Hawk03-5CC Persian Astronauts

Well, looks like the AI has gone and started a world war. So much for MAing people, they did it for us.

And, thing about spies- wait 3 turns after a failed plant before attempting to plant another in the same nation.

Ouch, Greece stole our rubber. I say we join this war and kick Greece out of the neutral area. Again. But this time, we have bombers (which, sadly, don't have the ability to kill people in PTW)!

Well, we'll have some Bombers in a few turns. We might want to build some Fighters, too; Greece is sure to pummel us relentlessly with its bombers. A couple of Fighters might help cover our troops.

I'd definitely wait 5-10 turns before going to war with Greece; we'll need time to prep the battlefield and collect our bombers into a nice stack.

We made Greece into a monster, and now they are reaping the benefits. Their culture expands, they build a town, it builds culture and we lose resources. They are slowly throttling us. Begin a buildup to throw them back, but expect heavy bombardment both from boats and bombers when we go after them. It's gonna hurt, but we have no choice.

IT:

Alex sinks Cleo's Ironclad; Cleo lands a few troops next to Halicarnassus.
Alex complains about troops near Birmingham. We promise to move.

Persepolis: Bomber->Fighter
Pasargadae: Bombers
Susa: Bombers
Antioch: Bombers

Turn 6 (1792 AD):

Bombard Dover. Egypt declares on us due to MPP with the Mongols.
Bomb Cairo with one of the new Bombers. Kill citizens.
Bombard Cairo with arty, redlining defenders and killing one citizen.
eCav vs. redlined Infantry: 2/5 eCav, no promotion.
Raze Cairo.
Build a Rubber colony to the NE of Susa. It softens the blow of losing our previous source of Rubber to the Greeks.
Plant a Spy with Egypt.

IT:

Egypt kills a Greek Ironclad and a Greek Cav. Greece moves lots of Ironclads around, and Germany boots our Battleships.
Persepolis: Fighters
Pasargadae: Bombers
Arbela: Bombers

Turn 7 (1794 AD):

Bombard Dover, redlining the Rifle defending there. Greece will have the city next turn.
Try an Immediate steal vs. Egypt, and the Spy is caught :(

IT:

Greece destroys Dover and lands two settler pairs in the ruins of Cairo.

Persepolis: Fighters
Pasargadae: Bombers
Susa: Bombers
Antioch: Bombers

Turn 8 (1796 AD):

Rebase some bombers, zzz...

IT:

Wow, we're popular. Both Egypt and the Mongols are sending ship stacks to land invasion parties on our shores!

Persepolis: FIghters
Pasargadae: Bombers
Arbela: Bombers
Egypt is building the UN and the Manhatten Project!

Turn 9 (1798 AD):

Our ship stack bombards and sinks a stray Mongol battleship.

IT:

Mongols approach us, asking for peace. They'll pay up to 60 gold for the treaty.
Then they land 8 soldiers next to Persepolis.
Pasargadae: Bombers
Susa: Bombers
Antioch: Bombers

Turn 10 (1800 AD):

Use Bombers and arty to redline the invasion forces.
Tank vs. infantry, 3/4 Tank
3/4 Tank vs. infantry, 3/5 Tank!
eCav vs. cav, 5/5 eCav
eInf vs. MDI, 5/5 eInf.
Tank vs. 2 MDI, eTank!
vTank vs. MDI, vTank wins.
vTank vs. Keshik, eTank!

We end up with three elite Tanks but no MGL.

One thing we might consider is buying Radio from the Mongols in a peace deal, then bombarding Egypt. They had an MPP a few turns ago (hence us being at war with Egypt), and it might still be active.

Great, now we just need to keep Egypt from UN Victory, Stop Greece the juggernaut, research, and build the spaceship before anyone else. Piece of cake.

I can't get it this weekend, skip me.

If you can take it within a week, we will wait. If not, I'll take it within a couple days, possibly tomorrow.

Edit: Tomorrow has arrived. Begin forming a strategy up to get this thing going. As much as I want to punish Greece, I think war with them is crazy, but I will prepare for it, I’d like to alternate Tanks and Bombers and cashier our Cavalry for unit support. We will go to war eventually anyway, probably over a failed tech steal. Speaking of which, I plan on gifting the Germans up and stealing what they get during this turn-set. I will also do the peace deal with the Mongols and see if I can get Radio somehow.

