Handy 18 AWD small - Celts

ok, thanks Romeo to let us know.

Roster:
Greebley - on deck
Handy - on leave until 10th July
Bugs
Rat
Bede
Obormot
Romeo - skipped
Matt - up

I see it, but won't grab it till tomorrow.

Got it. I might need 48 hrs from now guys. I hope not, but I might.

Here is the save.

Inherited turn: I swap some builds. (Sorry Obormot)
Swap Entremont to a GS. Swap Agedincum, and Augustodurum to walls. Bedeborough to rax. I will let the cheap warrior build out of Verulamium for MP duty.
I can’t see building workers out of size 1 towns. We have 11 workers and 8 cities. The need isn’t critical. This would keep those towns at size 1 for 20 turns. I want them to grow so they can start building troops.

IBT: Thebes builds the Pyramids. :cooool:
Lisbon builds the Lighthouse.

Turn 1: 975 B.C. Wines online. Lux can go down to 20%. Eboracum founded. Set to rax.
Drop sci and still get writing in 3, making +4 gpt. Damn, where are the frelling archers?
Nevermind, we don’t have WC.

IBT: Warrior attacks Handulodunum. Our elite spear kills it. (1-0)

Turn 2: 950 B.C. Just worker stuff.

IBT: Warrior attacks Handulodunum. Our elite spear kills it. (2-0)

Turn 3: 925 B.C. Just worker stuff.

IBT: Egyptian archer comes into view. Entremont GS>spear. I’ll peel a settler after the spear. Writing comes in. I’m going for Lit now since we will be in a GA very soon.

Turn 4: Egyptian warrior moves towards our Iron. Cover the worker. Our GS climbs the Iron hill by the warrior. I was going to attack him but then he would have to defend against the archer on the inter-turn.

IBT: Warrior moves onto mined grass to pillage next turn.

Turn 5: 875 B.C. Our GS kills the would be pillager flawlessly. (3-1) Our GA has started.
Handy18-GA.JPG

Go thru all cities. Lit in 10 at +5 gpt. Entremont makes 16 spt in the GA. Palace down to 15 turns and will drop more next turn when a mine finishes.
Crap, I just noticed borders to the west of Agedincum. It’s not Cleo either.

IBT: Entremont – spear>settler

Turn 6: 850 B.C. I attack Cleo’s archer with our GS and he redlines and retreats. :(
At least he retreated. Got him into Alesia to heal. Palace dropped to 12 turns with the mine done.

IBT: Cleo’s wounded archer retreats to neutral ground to heal. Alesia – GS>GS.

Turn 7: 825 B.C. Our new GS attacks the archer and kills him. (4-1) I switch Agedincum to rax instead of letting the walls finish. Since it’s on a hill I figure the rax is more important right now. We are probably going to have a second front over there if there is land behind that city. The healing will be needed.

IBT: Entremont – Settler>GS

Turn 8: 800 B.C. I was going to send the settler west like Bugsy suggested, but it would be guaranteed contact with the civ to the west. (Probably the English)
I head him NE instead.

IBT: Handulodunum – Rax>GS.

Turn 9: 775 B.C. More Iron spotted to the NE. Kill spear heading towards Agedincum.
Our GS is redlined though. (5-1)

IBT: Chop finishes at Agedincum. Rax in 2 now. A Portuguese settler pair comes into view from the West. The ports founded a city in the tundra SE of Bedeborough.

Turn 10: 750 B.C. Just move some units. Henry has 12 cities and incense. He’s up every tech we can see. Don’t know if he has iron or not. No deals possible. We are at war with the Portuguese.

Summary: Quiet turns this round.
Red dot is where I was thinking of putting the next city. You might want to change the walls in Augustodurum to a rax. Lit in 4 turns, palace in 8. (300 shields)
Entremont can do 3 turn Gallics in the GA at size 6.
Probably will want to pull a spear out of Lugdunum for Bedeborough. It’s undefended.
We will be at war with a third civ any turn now. It’s going to start getting interesting.
One more thing, When I reloaded to take the screenshot I forgot, I noticed you can lower sci one notch and still get Lit in 4. I didn’t resave it though, so please do this. :)

I was going to send the settler to light blue dot until that city showed up over there. Went for red dot instead.

The western front will be very narrow. With some cats over there a handfull of GS can hold the front while everyone else goes after Cleo and the Pyramids.

Let me guess, we haven't researched math yet.

Sure haven't.

