Of course not. Carter, FDR, Harding, and a whole slew of 19th century ones were far, far worse.

John Adams was worse.

Not the worst ever, but probably the worst of the past 30 years.

What's wrong with FDR? Did the New Deal, created social security, saved America from the depression, neutralized communism and anarchism at home, saved Britain from Hitler, fought WWII, funded the Manhattan project, the TVA, a national highway system and the development of the computer. If not for FDR, America wouldn't be the worlds leading superpower... it would be a sort of giant endless version of Fellatio, Alabama.

No. There has been far greater damage done to this country in the past by some of our previous presidents.

Hey, take a close look at FDR. Forget any "socialist" arguments (though I could just go to town on those alone), look at his massive abuse of power. People accuse of Bush abusing Presidential authority, but FDR wrote the book on it.

Scheming to stack the Supreme Court
Brow-beating the press and forcing them to squash stories
More than two terms (if it wasn't so bad, why did an amendment get passed to ban it)

If that's the case, why aren't you condemning Lincoln, Wilson, and Nixon, all of whom were arguably worse on those particular issues than FDR.

He won't be the worst as things stand now but you forget we have 9 months left. If some corrupt apparatichuk he appointed misses something and Bush ignores CIA warnings while on vacation allowing NY to be nuked well then I think he would earn the title. His administration will get a lot more blame for missing 9/11 in the future I think.

He's not the best and he's not the worst. He is somewhere in between.

Although he might have a "Yogi Berra"-esque legacy as making the dumbest misquotes ever.

Exactly. FDR is certainly in the top 5 best presidents. Bush if not the worst, is tied for the worst with Reagan. Carter in a nonety squarely in the middle of mediocrity.

You take him to task for FDR and yet you do the same thing with Reagan, who is also routinely placed in the top 5 best presidents of all time.

tsk. tsk. ;)

Vice President: President Buchanan, the country is slowly decending into civil war, we need to help it!!!!

Buchanan: Just get me another beer will ya?

Yeah, there have been worse presidents.

Andrew Johnson was way worse, as well as several others. I say Bush is a below average President, but anything else isn't very justified.

Middle to bottom of the middle third, but anybody who says Bush is the worst ever doesn't know squat about history. Interestingly, Clinton and Bush have been ranked roughly the same by presidential scholars, who I trust far more than random polls of a public that can't even name half of our presidents.
