Guess the Map IV: A Thousand Cries for "Hint Please!"

Cost of living / PPP number?

Or perhaps cost of travel / how expensive a place is for tourists.

How much the economy depends on exports? Red = non-dependent; low export rate. Purple = highly dependent; high export rate...?
Money made from exports per capita?

I'm totally perplexed by China.

Been a day since confirmation.

Again, this is something where the Netherlands Antilles, French Guiana and Channel Isles/Isle of Man and their respective mainlands are distinct in some capacity.

Because of the fact that there is only one color, I think it has something to do with whether a country has or does not have something. Here are my observations:
All the large countries are red. All of the populated countries are red and all of the wealthy countries + a few large or populated countries are red. Most of the middle east is grey except Israel, Jordan, and Lebanon and none of South Eastern Europe is red. Uzebekistan does not seem to fit the pattern of wealthy, large, and populated countries having this. Neither does Ghana or Cote d'Ivoire. This leads me to believe that it could have something to do with geography but I doubt it. I'd guess it has something to do with a law adopted in these countries. That would explain why none of muslim countries are red.

DR Congo is definitely not a wealthy country.

From the looks of it I have to ask if it is whether a country has a certain resource in its borders? Amount of resource?

Yeah but it kind of has a lot of people. Resources were what I was thinking when I said geography, but I don't think that is likely because not very many African or central Asian countries are red. And Western Europe is. I don't know.

Don't read into it. This map is the stock map I use for everything, since it's super accurate. If the country or territory isn't red, don't think about it.

French Guiana should be red (as should New Caledonia) since both are part of France proper. It was my mistake to leave them out (and I'm usually so good about including all the bits of France).

Anyway, as a hint, the map is tracking numbers of something. The United States accounts for nearly 90% of the total number. Many of these countries, like Uzbekistan, have only 1 of the something.

Bermuda is counted separately from the UK, though some people lump Bermuda's number into the UK's.

So if a country is grey does that mean it has less than 1% of something or just 0%?

Is it a store's locations. Like a map of countries with walmart or taco bell?

Some kind of weapon that the US makes?

Grey is 0 as in none. The map is binary in that sense. Either yes or no.

It's people related.

People that like the United States.

Might be right, but that's not the map!

As another vague hint, you are all aware of the thing that links the countries. It's not something obscure.
