[Graphic Mod] Varietas Delectat v9.2 [civ specific unit sets]

So, guys, I'm just curious:
- Would there be interest in trying out a beta Modern Era Expansion for Varietas Delectat and sending me feedback?

I would concentrate on fixing bugs in this mod first (like buttons for example) :)

Then it would be great for an add-on to go into depth of what civ should really be like.

I hope there is a noticeable improvement in 3.1. This will go on of course.

Sooo, you are not volunteering? ;)

PS: how's your Cultural Diversity mod proceeding? There're some really cool units in the teaser screenshot ;)

So far, no mismatched buttons encountered in 3.1. Great job!

As far as expanding the mod, I personally am not a fan of adding anything that changes the gameplay. I tend to play MP with friends and keeping people current with the changes and whatnot is just a chore we'd rather avoid.

Hopefully if you decide to pursue that path you can release it in an optional form so that those of us who want unaltered gameplay can still make use of all of the wonderful graphics changes you've compiled in this mod!

Glad to hear. There are probably some problems still, so please report if you find anything wrong.

That's exactly how it's gonna be. VD will always remain a graphic-only mod, one without any gameplay change.

in the future, any chance this mod will inclde the nique great person names? i just figured since its a cultural variety thread that name changes would be added :)

Not a bad idea. Will see.

you should add in General Matt's War Junk and Heavy War Junk as Frigate and Ship of the Line replacements for the Asian civs, up to you though.

I thought I already included them;)

Stupid question, but what exactly have you changed in CityLSystem and PlotLSystem? I'm trying to implement this in my mod but I'm already using changed versions of those files.

They are coming from the Ethnic Artstyles mod, I did not change anything.

The changes in both these files in the EthnicArtstyles mod (incorporated in avain's one) are that all citybuildings -and cottage buildings look different according to a civ's ethnic roots. O yes, there are some city facilities which use other graphics too: the palace, walls, aquaduct, granary and blacksmith. The last 3 switch graphics upon the renaissance/industrial era. Palace and walls look different according to the civ's ethic roots.

What about civ specific modern era banks ? That will not be too hard to do if done like corps HQ are but with 2 or 3 models.

Good idea, but those would be better ethnic-specific in the older era's too. Same with libraries and such. ;)
If you know of any model outthere looking like something, you can always link me to it. :)

Hey guys, kind of strange that my first post on this forum should be here in the modpacks section, but considering one of the big reasons why I bought Beyond the Sword last week was to be able to play with this mod on, it may be appropriate! It's an awesome job and makes everything so much more... "spicy" in the game.

I've played a couple of games by now, you might be interested in these two button mess ups;

I was playing as Saladdin and the heavy horses icon was a tank.
I was playing as Caesar and the rifleman icon was the musketman.
May find more later, who knows.

This icon business is only a minor trouble, but might as well point it out! Other than that, thanks again for the great mod.

Thanks, SimonL, I'll correct those!
I'm really glad you enjoy the mod.

Avain you should work with Bernie and Niknaks on that Native American mod, I think toghether you could really do something great.

Not a bad idea, however now I have my hands full with the Modern Era Expansion mod for Varietas Delectat...

Niknaks was also going to put toghether a naval expansion pack as well, adding missing link units for the naval units, like the galleass for example, or steam ships like the iron galleass or dreadnought. But its on the back burner for now. It was a good idea.
