History Quiz III (with rules)

I am guessing you mean the battle of Marathon of 490 BC. The last man to die was the runner (whose name escapes me at the moment) who brought news to Athens of the victory and then dropped dead because of the exertion. Which was perhaps not surprising, because he had ran to Sparta earlier on to ask, unsuccessfully, for help.
The news had to come to Athens because only part of the Persian army had disembarked at Marathon (42kms and 195 meters away from Athens, of course ;) ) and the city was told to hold out against the remaining part until the army could make its way back.

Marshall Murat

What politicle party was Julius Ceasar, and Gnaeus Pompey a part of?

Shouldn't it be Constantines turn (if it's correct, dunno)?

Anyway, the answer is Populars in contrast to Optimates.

Alright.

Rank the following figures from US History in terms of how many Electoral Votes (count only votes for President after 1801) they recieved in their lifetime, from most to least.

Strom Thurmond
John Adams
Al Gore
William Jennings Bryan
George McGovern
Henry Clay

1. Al Gore
2. Henry Clay (ran multiple times).
3. W. J. Bryan
4. Strom Thurmond.
5. George McGovern
6. John Adams. (0, since he wasn't on any ballots after 1800).

1.Bryan (must be--he was runner-up like 3 times)
2.Gore
3.Clay
4.Thurmond
5.McGovern
6.Adams (as above)

Oh sorry,
What was the battle and who was (supposedly) the last man to do die because of it.

From the question above, and a minor threadjack (since it's already answered) but was the man's name Pheidippides ? Just occurred to me while I was twisting and turning & trying to get to sleep :)

Yup, in my head it's 'Phidipides' but I think the story is apocryphal.

Serathun, Thuloid, you misunderstand the question. Count all votes Adams ever recieved -- just don't count any Vice-Presidential votes for anybody after 1801. You can count any vote from before 1801.

In that case:

1. Gore
2. Clay
3. Bryan
4. Adams
5. Thurmond
6. McGovern
