I play random setting games to get exposure to all the civs, but I dislike the expansionist.

There is no Austria in any standard edition/expansion of Civ3
It must be a custom MOD pack.

It's a "bonus" civ added with C3C. You have to add it in with the editor, but Firaxis supplied the files.

There's more than likely a mod in the C&C forums that already has it done for you. I posted one there that replaced the Zulu with the Austrians, but now I like the Zulu too much.

I never played as all of the civs yet. I don't have enough time to play civ nowadays, and my games tend to last long, but I guess that eventually I'll play as all of them. Unless Firaxis releases Civ4 before I do it.

There's alot of civs I've never played yet. Most notably, perhaps, I've never played as Scandinavia.

I've played all the civs in vanilla, some of them even twice.
Right now I'm playing my second Conquests game and I've never had PTW, so the only civs from these expansions I've played are Mongols and Vikings.

I have played as all of the Civ's but there are many Civ's that I have not finished a game with. I tend to like the agricultural, industrious, and expansionist Civ's the best.

I think I've played with all but five: China, America, England, Hittites and Mongols. I usually play random everything (other than map size). I'm thinking of choosing America for my next game (Monarch) though, I had a long Modern Age war in my last game and those F-15s could be very useful. Plus the traits are great.

Should I really add Austria, or should I replace an existing civ by them? I mean, would the former work for an epic game, including all the other civs?

You have to replace a replacing civ with them.

It's really up to you- they're militaristic, industrious. Their city list and leader names are in the Napoleonic scenario, so that would be easy. They have a UU that replaces cavalry that's supposed to be 7.3.3. Someone said that's why they were kept a secret. . If you want to do it, there's plenty of info in C&C regarding them- you'll just need to poke around a bit.
