The only thing I really missed was that Spanish doesn't say the type of Great Person that is born, just the name of them (unlike English). However, I doubt that even knowing the language would help without the lists of GP names, so you're in the same position as I am.

It is not because of the language. That game was played in Vanilla, were you don't know anything but the name of the GP.
It was 1GS-6GA-1GE-6GA if I recall correctly.

Shows you how much I play vanilla:lol: I was most concerned with how many GAs you had when you signed the PA, but I think you already answered that question in the gauntlet thread (4 right?).

H!

(Sorry for my english, it is not perfect)

I have problem with HOF3.13 and BOTM1. I always get the same message: The save file you have selected is protected to ensure that the assets in your mod folder have not been changed And then Civ exits to desktop.

Installation and patches history:
1. Recently installed BTS
2. Installed Official 3.13 Patch
3. Installed Unofficial Patch for 3.13 by Bhruic
4. Played with no problem
5. I wanted to try BOTM1 so...
6. installed HOF-3.13.001
7. And failed to open the BOTM1 save game (with the above error message).

I don't want to play with Vanilla or Warlords, but BTS. I have NTFS file system. Don't work either I opened BTS after loading the HOF mod (instead of open the save file directly). I did not install any other mod or anything.

I read many posts, and I have tried these:
1. Copied this files: http://gotm.civfanatics.net/civ4games/Civ4_BtS_DLLs.zip (but I think it is only for Vanilla and Warlords)
2. Reinstalled the patch, after reinstalled the HOF.
But the same.

The AssetsChecker found some problem, here is the output:
BTS Files - Path: C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BTS: Assets\CvGameCoreDLL.dll,<-- Error: Files do not Match

* * * BTS: No Errors were found * * *

I do not know what should I do now. (Maybe a full reinstall? But after I should do the same steps again, with different result?)

Thank you for any help or idea!

the problem is caused by Bhruic's .dll - you'll need to get rid of it.
you could try to run official 3.13 patch again after you renamed or removed
Assets\CvGameCoreDLL.dll - this may or may not work.
if not you'll likely need to uninstall BtS and reinstall it and then run 3.13 again. If you want to use Bhruic's patch for non-HOF games - you can use grumbler's installer for Bhruic's patch afterwards and make sure to set it to install Bhruic's patch as a mod. The HOF-Mod includes most of his fixes though...

Thank you very much! :hatsoff: It is working!

For others with the same problem:
1. I removed Assets\CvGameCoreDLL.dll (both from main folder and BTS folder)
2. Re-installed 3.13 patch
3. Re-installed HOF-3.13
And it is OK!

I will try the mentioned installer for non-HOF games too. Thanks!

Silly me forgot to welcome you to the HOF and to Civfanatics :band:
also for anyone else in this situation: removing the Assets\CvGameCoreDLL.dll from the BtS folder only should do - you don't need to touch the Vanilla one :)

Is it possible for the HoF mod to change Vanilla to say the type of GP like Warlords and BtS? I assume it would be as simple as copying the Warlords code over into Vanilla.

We'll have to look at it. Not everything that seems simple is simple. But then, not everything that seems hards is hard, either. :mischief:

If this has been noted before, sorry. But in the Domestics Advisor pages, when I click on Specialists, none of the Spy Specialists show up on the page. It seems like BTS is adding a Spy Specialist as a default, at least in my current game, and I was using the Advisor page to keep track and change them all to Scientists. I was surprised when I went though my cities one by one and saw many Spy Specialists. Is there another place Spy Specialists show up?

:hmm: Are you talking about the HOF Mod Domestic Advisor screen or the regular one? The HOF Mod one may not show spys. I don't remember seeing anything in the code. I'll have to look at that for the next release.

The HOF MOD Domestic Advisor.

Also, I have compressed specialists checked, but can see only a max of 8 specialists in any one city. They don't overlap like they did in Warlords (I think).

Great! to be sculpted in the stone!

Another thing, just to keep you busy ;)
one of the things i appreciate in the HoF is that i can start a game from a save, and after all the loads, i get the screen of the opening game.
Not true with BtS: after all the loads, there are the annoying 2K, Bts and some other movies -before- the open-game screen.

Some chance to change this?
I suppose that if managed it on Vanilla and Warlords, you can do it here.

Or your quoted sentence is the answer?

You have control over the movies yourself, the same way you have for the other variants of Civ4. Edit your BtS .ini file, mine's at:

C:\Documents and Settings\Alan\My Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\CivilizationIV.ini

Put 1 in the following setting:

; Set to 1 for no intro movie
NoIntroMovie = 1

I have found that just a mouseclick aborts the movie and goes to the next thing, so if you don't want to dive into .ini, that is an alternative. Also does no intro movie also mean no marketing/advertising movie?

Some other games only skip the intro stuff with the escape key (Paradox games come to mind here ... )

That setting eliminates all the intro stuff on my system. I just see the small window with the loading progress bar for my default mod, then the main splash screen with the "PLAY NOW!"/"LOAD GAME"/.... menu options.

What's the big deal about changing one character in a text file, anyway? Are Windows users really that scared of your own computers? :p

No, in fact I would say we are more familiar with our computers after all the visits to the doctor that we make with them!

Just wanted to point out an alternative that can be used if one has not yet made the .ini adjustment. Then again, sometimes I am in the mood to see the movie again, so it preserves my options ...

Use the free RADTools to see the game movies on your system, including the intro movie, without having to play the game. There's PC and Mac versions. That way you can set the "intromovie=1" and watch the movies whenever you want to.

For information, no extra software is needed on a Mac. You can double click a movie file to see it in Quicktime Player. If you have Leopard (10.5.x) you can just select it, hit Space, and it plays in a QuickLook window.

Thanks Alan, surely i have no problems in editing the ini file.
Just, it seems better to add the thing to the mod, since the V+W already have it.
