled with only 3 Cavs

as we have a severe lack of infantry defense, cash rush where I can

IT lose wounded army in Farsund and it's Viking again
I am actually glad we don't lose anything else
we get 13 infantries, that will help a lot to free our armies

6.1754AD
take back Farsund for 994 gold
shell Bodo and take it for 1560gold
defeat 5 units and Rizor including Magellan and 1500gold is ours
3 infantry later and Stavanger is ours for 1585gold, we now have 11k in the kitty

continue in Roman land, capture Brundisium after defeat 2 muskets and a drafted rifle, that's bad news
take Rome that was still defended by muskets only

capture Mansura, abandon Medina and found Palmerston North

sink a redlined Greek frigate
reduce science to 50%

IT enemies bombard and 3 AI's run around, no attacks due to the nice infantry coverage
we get electronics, nationalism in 4 at 40% science
Tromso deposes us, had 1 infantry inside

7.1756AD
get Tromso back for a whopping 2499gold, Vikings now have almost 50k
more to the west, take Aarhus after 1 cav army takes out 3 inf and 1 rifle, we get 2543g for the effort
Karasjok is next for 2590gold
Fauske gives us more trouble and after 2 armies are redlined, a third takes the city along with 2600gold
Reykjavik is taken for 2700gold, run out of healthy armies here
Vikings have 10 cities left now

in Roman lands, take Syracuse after defeating 3 rifles, take Hispalis using a knight army
in Arabia, take Mecca
get another MGL defeating stray units, later get yet another one, this should be a inf army

it seems we found the Russian Island since they have a mere lux, we can assume not many nations are there
will go and send the latest army over next turn
our coastal defenses are slowly getting better as we defeat 2 frigates

rush 2 factories and some other stuff, Hoover still takes 8 turns
rush a galleon for the Russian Island

abandon Hispalis, the army is too low on health, hope it won't get attacked

take Stavanger back, it had 3 rifles insides, quite ridiculous (lose 2 cavs to get city back)

raze Vadso for 1700gold, that town is far off and would only slow their demise in case it flips again
take Alesund for 2770gold
abandon Reykjavik in order to reach other cities, found Iceland
take Copenhagen for 2800gold (we now have 30k)

need to be a little creative, abandon Bergen to found cities for easy access of the 2 remaining cities
Trondheim is defended by 6 infantry

abandon temp town and build a town to restrict access for the AI to our territory

we now have 3 armies in Russia, 2 cav and 1 inf army but all filled with only 3 units

we do have almost 500 scientist now, 4 turn research shouldn't be possible (we have some taxmen as nationalism is due in one at 0% anyway)
(but we need to MM for that and be careful with towns that grow or get culture expansion)
I'd say after espionage, we steal corporation/sanitation and other from the AI and then self research tanks/flight

Hoover will be done in 5, we hopefully get a MGL to rush the IA
Copan should produce armies, there is an army next to our capital filled with 2 cavs

we have 228 cities and there are only 16 more on our continent
I left you some cash markh, spend it wisely we some for stealing an deficit research

It was nice of the Vikings to hold all that gold for us, we have lots of good uses for it.

I would not count on Russia being alone. We should get more armies there and units to fill them out. They can stay there until we get transports
 
you're right, I checked and it seems Egypt and Babylon also have the same lux, thus this must be a bigger landmass...we should fill the armies and soon send over all those arties we have extra once Rome and Arabia are no more
 
I think I would like to keep most of the cash until we know what techs the AI have. It would be nice to buy ourselves into catching up via tech steals.
Precisely, and that was why I was still pretty prudent in spending cash. I only used it during my turns to partially rush some infantry via cavalry.

Intelligence about enemy troops, the map and techs steals will make the game much easier. During my turns I had a problem not knowing where the enemy cities are and that slowed down the progress somewhat as attacks were not always optimal
 
We probably could use some to short rush some shipping. To get enough units on their land and some protection. depends on how much it would take.

We should be able to spare a few grand though.

Oh, I forgot, many coastal cities are now busy building frigates as our shore bombard counters are pretty effective, ironclads pose a problem though.

I did rush a frigate and 2 galleons near Russia to ship over our armies. I was glad to find that piece of land for the next players...I know how boring it is to not fight in AW
 
The first turn took me two evenings, but it is great fun again. We took the new Roman capital and two more Arab cities. Next turn their capital will fall,too and our Eastern armies will reunify with our Western troops. There seems to be mountain range in the Southern Roman lands, so pushing forward there could be a little slower.

We seem to be a little low on single troops or I could not find them. We have 450+ units, but we could support more than 700.

Also I have not found any settlers. I will rush a few as we will start razing Russian cities soon.

BTW do we go straight for communism after espionage ? I cannot remember whether we made a decision on this.

:confused: I parked quite a few next to our capital as it has been the habit throughout those games.
We definitely do not need to rush any.

As for troops in general, yes, we are short of them and we use a lot of them as MP as we have only 3 luxes.

We won't be communists I thought. Now we have a specialist economy with almost 500 scientists and growing. We should simply rush the IA (with a leader preferably) and then go for flight straight after stealing the techs the AI knows (confirmed corporation/sanitation and likely steel or refining)

Remember to keep the cash for those steals
 
Maybe I just missed the settlers. I just noticed an army waiting for another member at the capital. I will look again. Have not yet pressed enter.

I will keep the cash. Don't worry. I do not think it is necessary to rush troops. We will be able to handle the rest of our continent with the troops we have.
 
I think we are too big for communism. Up to a certain size communism is good but it becomes worse than Monarch at very large numbers of cities since all towns are weak. We also are not set up for communism, we would have had to start courthouses everywhere before this.

The easiest way to find things like settlers it to check F3. That will show you how many settlers we have. You can also see where the settlers are if you hold your mouse over them (the settlers on the F3 screen) - it displays their location on the map, and I think you can go directly to them too by double clicking or something like that.
 
I had brought up the question because of the relatively weak core. Building courthouses isn't a big deal with CEs, but we can get by with Monarchy, especially with all our new cash supply.
 
The said army was only filled with 2 Cavs so far, I am sure markh knows to fill them only with 3 units.

I think with our infantry army, we should try and establish a beach head fairly soon in Russian lands. This way razing their towns would be much easier once they emptied their land to throw everything at us.

our galleons at Russia are not safe anymore, a Russian frigate sinks one of our galleons and more Russian frigates arrive there, we need more protection there to avoid losing units

4) 1770AD : disband cats and trebs to speed up frigate builds
