I like the second safe house and the training one.

I will be adding much more to that mod for later eras. There will be a National Security Service with two possible branches Internal and External based on the number of cities you have. These cost a lot but open up more missions and the like.

I want to get the police part done next so that we can replace/implement Scotland Yard properly. There will be:-
  • Village Police Station
  • Town Police Station
  • City Police Force
  • Metropolitan Police Force
  • National Police (Scotland Yard, FBI(?), AFP etc.)
  • InterPol - don't know how to implement that one;)
Each will upgrade to the next one up and require the Administration building of the same name. City Police Force will also require a courthouse. There will be a few lockups of varying sizes for people awaiting justice.

They just look wrong to me, but that is because I don't live in the US of A.:D. It turns out our (Australian) various police forces don't have badges. A band of blue and white check is what is used to identify cars and buildings etc..

As I say before in other topic American culture is wide spread on the world and easy recognisable. In my country police got special ID documents but its not the case.

Its more important what police symbol is most popular in the civilizied world and Im pretty sure sheriff star/police badge is on the top :)

How do they wok with the existing Law buildings? Such as ...

- Police Station - The Basic modern Police Station that Police Squad, Police Cars and Police APC all depend upon.
- Police Box - Requires Police Station
- Police Precinct -Also requires the police station and is like an add-on upgrade rather than replacing the old. Also the Police Mech requires it.

Note there are more like the Police Dog and Cat Trainers that depend upon the station. And the Police Drone Control Tower too. Even a Police Academy building too.

In short are your police buildings independent of the basic Police Station? Or do they replace it? Or do they require it?

The City Police Force looks equivalent to the Police Station but requires Courthouse and City Admin.

The Metropolitan Police Force (requires Courthouse, Jail and Met Admin.) is the (pseudo?) National Wonder needed so you can build National Police. Maybe not, I may go with 2 required instead.

I forgot about the Police Precinct.

There are also some pre-jails as well.

edit My names are probably better since large towns and cities have many Police Stations and Precincts.

You need the idea of a police force first. That happened around the late 1600's. This is different from the idea of a sheriff and city guard but evolved from them. So we need some sort of national wonder "Rule of Law" just has to exist for the police buildings to become available.

Then the buildings are based on the administrative size of the city.

Village Hall allows Village Police Station and Local Lock-up. Initially these would have a live in police officer or two but as roads and communications get better it becomes more of an office which may not be open at all hours since the police can get there from the near by towns. The Local Lock-up is a small set of cells used to temporarily hold people...

Town Hall allows Town Police Station as an upgrade to the Village Police Station. The Local Lock-up is still the same.

City Hall and Courthouse allows City Police Force and Remand Centre (used to be called Detention Centres but that name is not used much now). Again the Remand Centre is a temporary place for people while crime is being investigated or awaiting trial. I did not use Department because that has a different meaning here being more support/political than day to day. However I think they are probably equivalent.

City Police Force allows the training of basic police units. Allows building of Police Dog/Cat Training Facility.

Metropolitan Admin + Courthouse + Jail allows Metropolitan Police Force. This allows the building of the more specialised police buildings such the Armed Response Unit/SWAT.

The initial "Rule of Law" building and the Met Police Force would allow a Police Academy.

The drone tower would first require a specialist police group built near a Met Force and that would allow it in all of your cities.

BtW having just watched a marathon of Italian detective TV shows (Inspector Montalbano) I think we should add a very expensive mission to Judges to expel criminal units and bad guys from the city. It would have a large base cost, reduced by law enforcement buildings and units in the city and increased by the crime level.

Once thing I noticed is some should probably require power, such as the Police Precinct.

I also left of some like the Maximum Security Prison, Homeland Security Agency, Reeducation Center, Security Center, etc.

1. Having the current Police Station require your buildings could work too.

2. Yeah we do have buildings like Town Watch, Sheriffs Office. Infact before it got merged my Law Mod had a lot of buildings in it ...

Law Mod
- AI Surveillance
- Bailiwick
- Chancellor's Office
- Check Point
- Chief's Hut
- Court Chaplin's Office
- Courthouse
- Crucifixion Crosses
- Cryogenic Prison
- Detective Agency
- Electric Chair
- Forensics Lab
- Gallows
- Great Firewall
- Guillotine
- Intelligence Agency
- Interrogation Building
- Law Firm
- Law School
- Lethal Injection
- Lookout Post
- Marshal's Office
- Maximum Security Prison
- Meeting Hall
- Mind Control Center
- Police Academy
- Police Box
- Police Precinct
- Police Station
- Public Stoning
- Reeducation Center
- Safety (Great Firewall)
- Scotland Yard
- Security Bureau
- Security Center
- Sentry Post
- Sheriff's Office
- Spymaster's Office
- Steward's Office
- Stocks
- Supreme Court
- Town Patrol
- Town Watch

Sheriff's and City Guard line of buildings are more about the the collecting of taxes and tariffs and organising defense. As are the Chancellor's Office.

Spies are mostly about espionage both preventing others and gathering intelligence.

Meeting Hall has nothing to do with either as it is just a place in the city for people to meet, hold celebrations and the like. It is a useful prerequisite building for others.

Courthouse and the various jails and punishment buildings are about justice. As are the Law Firm etc.

Police buildings are about crime prevention.

Security and Intelligence buildings are more about external threats ie active espionage causing crime.

Then there are the Religious buildings that encourage proper conduct.

If that's you, you're a lot older than I was expecting.