I have finished 10 turns. We have Radio(Mongol Peace and 111gpt), Rocketry(freebie) and Ecology(stolen) and are accumulating cash towards stealing Fission and eventually Computers. Here is my turn-log:
Spoiler :

Pre-flight: CivAssist 2, Word running. Get the save loaded. Look things over.

Check with the Aztecs, Peace and Radio for 124 gpt. Mongols will do it for 111 gpt, so I take the deal. We get Rocketry as our free tech.

The save:

Kill them all, no SGLs. Kill them all, no SGLs.

I assume you mean no MGL's? ;)

Anyway, I think that if we do get an MGL, we should consider using it to beat Egypt to the UN. We don't want them calling votes every 6 turns that someone might win.

Anyway, I can play, so I got it, I'll continue building tanks, killing Egyptians, and stealing techs.

Roster:
Overseer: Just Played
choxorn: UP, Got it
Tusker: On Deck
Tassle, killerkid, Hawk, sk8board: On skip until further notice

Played 3 turns so far, here's what happened:

Pre-Turn (1820 AD):
-Why is there a destroyer fortified in Persepolis? He should be sinking ships, not sitting on his arse. I send it out.

IBT:
-The AI move ships, and Mongolia burns an Egyptian city. The AI has really liked razing lately.
-Pasargadae: Tank->Tank
-The Aztecs are building SETI.

Turn 1 (1822 AD):
-Wow, the AI did a lot of tech trading! Everyone has Communism, Amphibious War, and Computers now, and everyone but Mongolia has Ecology. I see if they have anything to trade for it, but they have no gold and a trade embargo against us, meaning they can only offer techs. Communism and AW I really don’t care about, and they won’t give us Computers for Ecology and our entire treasury. So, no trade.

IBT:
-The trade embargo against us between the Aztecs and Mongols has ended.
-All 5 cities: Tank->Airport (for Veteran Planes)

Turn 2 (1824 AD):
-Now that Temujin can trade resources again, I trade him Ecology for Communism, Amphibious War, 26 gold (all he had), WM, Coal, and Incense.
-The extra lux lets me fire the clown in Antioch, and the Coal lets me get about re-railroading some of our land.

IBT:
-Aztecs and Germany MA against Egypt, Aztecs declare war on Egypt.
-Alexandria Completes the Manhattan Project. :scared:

Turn 3 (1826 AD):
-Curious at this, I decide to investigate Thebes and see how much time it has left until the UN is complete. Here’s what I find out:

hawk03thebesunbv3.jpg

3 turns from completion. From what I know about UN votes, the ones who are going to be candidates are Egypt and Greece. Egypt’s certainly not going to win this, they’re at war with everyone but Greece. Greece, however, might win. There’s 6 voters, so they need 4. They certainly won’t get a vote from us or Egypt, but if the Aztecs, Germany, and Mongolia all vote for them, they’ll win. I pause here for discussion.

So, what should we do here? We can't stop the UN from being built, we don't have enough gold to sabotage it, and unless we get Fission and an MGL in the next 2 turns, we're not going to beat them to it.

What we need to do is prevent Greece from winning the vote. How should we do this?

Then again, Greece did just sign peace with Mongolia and the Aztecs, so the two might not be keen to vote for Greece. However, there's still a chance they will.

What if we kill off a voter? Since we traded Germany up and stole Ecology, they aren't of any use. With 5 possible voters, the winner needs 3 votes.

I don't think killing off a voter will help. The worry here is the Aztecs and Mongolia; if they both support *either* Greece or Egypt, we lose.

What if we declare on Greece and pull Germany into the war? That will guarantee that they can't get enough votes to win.

Killing Germany won't help.

Mongolia and Aztecs won't support Egypt- the AI never votes for someone they're at war with. It's Greece I'm worried about.

As to pulling someone into war against Greece, it would probably be better to pull Mongolia or Aztecs in. Germany would just get quickly pwned by them.

What if we signed a ROP with Germany and landed some troops on their island to block Greece's access?

Greece could still bomb the crap out of anything on that island. I might try that though, since I see few alternatives.

What about the Aztecs and Mongols? :p

So, the plan is, declare war on Greece, MA Germany against them, and get troops to surround the island and prevent them from getting on?

What if they have Marines? :p

What if they have Marines? :p

The AI is generally a moron at using marines, but one can't be too careful. It's a chance we have to take, as UN is the number one reason space games are lost. We could always gift Germany a captured Greek town to keep them alive.

I ask again why Germany and not the Mongols or Aztecs. :p
