Hall of Fame Rules/FAQ

Well, I have seen you're picture. I also go OT a lot.

Let's Get Real!..........If your avatar is a hot girl's photo, (many of) the men like to think (and hope) you're a hot girl!.......Pretty normal and natural I'd say!

Since this is the HOF Rules thread, a Rule we are missing in the HOF could say that if you're a hot chick you must have your photo as an avatar!.......And, attest that it is a photo of you!

How about I say i AM a hot girl.. if it would help in the creation of a leaderboard for Conquest Scenario games! ;)

I don't know what the current staff's position on this idea would be, but when I was on board and Conquests came out, we talked about it briefly and decided against it. One, there wasn't anyone willing to set it up. Two, there seemed too little demand for it. Three, Conquest Scenario games mean everyone's playing the same map basically. It's more like GOTM than HOF.

I just submitted a game which had 2 crashes in it (accidentally pulling the power cord out of the wall...) I had restarted both times from the auto save (they happened right after the turn changed over).

I hope those won't be a problem.

This is not an official answer, but the fact of the matter is that the game crashes on its own many times during my Huge map Histographic victories........Most of them occur after Abandoning a city and then subsequently hitting F1 or F3 keys.

I try to document my crashes with a screenshot but sometimes the game window simply closes!

Anyways, until you get an official answer from the Civ Lords, I wanted to give you good reason not to be worried! :)

Isn't it immaterial whether you started from an autosave or from a .sav of your own creation so long as you did not "reload a save to try and change game events..."? Theoretically, you could intentionally start each new game-in-progress session from an autosave file.

The problem is if you re-load a .sav more than once (whether an autosave or not). In the event of a crash, that might be necessary depending on the circumstances. Otherwise, the mere fact that you started from an autosave is not prohibited and probably doesn't even require an explanation unless you reloaded it more than once.

The points you make are valid. In particular in the rare event that the game crashes there is no alternative. However it is important to add that players should replicate their moves and not take advantage of 'new' information gained before the crash. In the event of multiple crashes it is worth sending an e-mail to us (hof.civfanatics@gmail.com) so that we are aware of the issue when reviewing the game data.

However we prefer players to use manual saves rather than autosaves for several reasons.

Firstly it avoids any possibility of accidently continuing a game having played part of a turn in a critical stage of the game and then replaying that game, which can lead to the game being rejected.

Additionally it is sometimes difficult to submit an autosave from late in the game due to the large filesize. Submitting saves from several stages in the game (it does not have to be 1000BC, 10AD and 1000AD; just a good spread) makes it easier for us to review the game. If we request additional saves from a submission that is causing us concern and the player only has autosaves from the period we want, they can still send them via e-mail if the file size is too large, but it is sometimes difficult to confirm the validity of the submission in such cases. (Note that this is not a problem when submitting autosaves created by CAII as the filesize is the same as the manual saves. When I play HOF games, I create a sepatrate folder for CAII autosaves which gives me a full set of saves just in case I have a problem.)

In short, AT's message was appreciated! :)

Yeah, me neither...AlanH has an announcement about it up.

Just a question relating to a CIV on a boat, I am currently playing a huge demi milk and was hoping to destroy the AZTECs and took their last city out, however they were not destroyed. Is it likely that under these circumstances the game will crash.

No. Sidebar: (In my experience) Most likely cause of crash is hitting F1 or F3 keys after abandoning a city.

Are you sure the Re-spawn AI Civ is switched off?

Also, if the Aztecs have a Settler anywhere on the map, they will not be eliminated. :)

In older patches of C3 the game would always crash if you destroyed a civ by killing their last settler by sinking the boat he's on. That has been patched. Largely. Ask Calis about it.

The game has not crashed yet, I really just wanted some feedback as to how likely a crash was going to be, I am using CIV3 complete. I put this question up after Calis experience.
