Guess the New Civs

I'd love to see Hungary in! They make more sense than Austria since they have a completely different language, history and culture, and there's a huge range of options for leader/UUs/UBs/UAs, not to mention they weren't in IV (or any other version IIRC) so it's about their turn. :goodjob:

Sweden is western, but I'd like it nonetheless. Though it is pretty similar to Denmark.

I always liked the idea of splitting the Norse to a more conqueror and explorer style (Danish) and to a more trader style (Swedish) Vikings

That's pretty much how I see it, Danes being Conquerors (With the Danelaw and Canute's Empire), Swedes being traders (along the Russian rivers) and Norwegians being explorers (discovering Iceland, Greenland and North America).
Although, if Swedes were included I'd rather see them with a focus on the 1500's-Today, as Danes pretty much already covers the Vikings.

But, as they are so similar to Denmark, I'd prefer another European civilization (if any), like Poland or Hungary.

I would love to see Vlad Țepeș as a leader, most likely of Romania since Wallachia is not as notable.

Ancient Mesopotamia is underrepresented considering it's significance, so I have no doubt we will eventually get Sumer

I may have been wrong about Sumer, but The Hittites still would ake a good fit for the quoted reason, plus Sumer would sell better as DLC because of it being more popular than Zululand

Don't get me wrong, I would personally love to see the Hittites over Sumer. For whatever reason, though, I don't feel as if the Hittites have any real popularity on this board :(

I agree that Brazil would be an interesting choice, but as others have said it would seem a little weird having Brazil and not Portugal.

Brazil is getting its historical chance for greatness in the present times, while in history it didn't have much impact on the world whatsoever. Although the XIXth century Empire of Brazil would be an interesting faction to play as or encounter, I doubt it will be in this expansion. Most probably it would be a fan-demanded DLC bundle with Portugal, and maybe some other native/colonial country like Kongo.

One may argue that Brazil should be included ASAP, because its in many ways similar to the USA. While they're right, Brazil didn't have a fraction of historical significance of the USA. It seems the nearest future might change it.

Yesterday I played the Wonders scenario and damn, Firaxis could add Sumer and the Hittities easily, but their UAs should be revised to reflect their need to survive on normal, random maps. I'm still guessing one of these two Civs are going to make it to the expansion.

The Hittites are one of my favorite civs.

I'm also all for the Hittites
Btw they also have a fair chance, AFAIK they have a few small references in some of the original Civ V files
Actually only 2 unreleased civs still have some references, the other being Sumer

Agreed

.

I agree. I would love to see Brazil on ciV, but I think theres plenty of ancient civs to be included before. Sumer, hitites, minoans...

But, if firaxis is thinking on adding modern civs because of potential sales, them Brazil is one the most probable.

If they don't Brazil would make an awesome mod. I'd download it. I'd make it if I knew how.

But we still need to focus in more obvious picks like Zululand and Hittites( UU three-man chariot instead of horse archer, all I'm saying:))

Hopes: Ethiopia, Hungary or Poland, Sweden(-Finland), and those Khazars I've seen mentioned seem a logical addition.

Guesses: Zulus, Plains Indians, Sumerians or Hitties, and... the Huns or something daft like that.

What about Zapotec civilization?

We already have the Aztecs and Maya, while the Zapotec were interesting it wouldn't provide enough to the game.

Kind of hard for any other Mesoamerican Civ to make it.

I hope for the Chachapoya in the south (easily can be argued second most important in S. America after the Inca) and well... several in North America other than the Sioux.

Tupi were far from a "civilization",they were a tribe, they had little to no accomplishments.
All the civs that are currently in the game and previous games had agriculture, cities and (advanced technology).
The Chachapoya had agriculture, cities and technology,Tupi not.
They did not lived in cities, were primitive, had no advanced technology, did never build a nation, confederation or empire, did not played a role in history, they were conquered by European nations and did not even offered resistence, they were even cannibals!
Not even the Aztecs were so cruel to do that!
In this perspective even Zulu is far better.
Only the civilizations west of the Andes built cities and were advanced.
Unless you count the Lost City of Z and some other cities that existed but of which the builders are unknown.
