Played 3 turns so far, here's what happened:
Pre-Turn (1820 AD):
-Why is there a destroyer fortified in Persepolis? He should be sinking ships, not sitting on his arse. I send it out.
IBT:
-The AI move ships, and Mongolia burns an Egyptian city. The AI has really liked razing lately.
-Pasargadae: Tank->Tank
-The Aztecs are building SETI.
Turn 1 (1822 AD):
-Wow, the AI did a lot of tech trading! Everyone has Communism, Amphibious War, and Computers now, and everyone but Mongolia has Ecology. I see if they have anything to trade for it, but they have no gold and a trade embargo against us, meaning they can only offer techs. Communism and AW I really dont care about, and they wont give us Computers for Ecology and our entire treasury. So, no trade.
IBT:
-The trade embargo against us between the Aztecs and Mongols has ended.
-All 5 cities: Tank->Airport (for Veteran Planes)
Turn 2 (1824 AD):
-Now that Temujin can trade resources again, I trade him Ecology for Communism, Amphibious War, 26 gold (all he had), WM, Coal, and Incense.
-The extra lux lets me fire the clown in Antioch, and the Coal lets me get about re-railroading some of our land.
IBT:
-Aztecs and Germany MA against Egypt, Aztecs declare war on Egypt.
-Alexandria Completes the Manhattan Project.
Turn 3 (1826 AD):
-Curious at this, I decide to investigate Thebes and see how much time it has left until the UN is complete. Heres what I find out:
3 turns from completion. From what I know about UN votes, the ones who are going to be candidates are Egypt and Greece. Egypts certainly not going to win this, theyre at war with everyone but Greece. Greece, however, might win. Theres 6 voters, so they need 4. They certainly wont get a vote from us or Egypt, but if the Aztecs, Germany, and Mongolia all vote for them, theyll win. I pause here for discussion.
So, what should we do here? We can't stop the UN from being built, we don't have enough gold to sabotage it, and unless we get Fission and an MGL in the next 2 turns, we're not going to beat them to it.
What we need to do is prevent Greece from winning the vote. How should we do this?
Then again, Greece did just sign peace with Mongolia and the Aztecs, so the two might not be keen to vote for Greece. However, there's still a chance they will.
