Grab the Game, Ghandi! -open succession game-

1670+ Selling out of technologies to the egyptians, english and aztecs for huge profits, Muganda decides he'd like to conquer even more of the world, knowing his neighbours to be financially and technologically inferior. First science must go up; science is set to 90%. Coastal cities are ordered to prepare for cross-continent warfare, which means a proper navy, coastal fortresses and culture improvements. Hospitals are hurried to maximize growth all over the empire.

1705 Our immigrants will soon arrive in Argentina, we start to plan our landing. We declare war on China, and seize easy control of Beijing, Chengdu and Nanking without casualties.

1715 Canton and Shanghai captured. Chinese counterattack commences. We stand our ground against their riders.

1720 Argentina is founded, on the east coast of South America, neighbouring three roman settlements and a single aztec city. A temple is hurried immediately to secure our culture on this continent. Another settler is landed to the south of Argentina. Our riflemen and last settler will land further to the south, where there's even richer lands and more breathing space.

BTW, remember to keep a good book ready for between turns, if you want to play. The computer is really taking its time calculating its moves now... And use max compression rate, or the file will be too big.

A new bright future on a new continent...

OH MY LORD LOOK AT ALL THE CITIES HOW DO I COMPREHEND IT ALL AHHHHHHHHHH MY HEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

POP!

I havn't tried a game on huge before, but my computer should be able to cope. I hope I am able too. :crazyeyes
I probably can't finish in four hours, though. I hope it will be ok if I post the results 24 hours from now.

(playing) :tank:

I the year 1720 a big, ugly leader from the north took command of the Indian nation. He was known as Balder I. Even though India formally remained a democracy, the secret police made the leader more of a despot. This are exerpts from his autobiography (not finished due to his sudden death).

Upon gaining power and securing it (for the common peoples own good), my first action was to review all deals with other nations. Many deals seemed old and after discussing the terms with other leaders I was able to extract a lot more money from them. It seams our technology is advanced compared to most nations. I will see to that this stays so by selling no or very little of our knowledge to other nations. I also thought that our great nation needed more than one center of government and started construction of my summer palace in Rheims. Why no other leader has build this highly useful construction to reduce petty thefts and sore leader-shoulders I can't understand. I also reduced science spendings since my advisors tells me that the scientists can't work any faster with more spendings. After theese measures our earnings are +950/turn.

I then reorganized city production. I fully intend to be the strongest military power on Earth and absorb nearby nations. Most changes was to shift towards more production (factories, courthouses) and military (barracks and cavalry). I don't want a large navy. Cities on other continents will probably be totally corrupted. As we are already at war with the pathetic Chinese these will be absorbed first by my force of 27 cavalry. But our most important would-be-enemy is the Romans. Since they have a stronger army than we do (acording to the military advisor) we shall leave them in peace in my early reigning years.

1725 - It seems to me that the late leader wanted to colonize South America. Since theese cities foreever will be totally corrupted, the only reason for such colonies is to secure resources. Dye is possible from South America and I will try to grab some by making a city for this purpose. Rubber is probably more easily obtained in the Indonesia/Philepines/New Guinea-area. I will sail there with a settler/Rifleman combination. Concered the Chinese city Xinjian. Unfortunatly the Chinese took Shanghai.

1730 - Universial Suffrage built. Now everyone can vote and think that they influence on national politics. In reality their influence is extreamly small and I do as I see fit. My scientists researched Steel and started to unravel a Atomic Theory. Sounds like a waste of time, but they asure me that this eventually could lead to greater production and perhaps even military aplications (trying to get Hoover Dam). Took Shanghai and Tatung (starving it to get rid of chinese resisters). Made peace with Chinese (75 gold + 20/turn). Next target will be the Romans, but first I have to build a Railroad Network and strengthen the army.

1735 - Military railroad network finished. Going into posistion to attack Romans in Cumae (7 artillery + 11 cavalry). The Romans didn't like it and asked me to get out or declare war. I decleared war. Unfortunatly the English had a mutual protection pact with the Romans and decleared war against me. They are not near me so they can't threaten me, but I had some nice trade agrements with them.

1740 - Dye City founded in South America. Will build temple (cultural war), harbour and a worker to make raod to Dye. Cumae taken without losses. Rome taken without artillery support, one cavelry lost. We now control Sistine Chapel! Starving Rome to prevent cultural flip. Captured Neapolis without loss (only one defender). Captured Antium. No losses. One cavalry killed by Roman retaliation, but no city lost.

1745 - Battlefield Medicine and Theory of Evolution. Discovered Communism and Espionage. Lugdunum taken without loss. Veii taken without loss. To keep up the offensive I draft riflemen in my mainland and send veterans out to protect workers building military railways and the new cities. The Romans attack and took back Antium, two artillery destroyed. They also capture 3 workers.

1750 - Recapured Antium and also recaptured my 3 lost workers. Lutetia (Gems!), Hispalis and Ravenna. Captured workers, settlers and catapults/cannons (upgraded to artillery).

1752 - 2 main cities riot because of the war. Discovered Atomic Theory and started to research Electronics. Captured Pompeii, Viroconium, Tarentum and Pisae. Destroyed Corfinum (size 1). Romans and English won't talk to me, so I'll have to fight a bit more, ignoring riots.

1754 - Captured Syracuse (Ivory!) and Palmyra.

1756 - A lot (perhaps 10) cities riot because of war veriness. I have to stop the war to get the people to relax. Well, most of my objectives are already reached. Just a few more cities; Verona destroyed, captured Gordion and Nicomedia. We then made peace with the Romans. They didn't want to give us any cities that could be useful so I just took all their gold. The English still didn't want to talk to us.

1758 - All over the empire the people are glad the Roman war is over. The English won't talk , but it's a phoney war. No contact what so ever. Our next military target should be Japan. Their lands is near our soon-to-be Forbidden Palace in Rheims.

Here the autobiography ends. Eating out in a Roman resturant in one of the new Indian cities, the leader ate some poisonous mushrooms. Somebody else will have to take over after Balder I's glorious reign.

The power graph is very nice now. This should be an easy win. Domination or Space Race, I think. But perhaps a bit boring because it's kind of slow between turns. Our only problem is to acquire a source of rubber. A ship is in the Pacific on its way towards the Philipines where there is rubber for us. Another plan could be South America, but we probably would have to fight the Egyptians to get it. Not a big problem if we bring a lot of cavalry. Don't build coal plants, build Hoover Dam instead to get the production and less polution. There are a lot of Aztecs in our territory. I havn't asked them to leave since I didn't want a war with them while fighting the Romans.

We do research at 1 tech/4 turns and +600-900 gold/turn. Most of the cavalry is fortified in Donsville, ready to be called out anywhere with the use of our railroad. Some cities havn't riflemen; produce them and place them there. Some of the workers are still stupid (automated).

If you want, I can take a turn sometime. I have a lot of patience and have experience playing huge maps and controlling 50+ cities. I'm not super good but I am good at war also and I think I could manage at least 10 turns. My computer is fast and my civ III is bug free:)

You should go for it Gonzo.
This is an open succession. Anyone plays.
You just need to state you're playing, so two people don't end up playing the same save file.
Good Luck! :goodjob:
