That's right. I have not got the whole album. "The Magic Number" is in my collection on one of a wonderful series of classic jazz tunes that got sampled by Hip-Hop artists called "Blue Note Break Beats". I've also got a copy of "I Got Six" on a completely different record. I used to play "The Magic Number" as the final tune at my funk nights in London. It was a nice way of saying, "you've had your fun, now piss off home.".Shane. said:"3 is the Magic Number"
Its a (great) Schoolhouse Rock song that was well sampled by De La Soul.
I used it, as well, when our first was born and then brought it back around again , when we had our 3rd kid.
@Ramb... they play SR in England, or have you spent time stateside?
As you've noted, it's mainly for its sample value and it was indeed the De La Soul album "3 Feet High and Rising" which brought it to wider attention.
