Guantanamo inmates sent to Saudi
Fifteen Saudi prisoners, detained in the US Guantanamo Bay prison camp, have been repatriated after an agreement over their treatment was reached with Riyadh, the Pentagon said.

US officials said they agreed to the move after the Saudis gave assurances that the men would not be mistreated or allowed to become involved in "terrorism."

"We were able to assure ourselves that if these people were returned to Saudi Arabia that they wouldn't be tortured and they would be treated humanely," said Sean McCormack, a state department spokesman.

"They'll be under the control of the Saudi government."

Hmm, I wonder why the state department was so intent on getting these particular fifteen SAUDIS repatriated to their home country...after being there for years they suddenly "no longer pose a threat or have intelligence value to the US...?"

Because they were there for years and weren't worth any "intelligence value" to begin with?

Because we cant get any more info from the inmates?

The US has been releasing prisoners from Guantanamo for some time now. This isn't a radical development. AFAIK, 239 have been released.

Because we couldn't prove they were guilty of any crime yet held them for years without trial anyway to avoid losing face?

I guess they're facing other severe sentences in Saudi then? Beheaded?

No, they were sent back to meet their families and loved ones.

It's probably part of Karl Rove's master plan to kill all the adorable puppies and finish off the whales. We're on to you Karl, don't try it.
