I was on google maps for 30 minutes, looking at every bridge of significant span and cross-referencing to a wiki page of bridges in the UK.

That city is DUNDEE!

Well when I guessed England, I felt realllllllly closed. And when you said that Hull and Bradford were the closest when the only city between Hull and Bradford was Leeds... and then it turned out not to be, I reallllllyyyy wanted to get it.

Nope. None of them are correct. Though in the way Jupiter is closer to the sun than Pluto is, Mecca is the closest guess.
