Help a Rome: TW newbie

Yep. Epeiros also does not exist in vanilla RTW, and is replaced by ridiculously easy rebels. Play Europa Barbarorum, it's an awesome mod. :D

Europa Barbarum Sucks, turns are about 200 years each and theres a huge historical account for each one. Also, you don't witch civs are witch because they're in their own language!!!!!!!!!!!!:mad::mad::mad:

Oh, and the easiest civs to play in Barbarian Invasion are East Rome (Byzantium/Constantinapole) and the Saxons

Try one season. Three months.

What's wrong with that? Anyway, you don't even have to look at it if you don't want to, so I see no reason to complain.

Several justifications for this. Number one is that this ain't Rome Total War anymore. There were plenty of other, sometimes far more interesting polities that shouldn't have gotten the short shrift that they did in RTW, and part of that is to allow them all their own names. I thought that you were annoyed about the utter lack of historical accuracy in vanilla RTW; when it's included in EB you get annoyed? Further, you seriously can't tell who's who? I have a hard time believing that.

Uh...yeah?

How do you raise influence and management traits of your family members and diplomats?

you're absolutely right, dachs. EB is a great game, and no longer "just" the plain, vanilla, "for-popular-consumption" RTW. in fact, i like it a great lot that i have TWO versions of it in my PC right now: v1.0 and the newer v1.2 (no fancy reason why--i just like to have both versions, and am enjoying the achievement that i managed to get them both installed without having to get rid of one).
well, to each his own preference. if the west india man doesn't like EB, that's no problem with me--i enjoy the historical accuracy, realistic mood, and hearing the combatants in their...well, almost correct...native tongues. and if EB is one game that loads so-oo-oo slowly, i don't mind it at all--the satisfaction i get from playing it is worth my patient wait for the loading ritual to complete. :)
Hawooh.

you know, noble 12ea56, there are several good strategy guides about RTW, and i think there's one guide that really addresses your need, How to Nurture your Generals' (or family members') Traits. just look for it in www.totalwar.org, then follow the FORUM and then to the Rome:TW Beginners' section. you'll find what you seek, and find plenty more besides, which i think will also interest you. :)

Makedonia has been reduced to one island off of Turkey in my current EB game of Rome xD

Once my army is refitted I will be invading Greece to break up the Koinon Hellena (sp?), they're getting too strong for my comfort. Once Greece is mine I'll probably take Sicily, Corsica and Sardinia.

EB is awesome. The only bothersomely long load tiem is when it first starts up, but I just go and get a snack or organize a couple of things on my desk.

Other than that, I can't find anything wrong with it. Although the forest trees are huge but that is in Rome as well.

Ain't no Turks in EB.

Koinon Hellenon. Greek League.

Them fixing that problem was one of the things that made my mouth drop open in awe and respect when I first played an ETW tac engagement.

This is getting off the subject of the post.

If your the Scipii, your main challenge is to take Syracuse. Carthage, Nubia and Spain are actually quite easy (to conquer), if you play your cards right. Gaul may be taken, but your main campain will be in Africa against Egypt. Get south-west Turkey and Rhodes for the Colossus, Temple of Artemis and Mausolleum of Mausollous. They should be really easy to take (they were in my game at least-then again, I had a huge army...). Also get Alexandria and Memphis for the Great Lighthouse and Pyramids respectively. Statue of Zeus will inevitably fall to the Brutii. If Corinth revolts, take it. Oh, and Make Carthage your capital...

I have a feeling that west india man is teenage or borderline illiterate or both.

Although the forest trees are huge but that is in Rome as well.

They're a royal pain. Those sequoia-like forests are impossible to fight in, and the only solutions I have so far are to never fight in them and to not go too far north. If only the RTW AI understands diplomacy like the Civ4 AI. I wouldn't even have to step into most of the Alps to deal with Suebi vermin.

Hey he, being a teenager has nothing to do with it.

There's not even always consistancy with those huge trees either, they seem randomly placed in Gaul (which I'm raping, literaly and figuratively).THe Aeudai and Averni hate me and refuse to make peace (). It's getting tiresome althoguh I am using a lot of mercs so i can auto a lot.

Gates open when people walk through, or spies open them, or they break open.
Senetors offer office posts, ignore and they don't like it.
As for armies on a small skirmish of a rebel village take a couple of archers, 5 legions, spears, 2 horses, general.

You can flank the enemy (go round the side of them) and charge into the sides.
Horses charging onto spearmen is not advisable as you'll return with few if any. Charge them from the back however and you'll only lose a couple (some spears facing the wrong way).

To charge, double right click the target location.

:goodjob: Hope this helps.

Hmmmm....

When I was scippi I went after greece right away to stop the brutti from expanding there. Plus those cities are great. Granted it was only on medium level, but I was able to fight greece pretty easily without the brutes getting too much over there.

I still haven't battled anyone in the north or west really. I like the guys in the east a lot for some reason.

If someone could assist me that would be great.

I just recently reinstalled Rome Total War Gold Edition and downloaded the EB mod, but when I try to play with the Mod it says, "File not found, please ensure you have the correct file." Please help.

Thanks.

Also, I downloaded the full Mod and the 1.2 patch for EB.
