GR20 - Genocide AWE vs 30 Civs (try 2)

I really regret this, since asking for a skip only after wasting several days is wretched SG etiquette. :( But I'm having a week from Hell in RL, and I have no idea when I'll again have the time and the repose of mind to play Civ properly. So I'll have to ask to be skipped until further notice. My apologies to all of you, gentlemen.

Preturn: Switch all corrupt towns with less than 12 shields to Workers (excluding towns building ships - I leave them). If we can get rails up faster we can boost production sooner and have communication between core and the front sooner as well. It will also boost science towns to support more scientists.

Some MM brings Steam down to 3.

Move a few more Armies toward the front. I can move the remaining armies as needed to guard the coast.

1430 AD: Armies healing or moving for the most part. Kill one Musket in Newcastle. Lose 2 Cav taking out 1 Knight. Decided to try for Newtons. Noone is working on it yet.

IBT: The Chinese have been destroyed. It has been a war-filled game. Lose a Frigate to a Caravel. We have been really unlucky at sea so far.

1435 AD: Army drops to 1 hp (couldn't hurt the stupid Pike after killing 2 Muskets fairly easily) but we Raze Newcastle(English). Other Army Covers 1HP one.
Lauwersoog (Dutch) Razed.

IBT: We get Steam and start Industrialization. We have plenty of Coal, but no worthwhile ironwork sight

1440 AD: Raze Berwick (English). Raze Rotterdam (Dutch Capitol)

IBT: Lose 2 more Caravel vs Frigate battles, win 1.

1445 AD: Long line of Rails is starting to form. Auto-destroy Tilburg(New Dutch town).

1450 AD: Armies healing. I am also killing the Knights from Dutch and English as the show up.

1455 AD: More mountains to deal with. I finally reach the new Dutch capitol of Gronigen and attack it.

1460 AD: Lose Frigate vs Galley doing no damage.
Attack Hastings and Londong (English)
Raze Gronigen

IBT: Meet Arabia and Declare War.
English landing near Fort Benning

1465 AD: Rail to Capitol and Improve surrounding lands.
Attack Warwick. Raze Hastings and London (English).
Move toward Breda (Dutch)

IBT: Japan is Destroyed.
Greek landing near Fort Wayne. Drop off a settler

1470 AD: Warwik Razed (English)
Breda and Enscheda Razed (Dutch)

IBT: War declared with India.

1475 AD: York is Razed (English)

Notes:
MM'ed for scientists and got science down to 40% with Indust next turn (7 beaker overrun).
Many towns are building Banks. These are prebuilds for Factories and can be switched next turn (none will finish so no need to look ahead).
AI seems way behind in tech. Noone is building Newtons and the cities are middle ages. I haven't seen a Cavalry or Cannon yet, though I haven't seen an Iroquois landing recently.
Iroquois are very big and have the potential to crank out culture. We are currently 1/2 of theirs; I think it a good idea to keep us there so they cannot win by culture.
Note that the Iroquois have 11% of the world (compared to our 25%). 11% is huge on this map.
We have a lot of workers now - 286 - but a ton of lands to improve. Not all cities are connected by rail yet.
Started a lot of towns on Aquaducts now we have enough Workers. With rails the number of scientists can be increased by growing past size 6. It also increases unit support.
I think we could go for Economics next. No civ is listed as building a wonder on F7. I bet we can beat the AI there even if they start it soon. We have rails and they do not.

I am trying a new upload site. Hope this works:
The Save

A site that can be used for uploading the save is:

File Upload Site

I may also request to increase the maximum size of *.sav files.

I know ThERat was traveling and don't know if he is back....

ThERat, markh (or Northern Pike),
Whichever of you can play first, post an I got it and go ahead with the game.

Roster:
Greebley - Just Played
ThERat - Up if not traveling?
markh - Hopefully will be back with us on Monday
M60A3TTS -
Northern Pike - Currently busy

Yes, I am back from Koh Samui, though I rather continue to lie on a beach in Thailand :(

Got it and succeeded in downloading the file. I hope the attach file size can be increased.

I have connection at home again. Surprinsingly everything could be installed without any problems, so I can play after ThERat.

played 5 turns so far and England are down to around 4 cities, Dutch have 2 left. The next part will be to get a landing party together to go after Iro's...will continue tomorrow night

Preturn
things look good.

IT we lose a frigate and get industrialization
switch to economics as suggested

1.1480AD
found 7 more cities
raze Dover and Cambridge

swap Sumer to prebuild Smiths

IT Iro's start Smith

2. 1485AD
raze Delft and Manchester
found 6 cities

3.1490AD
as the Greeks started Smiths as well, we can reduce science to 0% and still get economics in 2
raze Nottingham, move on to the English towns all along the borders

found 4 cities
get another army defeating some landed English knights

IT we get Newtons, bad tibiria finishes a factory and goes for palace prebuild for ToE

4. 1495AD
raze Brighton, Oxford, Liverpool
rail aggressively and raze Coventry, Canterbury and Richmond, it's not enough though as some cites are left
found 7 cities
raze Greek Island city of Troy

IT lose exposed cav, we get economics, electricity next in 6
Iro's start Shakes

5. 1500AD
switch Sumer to Smiths due in 3

reach the southern shores and raze Norwich, Leicester, Birmingham, Reading, Exeter
raze Dutch Gouda
autoraze Iro's Onnototare on an Island

found 1 city

6.1505AD
raze Carlisle, Bristol, Gloucester
raze Leerdam and Dordrecht, Dutch respawn slightly north
found a city to get to England's last city, raze Ipswich and get another MGL
England respawned way east

found 2 more cities...rail east and wonder how many units the respawner gets..more than annoying :gripe:
eventually finish off the Dutch and Englishwe are now alone on our continent

7.1510AD
found 3 cities
rush a factory on the coast so we can start building some navy

IT we get Smiths

8. 1515AD
declare war on Maya
found 3 cities

9. 1520AD
nothing much, found 2 cities

10. 1525AD
land a first cav army overseas next to Kyoto
found 2 cities

electricity is due next turn, we should start a Hoover prebuild in our capital after the factory is done next turn
I would however go for RP first before scientific methods

We might want to explore more and get a shorter passage. We have a lot of 3 unit armies resting next to our capital (as well as other units). We might want to rush some navy as this will hold us back now.

Dutch respawn slightly north

England respawned way east

lurker's comment: :hmm:

Oh, and BTW, who owns Kyoto (Japan was destroyed)

We're so far ahead I'm not sure the standard play for ToE for AT and electronics is even the way to go. I'd consider going for Sci Method then corporation so we can pick up RP and refining or steel. It's a faster route to mass production and transports that way. Gets more units over faster.

I agree, we might want to grab RP and another tech for free. I doubt we will ever need to enter the modern age. It seems the AI is still badly lagging in techs.
In this case, however, we might want to build some coal plants for decent production. The limited production is hurting us most in this game.

Btw, if we decide not to follow AT-> electronics, we might want to change the prebuild for Hoover.

lurker's comment: Something I've done in the past is keep researching while the ToE is being built, so that I get 2-3 techs after Scientific Method and then take Atomic Theory and Electronics as freebies when the ToE finishes. In an extreme case, where a huge tech lead is held, ToE can be used for Fission or other modern techs. I think you could research at least Industrialization and maybe RP before even doing Scientific Method. Build factories in your core and then Hoover Dam is actually useful. Nice to have the options you do have.

Industrialization we already have. Electricity will finish next turn and I will go with rp before scientific method.
