Guess the Map V: A Map is Worth a Thousand Words

Hint: Look at each continent separately. There are two countries on each (I didn't bother cutting off France's colonial possessions).

A colonisation of San Marino would be entertaining :D

Does it have something to do with economics?

America has 4 countries.

To make it easier, I made North and South America separate.

Does it have something to do with economics?

Nope.

Is it related to language?

Nope.

By the looks of it France is the key to that map. Countries that France could have colonised?

France's colonial possessions are irrelevant to the map's characteristic.

Also, I would say that US/Haiti is the map's biggest hint. What do those two countries have in common?

The oldest two countries on the continent?

In the case of Pakistan, it makes absolutely no sense at all.

The Indus Valley Civilization, roughly modern Pakistan, came in 3300 BC. That was its "date of acquisition of sovereignty".

The Indus Valley Civilization was never a sovereign state and it has practically no ties to modern Pakistan.

The Indus valley civilization was really just a collection of cities.

It's already been answered by choxorn.

Oh, right, I was skimming through the thread and didn't see that choxorn had answered it and that people were discussing Pakistan. Also, if Pakistan counts as the oldest in Asia, Peru should count as the oldest in South America due to the Inca, and Egypt should count as the oldest in Africa.

I'd have to agree that Pakistan doesn't make sense, it should be China.

The hint was pretty helpful- the first thing I thought of as to Haiti and the US having things in common was "Revolutionary Wars in the late 1700's," and then I noticed that the oldest country worked for them, for France and San Marino, and for Liberia and Ethiopia, and figured that that couldn't be a coincidence.

Anyway, I'm tired as hell right now, so I'll post up a map tomorrow.
