GR18-AWM Genocide Variant vs 30 Civs.

NP, I agree with thew suggestions. I actually thought of Sumeriwon, but when I checked the shields for the cav were more than needed for a library. Didn't want to waste shields, we should switch to a library now though.

OTOH, they can draft, and rush, during the IBT. There's nothing I hate more than when a city that just flipped back to the AI has been poprushed and drafted twice and when I attack it find that it has 4 riflemen/infantry/MI- one Vet, one Reg, and 2 conscript. It just sucks.
true but that wouldnt be civ now would it... it would be too easy :P

I've been very busy and haven't had time to play much. The coming days won't be much better. I may be able to get some play in here and there, but I definitely can't play more than a few turns before Sunday. I do have more time starting Monday.

If someone else wants to step in, please do. I've played about half a turn only, so not much lost.

Sorry for the delay.

Preturn: Minor changes - a few more settlers for example.

IBT: We get lucky and win Cav vs Cav. Sword Army in town kills a Knight.

1812AD: Build 4 new cities. Sink 3 Boats with our UU. Kill landings of 5 units. Kill other units near our borders losing a Cav to a Cav.
The Mayan city of Tikal (capitol) is Razed.
The Zulu city of Hloblane is Razed.
Attack Carthage city of Leptis Minor.

1814 AD: Quiet round. Kill normal units and heal mostly

1816 AD: Raze Camulodunum (Celtic) with Armies and UU.

IBT: Declare War on Persia - 3 Civs left to meet.

1818 AD: Advancing on next Celtic city. Kill a minor landing and sink 3 ships.
Leptis Minor Razed (Carthage)
Agedincum Captured-Immediate abandon due to misclick. This is 2nd size 12 Celtic city so we are hurting them now. They are still nastiest with their Cav.
Attack Sumerian Capitol of Ur.
Some Mongol Cities attacked (will need to heal).
Byzantines landed 2 Cav and Rifle + Settler in the West. We kill Rifle and one Cav. Had to add another Cav to Army. This is the second time I needed to do this. I am trying to avoid but it can be the safest method to handle low HP armies when other armies can't cover easily.
I am taking units out of cities to stop bombardment.

1820 AD:
Ur Razed along with Sun Tzu. Sumeria may start building lots of regular units now.
Auto-destroyed a newly settled Babylon town.
Sank 5 ships this round. We get Physics.

1822 AD:
Tugela is Razed (Zulu)
Continue to advance on next Celtic city behind some mountains.
Sumerian task forces are healing

1824 AD:
Mpondo Razed.
Ulundi Razed.
Zimbabwe attacked but we do poorly - our Armies need to Heal. Bring up another Army. Looks like we are close to the Northmost point of their lands. I am guessing 2-5 more cities up there? Hard to say for sure.
Destroy Byzantine town settled on our Continent killing 2 Rifles. Only 5 gold.

1826 AD:
Destroy Verulamium (Celtic) and a new celtic town.
Finally get a leader which will head back to become an Army.
Bombardment is getting annoying. Remove all units in coastal cities except near Busy Bizzie to see if I can get the boat there and sink them.
Zimbabwe falls.
Cirta (Carthage) is Razed

1828 AD:
Entremont is Razed.
Lose a nearly healthy Cav Army (3 unit) to a Musket in Lugdunum. Build Army with a Leader and put in 3 Cav. Replaces one just lost.
Kill a Portuguese landing with Settler North in Zulu Territory.
Island starting to look like it will be ours soon as we find Northern sea near the Celts.

IBT: We get Magnetism and start ToG in 5 turns.
Second round with no bombardment at all. I am hoping they are either going home or toward Busy Bizzies.

1830 AD: Build first city North of the Mountains toward Sumeria
Theveste(Carthage) is Razed.
Intombe (new Zulu Capitol) is Razed.
Spot a Russian town. They have a Rifle. I haven't seen many Russian troops though (just one), so I would think they were weaker, but seem ahead in science. Most civs on our continent do not have rifles.
Lugdunum is Razed (Celts)
Kisurra is Razed and Umma is attacked (Sumerian)

Accidentally hit space once too often and we got some landings in unusual places. I play the next turn so the next player can see the enemy movement before play.

1832 AD:
Hadrumetum is Razed.
Khaborovsk is attacked but we take 9 hp and Cav Army retreats. We killed the Rifle leaving a Musket on top of the Russian town.
Clean up landings.

Notes:
The army was in Busy Bizzies briefly which means landings near New Tver. I killed one such landing and moved an army over to handle it.

Somehow Sumerwon never got its Library.

We will finish ToG in 4 - 1 in 3 chance of Rails at that point for our freebie.

Here are the remaining bits of our continent to clear. I think we are finally approaching the end and Mumpulus may finish off clearing our continent.

The Save

Good work. :goodjob:

It sounds as though we can start the work of assembling naval stacks large enough to survive as they look for overseas civs. We shouldn't leave this until the last enemy city on our continent falls.

Good progress.:goodjob:

I agree to assemble some ship stacks and look for the new world.

