Guess the Map II: witty sequel titles failed me

Countries through which the "?" parallel(latitude) passes ? :crazyeye:

countries through wich the equator passes or between the two tropics (ie sun strictly vertical at some point of the year)? guess according to the previous answer...

I think it's 49 degrees north, which is also where the majority of the US/Canada border sits. Though Poland should possibly be coloured in, too.

Southern most point of Poland is 49.04N, so no :p

Giving it to you since you got the right parallel.

as an edit: the US only makes it in because of lake of the woods. Alaska does't extend that far south and there's no other point in the US that the 49th runs through only along. A line with no defined width and all.

I thought the NE was further north than the rest of the border, but turns out that's just down to the way the maps usually get drawn.

Back soon with a map, soon as I find a template to colour in...

Map attached. I expanded and shrank the map to colour in a couple of small countries, and it screwed up the lines. So there's things like only half the Phillipines coloured in. Grey is a colour.

The borders look cool. Just to get the nitpicking out of the way - is Northern Ireland meant to be separate from Britain? I'm trying not to be critical, but others will doubtless jump in.

Presumably the same as the Philippines happened to the Japanese islands, Sakhalin, Kalingrad, etc.

If part of a country isn't coloured in, it's because using the fill function in paint didn't colour it in, and I can't be bothered fixing it.

well, it looks like a graduation...

it's not a geographical features, because really different countries in size are in the same category, like Russia and Denmark and some really big countries are not coloured, like Brazil...

I don't think it's related to population in a way other than percentage, because big countries are again not there.

Cultural aspect? without disrepect to them, i'm not sure andorra, bostawna and armenia can be fitted on this map without having Brazil somewhere... (yeah, the fact that Brazil is not colored bother me a lot)...

Hint please?

Brazil is coloured in. As I said, there are five colours on the scale I used. I'm just too lazy to recolour all of the biggest group, so I left it grey. I'm going to bed, I'll post a hint tomorrow if it's needed.

My guess is going to be along the lines of separatism. The grey has separatist groups that are a main force in politics. Yellow is that their has been a minor political influence. Orange means their have been civil wars over separatist movements. Red means that their is currently a war with separatist elements and Purple means no separatist movements at all.

in grey: Austria, Ukraine, Brazil, Chile, Venezuela
in yellow: Italia, UK
in Orange: Argentina
in Red: Switzerland
in purple: Rwanda, Burundi

What have Argentina that the rest of South America does not have? and in a similar quantity that USA?

Red and purple are all landlocked, yet not all landlocked countries are red and purple.
