move a settler into position in the jungle for claiming the gems. We need to clear land there to get them

armies have been mainly healing and would be able to go out and attack again.

we currently have 15 settlers and there is plenty of empty land. We should be able to claim those 2 luxuries in the next set of turns

Good work on getting the Gems connected. Looks like we will get the last Lux soon too.

Also looks like there is a narrowing of the continent and then it will expand out again. Getting a front line and then backfilling the rest may make sense.

It is going to take a lot of work to clear that jungle...

IBT- A treb takes a pot shot at our army.

1210AD (1) Kill vet Bab pike at Nineveh. 7th Kniht Army kills 2 vet pikes and a LB and Uruk is razed. 1st Knight Army kills zerk, 2 German archers. 3rd AC Army kills Bab pike and captures treb.

IBT- Quiet. Start some cities on wealth.

1220AD (2) Build some cities and fort armies for needed rest.

1230AD (3) Knight Army kills Zerk. 2nd Knight Army kills pike in Nineveh. Knight Army kills Vike knight.

IBT- Germans land an archer at Pea Ridge. Metallurgy in, MT in 7.

1240AD (4) Kill 4 pikes in Nineveh, raze city along with MoM. Kill 2 Bab pikes and raze Larsa. Kill 3 pikes at Eulbar, LB shows. 3rd AC Army kills a pair of Bab knights at Eulbar. 5th Knight Army heads south and finds Babylon. Kill German archer at Pea Ridge. Kill 2 Bab pikes at Mari.

IBT- Quiet

1250AD (5) Kill 2 pikes and a LB and Mari is burned. AC Army kills Bab LB. 3rd AC Army kills pike and LB. 1st Knight Army kills another LB and Eulbar burns.

IBT- Babs finally kill a unit. LB kills MI. Leo’s comes in..:) Sumer starts prebuild for Mil Academy. Iroquois build Copernicus in Niagara Falls.

1255AD (6) Kill 4 Bab pikes and Babylon burns. Kill 3 pikes and Samarra burns. Lose a knight killing Bab spear on a hill. Kill it with a second knight and then knock off a LB there too. Kill a few assorted riff-raff.

IBT- First time I’ve ever seen it, a healing AC Army dies in the jungle after one turn. :cry: Babs kill a couple units with LBs.

1260AD (7) Kill 3 Bab pikes and Carchemish is razed.

IBT- Quiet

1265AD (8) Kill 2 pikes and an LB and Zariqum is gone. Do the same thing at Eridu. And now for the triple play at Ashur. Kill 4 pikes and Reykjavik is destroyed.

IBT- Finally some activity. Zerk lands at Pea Ridge, a 2hp knight army retreats from a LB attack. And here come the Dutch with 8 knights and some slow movers.

1270AD (9) Kill the zerk at Pea Ridge. 2 Bab defenders go down and Izibia is razed.

IBT- Dutch showing more numbers, but still on the frontier area.

1275AD (10) Kill Vike pike at Molde. Appears to be more Bab towns behind it. Move 3rd Knight Army by Bab town Adab, seems to be Dutch border behind it. Kill a zerk with AC Army. Rush a rax in Fort Benning where several knights are placed for upgrade. MT in 1 and done.

Post turn: Fort Benning and Fort Sam Houston are our forward positions. Germans threw the town of Salzburg west of Dry Tortugas and a vike settler pair is near there as well. We have healing armies where the Dutch knights are trying to get through, so there will be ample troops next turn to deal with that. Have some towns building wealth, but we have plenty of settlers in queue and on the map, more really are not needed at the moment. As Greebley said, until we get rail, it’s a long trip to the front lines. Agree we should fill in where the border is shortest. Beyond, it spreads out pretty wide again. No new adversaries this go. Germany is pathetic, Vikes and Babs an irritant, Dutch only now appearing and the Mongols and English no-shows. Life is good.

RnG hates m as we lose 4 cavalry trying to take out knights, there are too many of them

take out Babylon's Hanover for 667 gold and they are gone as well

IT we get the message that Russia has been destroyed

found 3 cities in the jungle, soon all is settled there

there are big English and Dutch stacks, work on English knights, taking out 5 of them
attack Dutch stack and eliminate 7 units

raze English Karakorum + Dalandzagdad, in the south we definitely face the coast

IT Egypt has been destroyed as well

10. 1325AD
take out another 8 English knights
found 3 more cities

raze Leipzig, Almarikh, start to attack Trondheim, take out Zwolle

we will get astronomy next turn and the Mil Academy in 2
there are a few settlers at the front, but I would use army cover with that many enemies around
Germany and Vikings should fall soon.

One of the ugly aspect of these massive maps is the large mountain ranges you seem to get. I almost prefer large jungels.

I think one of the best solutions to large mountain ranges is to use workers for a few outposts. At range 3 on a mountain, you can cover a lot of ground with a few outposts as one covers a 7 by 7 square.
Can you explain that more fully? Are outposts Radar Towers?

I rarely use a worker to colonize anything and tend to keep them in the field all game long. So I'll amass a bunch of workers and slaves that spend a lot of turns fortified around the capital.

You take a worker and move it to a spot and have it create a outpost. That is just what it sounds like. You have a tower that have a view up 7x7 tiles.

You so place them out so you have coverage to see if anything come along and can react to it. It depends on the mapa nd the game, in some cases you may be able to found towns on the far side and cut off any access through the mountains.
