Has anyone purchased it or plan too? If so what if anything do you expect?

J

I dont plan to buy it, but might read through a little of it. One excerpt that caught my eye is the part that said that 8 months after Monica was the first time Bill ever lied to her. Iwould like to see the whole passage, because that opens several doors to unpleasant places.

I do not buy books. I read them at the bookstore.

Seriously, no. I really don't have a reason to, and why should I shell out $20 for no reason?

I saw her i-view w/ Barbara Walters the other night. She said that on the morning of 21-Jan-98 Clinton told her there was nothing to the forthcoming allegations by Star's team w/ regards to Lewinsky (Lewinsky didn't go to the press -- she told a confident who taped their conversation and turned it over to Star.) About eight mos later (in August or September) Clinton testified under oath and therefore had to tell the truth about the Lewinsky affair. She says he didn't tell her until then, which made for a somber vacation.

But maybe the January 21st date was the reference you were looking for -- she says it's the only time he told her a flat-out lie.

I might check it out at the library.

To be honest, I think the whole Lewinsky scandal has been done to death, and I'm not interested in sitting down and reading more about it than I already have over the course of the years since it happened. If I read it, it will be more for the purpose of her life-story, to see if I would want to vote for her if and when she ran for President.

Autobiographies are hard to read, because the person always makes the best effort possible to push the reader into a positive opinion of the author.

I think this is more of a PR move than anything for Mrs. Clinton. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see her run in '08, and this book is just helping build that up.

i was going to get it but a vast right wing conspericy prevented me

No way!

I am not interested in some one's private life!

I leave that to boring housewifes ;) .

It takes a village to write a book?

If Hillary is so smart, why didn't she write it herself? She hired three writers to write it for her, and she just proof-read the lies...errrr....stories.

I've got better things to do with my time than read her self-righteous drivel...like shave my head with a cheese-grater. :D

Never buy an autobiography unless the person has one foot in the grave and feels like coming clean.

Never buy a second hand biography until at least 5-10 years after the person died.

Unless its my book.

I have a policy on autobiography/memior....I never read a book that was ghostwritten (or in this case ghosts written). I'll read Bill's...his ego is too big to allow someone else to write it for him. He's supposedly writing it out in longhand!!

I'm not into the first wives, really. But then, Hillary is much mroe than just a 'first wife', so I may very well get it. I am much more eager to read Bubba's, though.

However anybody here feels doesn't matter much, apparently, as this book has already begun setting sales records.

"If Hillary is so smart, why didn't she write it herself?"

Seems a prevalent opinion, all of a sudden.

Boy are there going to be some disappointed people in four or five years when Dubya busts out the crayons.

I'm sure he'll insist on drawing all the pictures, though. ;)

I think it is very suspicious that this book appears as Ms Clinton is preparing to run for the Presidency in '08. Unless there is at least one decent scandal in this book then I won't even bother glancing at it in the bookshop.

There is a block of political watchers that think that Hillary is lofting a trial balloon for the 2004 elections. I'm not quite sure what would be considered negatize reaction, except the book selling very well for a couple weeks and then dying.

What's the publication date?

It may not be relevant, but Newt Gingrich is bringing out a new book as well. He did write his.

Now that's one I will buy. President Bush will have a larger legacy than Hillary's husband (since some think that Hillary was the brains of the pair, that makes it hers). For good or bad, there is going to be more meat on the bones.

PS Now that I think about it, Bill Clinton may well be remembered as another of the do nothing Presidents. I wonder how he would react to learning that?

I've read that the DNC bought the first couple of hundred thousand books to donate to libraries...but that could be "news" from the "vast right-wing conspiracy".

As I said, lets see if it's still selling next fall. I remember when Bill Bennets book, I think it was The Book of Virtues, came out. No one week that stood out, but it kept going like the Energizer Bunny.

   You guys are so mad. :p

I'm guessing 'news' from Fox 'News', btw.

It brings joy into my heart to, one, see this book selling so well, and two, to see so many people stewing over it.

I can't help but smile at the frustration. :D :D :D

The book was always going to shift a few copies because the author and the subject are so well known and the massive media blitz before the launch. However a hell of a lot of books have to be sold before the publishing firm makes a profit.

'....a few copies.'

Lol. Uh, its breaking sales records, MrPresident. Make whatever predictions you will, but you can't debate the fact that records are being set by the sales of this book.

Dislike of the author doesn't change fact.
