I like some rap/hip-hop. Mostly the top selling rap artist of all time, Eminem, but 50 Cent and Kanye West are not bad. Rap is a form of expression to a set of rythms, insturments, etc. It is music, and I think too many people are just saying it's crap without actually experiencing it.

Most famous ones that promote violence do have a criminal record. The ones that are heard about all the time are quite of ten ones who were drug traffickers or murderers. And NO, this is not a racial bias. It's what I've learned over the years

A. He didn't limit his comment to "most famous ones"

B. Even if he did, its irrelevant and the stereotyping does border on being racist. I'm sure you wouldn't make such extrapolations about affluent white girls based on the actions of Kate Moss and Paris Hilton?

I'm not a rap fan, but I wonder why people have so much time to waste hating things that they could just ignore.

i want to see something

1. why you dislike it
As stated previously, I do not think savage jungle noise is compatible with the glories of Western civilization.

2. name three rappers that you first think of when someone mentions rap
I think of Murray Rothstein when I think "rap."

Jeebus, if the artists weren't mostly black would you be calling it "savage jungle noise"?

Blackalicious, Beastie Boys, Missy Elliot

and if you like rap, recommend me three rappers in the vein of Blackalicious, Jurassic 5, and Deltron 3030
See above.

Rap is little more than vulgar noises and grunts (not quite words) added to jungle beats.

i dont think it should, it is a discussion that for the most part has been fine, except the occasional pseudo racist statement

if anything someone should be warned

sorry but who is Murray Rothstein?
The man who forced "rap" and other degenerate filth that passes for "music" into Americans' living rooms over the past decade or so.

I got three for you now.

Kill the white people; we gonna make them hurt; kill the white
people; but buy my record first; ha, ha, ha"; "Kill d'White People";

--Apache, Apache Ain't ****, 1993, Tommy Boy Music, Time Warner, USA.

"These devils make me sick; I love to fill them full of
holes; kill them all in the daytime, broad mother****ing daylight; 12
o'clock, grab the Glock; why wait for night"; "Sweatin Bullets";

--Brand Nubian, Everything Is Everything, 1994, Elektra Entertainment,
Warner Communications, Time Warner, USA.

"Now I'm black but black people trip 'cause white people
like me; white people like me I but don't like them. . . . I don't
hate whites, I just gotta death wish for motherf**kers that ain't
right";

--"Race War"; Ice-T, Home Invasion, 1993, Priority Records,
Thorn EMI; now called The EMI Group, United Kingdom.

What type of music do you think isn't "degenerate filth"?

Also who are you to decide what music is or isn't compatible with "the glories of western civilization"?

ok for one those are horribly obscure gangsta rappers, except for the last, and partially the second

second if you look at Ice-Ts quote he says he hates anyone who isnt right

now will you tell me with all honesty that the rich white man isnt exploiting the black man

And I can find similar quotes from literature, heavy metal, poetry, you name it. However, in those cases, the words weren't voiced by blacks, so somehow I bet you'd not call it degenerate or savage.

I dont like any rap but that kind of rap music is just plain despicable.

Hate speech isnt music to me. Especially with the gunshot sounds in the backround. :rolleyes:

wow i just realized he hates blacks because some hate whites

heres some advice, generalizations are stupid

Oh that makes sense he only has a death wish for the people who he thinks "ain't right.":rolleyes:

"Bust a Glock; devils get shot. . . . when God give the
word me herd like the buffalo through the neighborhood; watch me
blast. . . . I'm killing more crackers than Bosnia-Herzegovina, each
and everyday. . . . don't bust until you see the whites of his eyes,
the whites of his skin. . . . Louis Farrakhan . . . Bloods and CRIPS,
and little old me, and we all getting ready for the enemy";

I hate "gangsta rap" but i started listening to rap when it wasn't about slangin' rock and pimpin' hoes.

Any one else remember 'Young MC','KRS-1' & 'Boogie Down Productions', 'Biz Markey', and 'Tone Loc'?
