[Graphic Mod] Varietas Delectat v9.2 [civ specific unit sets]

Good work :goodjob:.

Would you mind...i could need a second unit for my android civic...

Suit yourself! (actually I might still work on it in the future, but for a v1 (or a v800;)) it's ok)

I'm not afraid of others using it, he always says something like: 'I'll be back', so no probs! :p

any chance to include the Culturally Linked Starts mod ?

Varietas Delectat. I thought that given the theme of the mod, it would make sense. I know that it's an "unaltered gameplay" mod, but the cultural starts comes as an option turned off by default.

I checked the mod in question. It seems like a very nice modcomp, the problem with it is of course that it requires a new dll which I don't want to include into VD (as I don't want dll changes in VD). But I think you can very easily merge them together on your own as VD is really a graph modification only.
I'm considering it for QC though.

Terminator looks cool :)

About to start a new game. Instead of not using the Leaderheads, I reinstalled it without the improved graphics option, to see if that helps. If I still have problems I will try to play a game without the Leaderheads module altogeather

I did the same. It does help, but I was still unable to actually complete the game due to crashes. I made it into the Industrial Age before it really started to get bad.

So its definitely something in the Leaderheads that overloads the memory at some point. The odd thing is that the crashes are rarely occurring when the game is actually rendering the new LHs or anything. I've had it crash on the 'wonder zoom' and when I hit the Demographics and when I've hit the Military Advisor as well. Its also just plain stopped working a few times when nothing out of the ordinary seems to be happening - just processing a turn.

Anyways, the new LHs are fantastic and really add variety to the game. Hopefully memory handling can be altered so that the mod is a bit more stable.

Thanks for all your hard work! This is just a fantastic mod!

I hear merging is one of the best ways to learn how to work with C++/XML/Python... so I figured I would start with merging this to RevDCM. I downloaded NotePad++, WinMerge, and read this guide (but I don't really get it yet). So I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction and tell me where to start.
Thanks

@Uncle_Joe: Thanks!
I do intend to revisit the LH pack, check what can be optimized, probably will have to cut out some not too optimized leaders, etc., becase what you described is exactly what I experienced when testing myself;(

@ZachScape: Learn by doing is probably the best method. I suggest you read tutorials from the tutorial forum, but if I were you, I'd start from my Quot Capita mod(see my sig), which is already a merge of RevDCM and VD. I included the source code also, the code is well commented, so you can check what needs to be done. Note: as VD does not contain C++ or python changes, you would probably learn modular(WoC format) xml mostly. But the comments in the source could help you in understanding what has been changed. Good luck!

Thanks guys.
Avain, I have no idea how Quot Capita got past me, for that is my ideal mod. But when I dled, I realized you used Phungus' program, which for some reason that is driving me crazy!.. doesn't work for me. I have two screenshots of it, but they don't help anything. Installing all goes well, but when I open the game, my computer starts clicking, and then I get a CtD. Me and Phungus (oops.. Phungus and I) have no idea what it could be and I am the only one getting it. :run::badcomp: <- A combination of those two emotes.

Very weird...

They were Bronze Steam and Tears and WolfRev. It also happened when I tried to play Mars Now (3rd post in that thread I promised The J I would help him, but I couldn't because of this.I feel horrible.)

@ZachScape:
And this happens ONLY with mods with this kind of installer, and AFTER successful install?

You might try the following:
- Clear CustomAssets folder
- (re)install new graphics driver
- (re)install directX
- change desktop resolution
- change Civ4 graph settings
- change setting in Civ4.ini or revert to the default one if changed
- Hold down SHIFT while loading to clear the cache
- reinstall Civ

OK this happens because you need to put your desktop screen to 1024X768 before you play the game. It happend to me alot before also, but as soon as i change the main screen, no problem again., you can always change it back to were you had it after you play, thats what i do. Plus what he said above.
