Handy 21 Regular Pangaea AWD again

I am halfway through my turns and i razed several more AI cities. I'll finish it tomorrow.

I'm having problems with my computer at the moment (i've screwed something up trying to get civ4 to run) and i cannot play now, i cannot even post the save with my progress. I should have asked for a skip earlier, but i hoped to get everything fixed soon. I didn't have internet access for most of the time too. I don't know when i'll be able to play, so i think you should skip me now. I didn't post any 'spoiler' info about my turns and i didn't run into any big trouble, so replaying here won't be cheating. Sorry guys for delaying you yet again, i think i'm the worst slacker of all SG players. I should propably quit playing SGs because i cause problems too often :(, it is just too hard for me to resist from signing up when i see another extremely difficult SG thread.

I am up in this game too then.

I got it.
are you sure??? I thought I am up, but if you play your turns, then I will play after that, it's ok.

save

Pre-Turn
if we get to steam and have coa, then we will finish this game pretty fast I assume
situation:
France 18 cities, down MT, have all resources???
Rome 13 cities, down MT don't know physics either
Portugal 13 cities, down MT
Iroquois 1 city, down MT, don't know physics
Vikings unknown
us: 61 cities
MM a lot and we can reduce science to 20%

IT no attacks, we get physics, magnetism next in 5

1.760AD
raze Kiohero and the Iroquois are history, raze Bayonne for 476gold :)
the French have 16k in gold, amazing, more worrying is that they have all resources again
we need to find them and pillage that

IT our capital finally gets it's library

2. 770AD
raze Tolouse for 490g
manage to raze Portugese outpost town in the east
disconnect Portugese iron and they are now without any resource

3. 780AD
while taking out a Portugese MDI in the east, get a leader, form an army since it would take too long to reach the capital
discover another iron way west in Portugese land, so the Portugese are selling their iron to France

4. 790AD
Portugese gft us 2 more slaves with a landed settler pair
repeat the same with another Roman settler pair further in the west
start to attack Grenoble, taking out 2 rifles
raze Strasbourgh for 517gold
approach Dijon and spot a Viking galley behind it, so finally we say hello to them
they have 8 towns, no chemistry nor theology, no salt as well, not such a danger I presume
declare on them

5. 800AD
Grenoble is razed for 537gold
defeat another Roman settler pair

IT magnetism is in, ToG next in 4 turns at some deficit

6. 810AD
found New Copan and New Greebleyque
raze Stavanger and Byzantium

7. 820AD
take out 2 Viking settler pairs, raze Lutetia

8. 830AD
found New Palenque
raze pop11 Dijon and get 850g for that

9. 840AD
our enemies now know MT, so Cav's could show up in the future
another Viking settler pair bites the dust
raze Cherbourg for 580g, knight army razes Avignon for 600g
we are rich with 3400g in the kitty
use some money to rush some minor stuff like temples and settlers, but avoid spending big

IT we get ToG and enter the IA, steam next but it will take 9 turns :(

10. 850AD
take out Brundisium and the soutern peninsula is free if towns, but Vikings find that very attractive and keep on sending settler pairs
suggest to keep an army there to fight them off
our killing zone works very well, don't move away the units and cannons, there is a big Roman stack coming
unfortunately I could only generate one MGL
we have a ton of money and could use some to rush things, leave it to next player to decide what to do

I now understand why it takes 9 turns, since nobody has steam yet, in fact only France has nationalism,
no other IA techs are known. This is deity pangaea, we have really hurt the AI

final city tally
France 11 cities
Rome 10 cities
Portugal 12 cities
Vikings 7 cities
we: 65 cities + 8 settlers on their way

Excellent. We can rush temples, build many settlers and prepare to rail the hinterlands for quicker settlement. Plenty of room to fill the void as we are still at 31% land.

Excellent progress. I think we should go for conquest here, it is more satisfying and in this game it will actually be faster then domination. BTW i solved the PC problems and i can play after Greebley.

I think conquest makes a lot of sense. I doubt we will go around the rotation again.

Preturn: No major changes

880 AD: Raze Reims and get 660 odd gold. Get a Leader = Mil Acad.

890 AD: A Knight Army goes from nearly full health to 1 hp taking out a Pike. We will probably lose the Army.
Our boat is sunk.

900 AD: Raze Beascony (or something like that) for 662 cash. Buy Beer.

920 AD: Destroy Poitiers, Capture Orleans (spice and JSB). Get a Leader for a Cav army.
Destroy a Roman Town.

IBT: France is getting Cavalry from Somewhere.

930 AD: Destroy a Portuguese town.

950 AD: Destroy a Second Roman town.

Notes:
Rome is landing settler in the southmost point of the continent on our side of the coast.
Eastern shores is still a target.

I liked the kill zone so I didn't expand much. We have several settlers waiting if you want to do so - it may be feasable to expand to the next choke between Orleans and New Quirigua.

Grabbed dyes and Incense. Incense is not yet connected by road.

France is destroying its own cities. Paris was down to size 6.

Lagerto is build a Harbor so we can send out ships to explore. We may want more than one city doing so to look for islands.

We have a lot of cash