Roster:
Greebley - UP
Handy - on leave until 10th July
Bugs
Rat
Bede
Obormot
Romeo -
Matt - just played

don't worry Bugs, with a GA we should be pretty safe for our GL and that will catapult us into the MA pretty fast I guess.
I am not too sure whether the west is a connection to a big part, since we did meet the Civ's that late. With Portugese settling in the SE, my guess is that they have sent over galleys to settle empty land. That would mean that we have another continent closeby.

I hope we can snag an army and then fill it with GS, that would be a powerful pillager for Egypt.

Hey guys, I needed a swap, not a skip. I can play after Greebley, or I can just be skipped, no big deal.

Woops, sorry about that Romeo. :(
I should of had you up in my post, not Greebley.

sorry Romeo, my bad, I misread your swap request for a skip, I suggest you take your turns after Greebley just before me.

I will get to it on Saturday at the earliest. I will play Sat morning. If you can play Friday go ahead.

IHT: NOt much
IBT: Not much
Turn 1: Build G-ville. Lose new Gallic sword to port settler pair.
Turn 2: Bad news
Handy18-01.jpg

Kill egyptian spear and then kill port settler pair.
Turn 3: Egyptians go from not knowing writing when I pick this up to starting the MoM. Been playing with the sliders, we now have some serious bank.
Turn 4: Ports land at crappy locale. We had an empty city. Lit in, WC in 4 at +25 gpt. Kill port warrior. Kill 2 egyptian archers, starting a settler to expand more. Glib in 10, now at 27 gpt.

Turn 5: Egypt starts the great wall. Moving and stuff. Upgrade a vet warrior.
Turn 6: Kill a port archer near bede borough again, and kill egyptian archer near egypt.
Turn 7: Upgrade another vet warrior. Retreat an assault on the port city.
Turn 8: WC in, start the wheel in 4. Egypt is sending large swarms of archers in. Egpyt builds the HG. I really think our first push will be their way. Ports start Sun Tzu's. 3 Egyptian archers bite the dust.
Turn 9: Egypt builds the MoM and retreats its forces. Ports land a pony. Whack said pony.
Turn 10: Settler should found in place. Swords pushing north. I think Entremont should start a library then crap out a settler. Upgrade our last vet warrior. Whack port warrior. Egyptians have been retreating for a while. I have a force heading towards egypt.

The great library will come in 4 turns, we kind of would like that.
I think we should spam out some more settlers quickly and fill our lands. The FP would also be great in the Glib city as soon as the Glib comes in.

Preturn: Things look good. No changes

IBT: Some Egyptians advance.

530 BC: Kill 2 Egyptian Spear. Build Cataractonium. (2-0)

IBT: Portugal drops off an Archer. Egyptian Archers advance. We get the wheel.

510 BC: Attack 4 Egyptian Archers, Kill the Landed Portuguese archer and kill 2 spear in the Portuguese town. (7-0)
Turn off science - GLib in 2.

IBT: Some more Egyptian Archers.

490 BC: Kill an Archer in the Portuguese town. Sao Paulo is Captured.
We have two horse Sources, BTW.

IBT: We build the GLib. Sun Tzu started by Portugal.

470 BC: Kill 3 Egyptian Archers. Lose a Gallic to a Regular Warrior on the Flat. Kill a Spear and get 2 slaves from a Settler. (11-1)

IBT: We get all Ancient techs except Currency and Republic. Immediately revolt on the IBT. Use the big picture to prevent revolts.

450 BC: Kill 2 archers, and the Warrior that defeated us last time (14-1)
Decide to build some Temples. They are cheap for us and we could use the Culture and Happiness.

IBT: We see an English Warrior.
We get Currency, Feudalism, and Engineering GA is over.
We are now a Monarchy.

430 BC: Kill 2 Egyptian Archers. Declare war on England. (16-1)

IBT: Lots of Portuguese boats.

410 BC: We don't attack this round. Eight Spear are Upgraded to Pike.

IBT: England Warrior Attacks a Pike and Loses.

390 BC: Waiting for some Egyptian Archers.

IBT: Babylon steps into View.

370 BC: Attack Portuguese Town killing a Spear, kill 4 Egyptian Archers. Destroy (new) Egyptian town of Edfu. (21-1). Kill the Babylon Spear and grab two workers.
The land to the West appears to be a major Choke point (where we could see the Babylon town). I plan to block it.

IBT:

350 BC: Move units onto the choke. Attack Babylon town of Shurrapack in the choke killing a Spear.

Notes:
We need more of everything. I would like to get Temples in most cities so we have some culture and don't have to hand-build every city - we can use more defenders and offense. We need Markets (only capitol has one). We need settlers to fill in the lands around us.

We should also concentrate on getting the choke city in the picture built with walls. Otherwise we have to face all the Babylon and English units (a good choke city with good defense may mean we only have to worry about boats.