I will be away from 25th to 31st October, so maybe I need to be skipped or swapped this round.

IIRC there seems to be some land to the west not far north of our core. That would be a good starting point to drop some armies.
Let's hope that we get steam as a freebie.

Also, as we approach the IA, what is the plan? Are we gambling on ToE? Are we trying to head for it directly? Has the wonder fallen already? Or has someone started US? If nobody has gone for it, I would research, steam -> electricity -> medicine -> scientific methods

Awesome! Rails will make things so much more flexible.

Agree with building boats. Remember that we must:

1) Win by conquest
2) Cannot steal maps.

We will have to find every island ourselves.

I don't know that the AI was building wonders. I still think we might want to get RP before TOE if the AI hasn't started any wonders by the time we get Electricity. A prebuild will beat them.

We draw steam
Great news...I assume we head for electricity straight away. Do we need more workers now for railing? I do hope that we can get so many more cities and scientists now with the continent almost cleared.

0) 1832AD
Change some builds to infrastructure, change coastal core cities towards navy, hire more scientists.

IBT
No combat, no landing, 1 shore bombardment only.

1) 1834AD
Raze Kish. Found Kishgone.
Raze Leptis Magna.
Raze Isandhlwana.

gr18_zulu_gone.jpg

IT
3 settler groups land up north, and a total of 21 attackers by Busy Byzzies. Heavy bombardment of Pusan, where I'm basing our fleet, but no problem for our defenders to handle that.

2) 1836AD
Raze Sumer.
Raze Umma (Sumerian capital).

Found Sumergone. Found Ummagone. Kill 10 units at Busy Buzzies, and move in cavalry army to defend against the others (mostly wounded).

IT
3 LBs die at Busy Byzzies, the others retreat. 7 more units land.

Our free tech is steam power :), get started on electricity in 12 turns at a deficit of 87gpt right now.

3) 1838AD
Raze Calakmul. Found Calakmulgone.

gr18_maya_gone.jpg

Raze Carthage.
Raze Utica.

There are 4 units remaining near Busy Byzzies, so there is a very small chance of lost towns (but all units redlined, so I don't expect an attack).

IT
Our forward troops get attacked in a few places but repel everything. 3 units land at New Tver. No attacks near Busy Byzzies.

4) 1840AD
Found Radio GooGoo.
Raze Kua.
Raze Richborough.
Found Kuagone.
Raze Oea.

I switch more towns to workers and settlers.

IT
16 units from 5 different nations land near Busy Buzzies.

5) 1842AD
Raze Sabratha. Found Sabrathagone.
Raze Hippo. Found Hippogone.
Raze Khabarovsk (the Russian have rifles). The next city is Carthaginean again, and we can now see the end of the continent. The remaining Russians must be somewhere else.
Raze Isin.

We loose a few units while trying to clear out the landing parties. We should be fine again for the IT, and help is on the way...

The Americans land a cav and aCav, that I can't kill.

IT
Those Americans raze Sabrathagone.
We loose some units scattered on the front lines.
6 more units land at the usual spot.

6) 1844AD
Found Sabrathaback, after killing the Americans in that region.
Raze Rusicade.
Raze Rusaddir.
Raze Alaca Huyuk. That's one end of the continent clear.
Raze Cataractonium.
Raze Agade.
Found I am Railing.

The Busy Byzzies area is finally clear again.

IT
A single cav lands at New Tver.

7) 1846AD
Raze Zabalam (Sumerian capital).

gr18_sumerians_gone.jpg

Raze Lapurdum. Found Lapurdumgone.
Raze Cadiz.

I've taken the liberty to queue some workers where applicable. Won Life To Live should get a granary and some rails to become a 2-turn worker factory too.

Priority for worker actions should be IMO:
- rail from core toward Busy Bizzies and New Tver
- rail toward and fix up at least 3 or 4 towns as worker factories
- rail from core to north-east for faster settling
- rail toward south-west to speed up settler supply from there
- rail navy-producers
- rail and irrigate science camps
- rail core

Medievawon should take the cavalry nearby as extra MP next turn, and there are also units available to be shifted (although Pusan should maintain a large garrison to handle bombardment).

Pusan is the center of our navy building effort. Our native privateers have sunk three enemy ships so far, but have enslaved none. If we're patient enough to sit through bombardment on this single town (which the current garrison can handle easily), we'll be able to build up a better protection soon. The 3-unit cav armies have just started their way back and will probably arrive right on time to board the first ships.

lurker's comment: 8 (Vikings, Ottomans, Dutch, Spanish, Hittites, Maya, Zulu, Sumerians) down, 22 to go. :goodjob:

great progress :goodjob:

With RR networks up soon, we should be able to control our own continent and repel any landing with our hwacha's. Btw, I guess we are still able to build them and should do so in numbers as they are really useful to increase the kill count.

Now the variant will start to hurt, no slaves and lots of rails and plenty jungle/swap.

More fine progress.

I've got it, but I'm busy--there seems to be a lot of that going around --and I don't expect to get much done in the next two or three days. So if anyone would like to fit in a round before the weekend, just speak up in the next day or so.
