Guess the Map V: A Map is Worth a Thousand Words

the map name has a Chinese symbol in it (respectively a word...).

Countries whose names sound funny/alike in Chinese?

Btw. is that a hint that it is conected to the queen? If so, names of head of state beginning with a certain letter?

Give us at least a direction (Flags, Persons, Animals, Weather or whatever, it doesn't need to be specific).

Name of country not coming from its native language?

Names of countries that are pronounced the same way in their countries as in the United States?

You see, it's not obvious at all ;)

Something of the official titles? Like countries that don't use any word like Republic or United or States, just the name?

EDIT: Ah no, the Republic of Ireland is there...

Got it! Pass on.

The official name of Ireland is Ireland, I thought it was Republic of Ireland too some week ago (and even Republic of Canada):p

Check it out from other sources and you will find out...:)

Ireland[7] (/ˈaɪrlənd/ or /ˈɑrlənd/; Irish: Éire, pronounced [ˈeːɾʲə] ( listen)), described as the Republic of Ireland (Irish: Poblacht na hÉireann),[8] is a state in Europe occupying approximately five-sixths of the island of Ireland, ...

If you click in the Constitution link in Wikipedia, you will have your answer, perhaps :)

Click here is a list of countries in Wikipedia, with full names.

But Ireland is the island that Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland are situated on, not the country itself.

But America is not the official name. Nevertheless a strange map as it is highly disputable, especially as you chose the English name, see Vatican which is actually names Status Civitatis Vaticanae. But yes, you did say you chose not to count "state" (why, btw?). In any case, that was a stab in the dark by me...

Next map, quickly taken, not verified ;) Grey is unknown/ambiguous at the same time.

EDIT: Btw. I didn't bother to colour out the rest of the island nations (only part of the map was premade by google and wiki ;)). The Pacific ocean and the Carribean Sea would else be quite a tapestry of colours...

Ah, interesting. I was thinking that:

Purple=Allowed and recognised
Green=Debated
Red=Not tolerated for citizens, but tolerated for visitors
Black=Illegal outright/penalty for gay marriage.

Well, that sucks because now I have absolutely no idea -_-

Hmm, Michigan is red.

I'd like to point out that Mexico City appears to be the only pink part of Mexico, and I think the only part of a country besides the US not entirely filled in.
