Looks like a great mod.
Neither of these problems may be the fault of the mod. For some reason the Mac version of C3C has a slightly different file structure which causes the game to crash with certain mods - Check out the community solution and the official solution; try at least one of them before blaming the mod.

I don't know anything about the mac version, so thank you for the help. :worship:

Well, this opens up just a whole new can of worms, doesn't it. :(

I don't like the 1.22 Rev A patch, and I uninstalled it. After setting up a fresh copy of C3C on my Mac, I did a fresh download of Heretic_Cata's mod, and it runs just fine on the pre-patch version of C3C. (Okay, I did have the Almogavars problem, but that was easy to fix.)

I don't know what to suggest to Empiremaker or to Heretic_Cata. If enough Mac users are using the patch, H_C might want to revise his file structure to accommodate them, but that might screw things up for PC users. :confused:

If he doesn't want to do that, though, maybe Mac users will just have to suck it up and put 2 versions of C3C (one patched, and one not) on their computers.

I don't know anything about how the game goes on mac. But changing the directory structure means i have to wait 3 hours again to upload the mod in which i don't have to touch the computer (kuz it crashed and the upload froze once last time). So that's not going to happen till i get a better connection.
And since rabid snails move faster than the idiots who are bringing the optic fiber to my neighbourhood the mac users will have to suck it up. Sorry.
Or make a sort of "Fixing tutorial" or link to one in the mac part of the forum which i'll put in the 1st post.
 
Anyone who peruses the Mac forum will see that many of us are not happy with the patch, for various reasons. Don't go trying to make a "Mac" version of the mod, HC (or anyone else); we're already set up to handle what's going on, which is shortcomings in the Mac port of the game*, not shortcomings of the mod maker. If anyone has problems with your mod that show up only on a Mac send them our way. We do have people like AlanH, our moderator, who are Mac pros, and Brad Oliver, who works on the Civ Mac ports, also posts, and listens to our feedback.

*For example, the closest we can get to the Editor is to run the Windows one under something like Virtual PC.
 
i have download for Civilization III a new mod from Civ Fanatic's Center (this site).
this is the mod: Heretic Cata's "All in One" Mod and the patch v1.04

i have put all files ("my mod" and "my mod" scenario in the original file "scenario")
the problem is that I have Civilization III, Civilization III: PTW and Civilization III: Conquests all in french versions
when i put the file in the right place on my computer (C:\Program Files\Infogrames\Civilization III\Conquests\Scenarios)
and when i launch the game, all is good until that point: after the world choose, and the civilisation choose, the game puts me that on my screen:




Load Error

FILE NOT FOUND

"Art\Units\Settler\Settler.INI"

Le jeu va maintenant s'arrêter. (The game will stop)



i understand that it came from the translation because if i rename the file "colons" to "settler", the game run until it say the same for the explorer.
must i translate all the units file into english or, as i wonder, there is an other solution ?

Unfortunately, there is no solution for this that I know of. If you would translate all the units, I think that it will work.

It's interesting that it says that it didn't find the file Settler.INI, so the mod was maybe looking for a Settler.INI file in your original C3C folder, and couldn't find it there.

Maybe someone who knows more than me will be able to help you. :)

I can't think of any way to solve this other than renaming the files.

But we should wait a bit to see if anyone who uses the translator solved this problem in an easier matter.

Sebastien does the normal game (without the mod) work for you ?
 
The only solution is to copy the unit-files and translate the names. The same problem we have with the german version, for which Goethe made a tool that does the translation-work. Maybe there is something similar for the french version around?

Edit:
Heretic_Cata: There can be no settler.ini because in the french version there is no unit with the name settler, because they are renamed in french.

Yes, and probably it's looking in the default C3C Units folder and can't find it there.
 
Hi all, i am pleased to announce that i have started doing some work for the expansion of the mod. :)

I have a question tho (i hope the big modders will hear it...):

Wonder A has expired.
Wonder B becomes available sometime after that. Wonder B can only be built in the city where wonder A exists.
Is it possible to build wonder B ? Or is it because wonder A is expired (even tho it still apears on the city screen) wonder B can no longer be built ?

Sorry to nitpick, but you missed one small thing for Judaism: the 25 hour fast on Yom Kippur!!!! I am sooooooooooo hungry!!!!! :(

I am going to add 1 or 2 things for Judaism in the expansion. :) That's not one of them tho. ;)

How strange ... all of the muslims fasted today also. :hmm: And they (the ones i know) don't do that the whole Ramadan. Strange coincidence. :)

I'm not sure if this will work, but I tried it before with something else. In the text folder there is a file called "PediaIcons". In this file there's a section titled "Unit animations". Each entry looks like this.
#ANIMNAME_PRTO_Settler
Settler
Rename the bottom one. Try it with one to see if it works. If it does work, rename the others but only the ones that are from the main game.

I haven't downloaded the mod yet. It's going to take an hour for me.

@Mxzs: It was your idea so i'll ask away.

You wanted a wonder that builds Mass Transit Sys. everywhere. Done - so what should it be ? :)

I could only come up with the "Autobahn" if you, or anybody else has any better ideas fire away. The Autobahn doesn't seem quite right ... but if there aren't any other ideas ...
