Hall of Fame Rules/FAQ

I just sent you an email. If you don't get it, we'll have to do something else.

No, just submit it on the HoF site, please.

I think I am not getting it. It's confusing because since I changed the email address in my settings on this site to actually conform to my current computer I am getting auto-email notifications everytime someone answers one of my posts here. So then, if you sent me a password or anything like that which would enable me to log on and submit my post, then no, I did not receive it :(

How about going on to the Hof site an logging on and making sure your email is correct.

...I marooned the Zulu on St Helens, a two tile island.
I know this is really nitpicky, but for Late-Game (viz. pre 300 Enter Keys) score optimization, shouldn't you put your own city on that island? :)

That would put me over the domination limit. He has to live somewhere and on the island he can't build any thing.

I always hate the little tribes walking on my turf while they look for another place to settle. Now I have a couple of privateers sinking his ship every time he tries to venture out.

Thank you Marsden and Denniz.

I finally got my game submitted :king:

A word to the wise .... Mozilla and hof submissions don't mix well ... at least my version, but internet explorer did.

well, my build is about 3 years old ...and more and more applications are balking at it all the time ... maybe it's time to upgrade it :p

The HOF rules suggest that graphics mods (Sn00py's for eg.) are allowed. I'm new to C3C. When I start a new game and want to use Sn00py's, I must start with the "Content" button and select the appropriate .biq file (say Sn00py....biq). I trust that this has no effect on the admissability of my game?

Or is it just things like leaderheads and smiley faces that are allowed (because they don't require the "Content" button).

I use snoopy's graphics but I downloaded the files and put them in the relevant folders so that I don't have to use civ-content. If you want to do the same visit this thread.

I'm not sure if using civ-content is OK for snoopy in the HOF so I'll pose the question to other staff and try and run a test. If no one else doesn't answer first, I'll get back to you!

Hello again, Donny Brook. I tested files using civ-content to generate saves with snoopy graphics and although it clearly generates random saves, it can unfortunately lead to problems in some cases which would result in games being rejected. I suggest that you load the graphics from the link above and then generate saves from new game or quick start.

Remember that there is always the 4000BC save checker on the page when you log in to the HOF so you can always use that to check any saves that you currently have and want to use.

I have a quick question about a potential exploit- and forgive me if it's been asked before on this thread; I couldn't see anything about it.

The "exploit" is this: in C3C, you can invariably get the AI to declare war on you- even if you have a peace treaty, MPP, etc.- if you place a submarine in the path of an AI vessel without radar such that the next turn the AI vessel moves into the invisible sub's square and is forced to attack it. I have observed this phenomenon several times and recently used it to get out of an unfavorable GPT deal in a solo game.

This is most easily done by finding one of the obsolete frigates, galleons, or ironclads that the AI tends to use in the early Industrial age and cutting into its path as it moves down a coastline or through a bottleneck. As soon as the AI gets destroyers (which have radar), they start adding them to stacks and this trick stops working.

Essentially, this tactic permits you to sign a per-turn deal with an AI and then rapidly terminate the deal without taking a reputation hit (the AI declares, not you). Is it permissible in a HoF game?

My immediate reaction is to say that it is OK but I'd like to consider it overnight, Cerenkov. Marsden or I will give an answer tomorrow.

It's a trick, but as long as using it doesn't force the AI into a negative gpt situation, then go ahead. A variation on this can be to keep a privateer in port and then wait for an AI frigate to bombard it, thereby attacking your city and declaring war.

I would actually like to get a confirmation on the following.

I noticed that you actually do not get a rep hit if a trade route is broken as long as you are only importing luxuries/resources but not exporting. Now the beauty of this is that I can go, strike up almost any kind of deal (of course leaving the obviously banned negative gpt stuff aside), bundle the whole thing with a luxury/resource import, and then go and cut the trade route to make the deal go bust. Repeatedly. I can cheaply ( :D) buy techs, aquire cash, form 'alliances,' and even get DOWed almost as I see fit.

Is this allowed?
