Ok, if you are new to this thread, what has happened, is some very lovely people are helping me with my computer.
I have just bought a new 40gig HDD and they helped me install it.

Now i need help with other things, if you would like to join this great 'promotion' then scroll to the bottom.

Here's a site I found for you. If you scroll down to the bottom you should see a 30 GB drive for $285.

I got my 30 GB about 6 months ago for about $130.

But of course that was in America.

Assuming your using windows:
Click "Start"
then "Run"
then type "fdisk" and hit enter
Then option 5 will say change drives. (YOU WANT TO PARTITION DISK 2. IF YOU DO DISK 1 THEN YOU WILL ERASE YOUR HDD!!!!) - Just to be sure make, chose option 4 and make sure that there are no partitions on the drive.
When you have the right drive selected, then choose option 1 and then option 1 again.
Then fdisk should verify the hard drive's intergity. Then it will ask you if you want to use the entire drive and make it active. Say "No" (If it's set active then it will conflict with the other hard drive.)
Now here is where you have to make a choice. Are you going to make the drive 1 big partition? Or a bunch of little ones? The computer will ask you how big you want to make the partitions. (If you use Win95a/b then yo will have to do 2 GB partitions. (FAT 16 Limit) so you would enter 2000 MB, and enter that size until there are no partitions left.) If you use Win98 or higher then you can enter anysize you want. I suggest using %ages. If you want to use the whole drive the enter the size or 100%. If you want to split it into smaller pieces then enter 33% then 33% then 33%, etc....

If you have ICQ, I can walk you through it.....if you want me to. Of course after you partition you will need to format all the drives.

Anyway.....if you need more help just ask.

YOU HAVE TO PARTITION THE DRIVE IN ORDER TO PUT DATA ON IT.

You can make it one big partition.....but YOU HAVE to partition it.

You can also use Partition Magic, although this is (I think) only a high-level partitionner. Fdisk may be effectively necessary for the lower-leve. But PM can dynamically partition your HD, ie you don't loose any data since you don't have to reformat each partition.

im shocked. still nobody has posted here.

Ok, an update, I just copied my entire ICQ folder, if i just reinstall ICQ, then drag the copied folder over it, will it work????

also, im updating ALL my drivers, how do i find out what bios/motherboard i have?

Do I need to update drivers for my harddrives?

And how does modem drivers work? i have a conexant HCF. Whatever that means, coz from what i have heard, conexant is something todo with Rockwell.... then i get really confused.

What programs should i get to keep my computer nice and healthy?

Depending on the version there is a folder which stores that stuff. Either "2000b", "2000a", or "99b". All you have to do is copy this folder and when you reinstall ICQ enter your number......and your list will pop up.

Well.....the best way is to either look at the motherboard or look in the BIOS. Are you talking about Flashing your BIOS??? Or are you just talking about chipset drivers for your motherboard?

Only if you have a Promise card or a special chipset.

Modems are the hardest things to install....EVER!!!! I HATE MODEMS!!!! I suggest finding the CD that you got with the modem and following those directions.

Well make sure you get rid of that "Windows". I heard that's a pretty big virus.

Anyway.....make sure you defrag or scandisk once a month. Run through the disk clean up wizard once a week. After a couple of months, you might want to get regclean and run that. (It will help keep your registry fast)
